Nelson Mandela's Clothing Line '466/64' Debuts In The U.S. (PHOTOS)

46664 Clothing Line

Nelson Mandela celebrated his 94th birthday in style yesterday by officially debuting his highly anticipated clothing line 466/64 Fashion in the United States.
The kickoff event, which included a press conference and fashion show, was held Wednesday afternoon at the South African Consulate in New York City.
A host of fashion buyers and industry insiders watched as the colorful collection of men's and women's sportswear paraded down the runway. We love the bold prints (we can definitely see Solange Knowles rocking these threads) and socially conscience angle to the line. A percentage of 466/65 Fashion's sales will go to community projects throughout Africa.
And although the former President of South Africa was not on hand for the festivities (he was busy being serenaded to by millions of South African children), his brand ambassadors were: multi-platinum South African singer, Lira and international model, Sam Sarong.
Both stars worked the runway at the event and shared their excitement about 466/64 Fashion's stateside launch.
"As a young South African, I can wear a brand that makes me proud to show where I’m coming from,” said Lira.
You can now start shopping the collection online and at specialty boutiques around the country. The line hits department stores racks in spring of 2013.

Ramadan Begins For Muslims Across The Globe.

Muslims around the globe have begun their holiest month of the year by giving up food, drink, smoking and other physical needs from dawn till dusk each day. In many communities, large dinner gatherings are held each evening to break the fast. The month also marks a time for Muslims to reexamine their lives through the prism of Islamic teachings.

Goldie Opens Up On Why She Cried During Eviction.

When asked if her 'love' for Prezzo was real or a strategy to win, the singer replied:
It wasn't a strategy to win. I saw Prezzo as a calm, very intelligent and easy going person. Viewers have the option of seeing about 50 cameras at a time but I have just two eyes and two ears and only believe in what I saw. You had the opportunity of knowing him more than I did.
On how she felt when she realized that Prezzo had nominated her for eviction/ played her.
She said, "I didn't know much or watched Big Brother very much before I got there due to my busy schedule as an Artiste. So, I never suspected that Prezzo played me because he cared for me in the House and when I say you are my friend, I will trust you wholeheartedly. But when I came out of the House and realised that he had played me, I was a bit sad. Knowing that he was in the house to play a game, I became relaxed".

On why she cried during her eviction on Sunday:
"That is who I am. That was how I was brought up. I am a very emotional person. But I cried mostly because of the betrayal that I felt from Prezzo! He was the last person that I thought could betray me. He was always giving me hope. cheering me up as one of West African representative. He showed solidarity to the course of the Region. I thought he was my friend! So, I was emotional when I realized he played me"

......................Taller women seem richer and more intelligent, according to psychologists
.......................Women in north-east England wear highest heels in Britain

'If you can't beat them, join them', goes the saying. And British women are certainly living by that mantra when it comes to their height.
We may be some of the shortest ladies in  world, but they are  compensating by wearing the highest heels on the continent, according to a new study
Tall women tend to have more fans than they  might think, I interviewed three men who love tall women  and I don't just mean 5-8 or 5-9, but over six feet tall These three men represent only a fraction of the many men out there who think tall women are goddesses. So to all tall women who have a habit of letting self-consciousness or people's dumb comments and questions ruin your life: These three men find tall women very attractive.
What tall women must realize is that not all men prefer "the short gals," and not all men, who like tall women, are super tall men themselves. Also, not all men who like tall women are short men, which is another stereotype directed at men who prefer tall women. There is nothing wrong with the men who love tall ladies . In fact, I'd say there's something very right about such men! I'm 5.9inches tall and I'd be lying if I said I never worried that my hubby crossed paths with me but looked straight past me because I wasn't tall enough for him.
In Europe stiletto-mad celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole, British women are now tottering around on an average heel height of 3.3 inches.
That's almost one whole inch more than the petite women of France who, favouring a heel of 2.4 inches, wear only the fifth highest shoe in Europe.
Hot on the heels of the Brits, preferring an average height of 3.2 inches, are the women of Spain, while Danes wear 3 inches and the Germans 2.7 inches.
The study comes as British women are revealed to now be among the shortest in Europe, with the average 18- to 29-year-old measuring in at 5ft 4ins (163cm).
The heel brigade: Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole are just two celebrities rarely seen in anything less than a three-inch heel
Perhaps in a bid to tower over continental counterparts, a quarter of British women brave stilettos of between four and six inches high.
And even though Victoria Beckham has admitted to suffering from bunions because of her dedication to the high-heeled cause, three per cent of UK ladies still admit to preferring heels loftier than than six inches. It seems we are prepared go through it because, according to psychologists, appearing taller makes us seem more confident, successful and even intelligent.
Psychologist, Emma Kenny said: 'A tall woman is considered more assertive, confident, richer, capable, successful, independent and even more intelligent than those who are shorter.
Perception is incredibly powerful and it makes sense that the feedback we receive from the way we are treated by others will reinforce our choices.British women are ambitious and if putting on a pair of six inch heels increases their career prospects the savvy individual will do so.'
Within Britain, the height of heel women prefer to walk in is dependent on location.
Women in the north-east were found to be wearing the highest heels in the UK - an eye-watering 3.46 inches. They were followed by Londoners in 3.37 inches, the West Midlands at 3.35 inches, Scotland at 3.28 inches and the women of east England in heels of 3.25 inches.
As many as 65 per cent of British women say they have suffered a significant amount of pain as a result of their choice of footwear, but a staggering half of these were prepared to endure the agony, which is compared to toothache and earache.
Rachel Long, from London, said she was prepared to suffer in order to look good. The 35-year-old office clerk added: 'Heels make me feel more confident and attractive, and I feel the higher they are, the better.
It does mean my feet are suffering a bit but I’m prepared to go through it.”
The study of 3,792 women, conducted by foot care brand Compeed, also found the shorter the person, the higher the heel.
Lorraine Jones, from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists added: 'I recognise that with fashion as it is, wearing foot-friendly shoes is not always easy. However, wearing fashionable shoes occasionally is fine.
There are plenty of easy foot care treatments available that can help treat feet at home and avoid a trip to the podiatrist’s clinic.
With healthy feet, a woman can stand as tall as she wants in the highest of heels.'
