Lagos: Osinbajo flags off door-to-door campaign

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the difference between President Muhammadu Buhari and other presidential candidates for the 2019 elections is that the president will not steal or allow stealing.

Osinbajo made the declaration in Lagos on Saturday at the flag off of his door-to-door campaign in Lagos State.

Addressing the crowd, the vice president said there were leaders who would steal and those who would use the country’s money for the common good, noting that Buhari belonged to those who would use the country’s money for common good.

“We should not allow those who have stolen our money in the past to come back. They stole all the money and they want to come back. People are saying, enough is enough.

“In four years, PDP spent 383 billion US dollars. And they want to come back. 16 years is enough.

“After 16 years of ensuring that the country did not make progress, they want to come back. They will never come back,” he said.

Osinbajo said that Nigeria’s greatest problem was corruption and not planning because without money you could not executive any plan; hence the need to stop those who had stolen in the past from returning.

The vice president said the door-to-door campaign was more effective in reaching out to the people, saying it goes a long way in speaking directly to the people about the plans of the government for the people.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Prof Yemi Osinbajo Support Group, Pastor Yomi Kasali, said the organisation had raised 900,000 canvassers for Lagos State.

He explained that each canvasser was expected to meet with 50 people.

The vice president later visited some parts of Sogunro community, Ogba in Ikeja Local Government to seek support directly from voters in their homes.

Vote for honest politicians ―Magu

Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes mCommission, (EFCC),  on Saturday, called on Nigerians to vote for honest politicians.

Magu also called on Nigerians to vote only for honest politicians in the next general election, irrespective of their political affiliations.

“Don’t vote for anybody who is not honest, irrespective of the party he or she belongs to. We should vote for people who are honest and who believe in this country. We need to protect our children from the mess that we have created,” Magu said.

He also said looters and the corrupt people no longer have a hiding place, vowing to go after them.

Magu who spoke during the second induction and investiture ceremony of the Compliance Institute of Nigeria, (CIN), in Lagos charged stakeholders in the anti-graft war to be alert to their responsibilities.

“We need to wrest our Commonwealth from the grasp of the looters,” the acting EFCC chairman said.

The EFCC boss who was inducted as a Fellow, Compliance Institute, Nigeria, FCIN, described the compliance professionals as corruption hunters.

“You are also corruption fighters in your own right”, he said.

“We should not leave it to the anti-graft agencies alone. It is our responsibility as Nigerians to join in the fight. It is incumbent on all Nigerians to fight corruption. In fact, Nigerians should take the ownership of the fight against corruption”, he further said.

Magu also called on Nigerians to vote only for honest politicians in the next general election, irrespective of their political affiliations.

Earlier in his address, the Institute’s President and Chairman of the Board, Pattison Boleigha, described the event as yet another giant stride towards actualizing Nigeria’s efforts to stem the scourge of corruption, defeat terrorism, instil discipline and a culture of compliance in Nigeria.

“Let me emphasize that your induction as professional members have imposed on you the challenges of having to,  henceforth,  stand tall in integrity,  impeccable in character,  professional in service, alert to global trends and uphold high ethical and professional standards,” he said.

SHOCKING ! Man exposes how traders make one extra bag of rice from 8 bags of rice.

While most Nigerians are blaming the government for the problems in the country, a man has decided to expose the theft/scam being carried out by some traders in order to make quick money.

In a trending video posted online (watch below), some women were caught removing about eight Derica cups from each bag of rice after which they will use a new bag to repackage it and make it look 50kg bag of rice.

This is what they do to make extra cash as the bags of rice are later sold to unsuspecting customers who have no idea how they've been scammed.

Nigerians while reacting to the video, urged the government and appropriate authorities to look into the issue carried out by the corrupt traders.

“My backbone, my support system, my earthly god, my father- Wife in tears as she kneels to appreciate her hubby.

A woman was in tears as she knelt down to appreciate her loving husband. The woman who had nothing but praises for her partner took to her Instagram page to write;

“My backbone, my support system, my earthly god, my father, my friend, my confidant,my world, my hero, my wings, my number 1 fan, lover of my soul, father of my children, key to my heart….God is truly a mysterious God he looked at this helpless girl and blessed me with this rare gift. You call me the Gift but you are the gift. Thank you, thank you thank you for all you do.”

“This makes me so teary! They are still good men out there and not all are bad. A good man will always have a wife that worships the ground that he walks on”.

“Men please learn from this and stop beating and maltreating your wives so that their prayers will work for your coconut heads! Una no dey hear word!”

Bullies almost made me drop out of school - Cobhams

Ace Nigerian music producer, Cobhams Asuquo, who was visually impaired from birth has revealed that bullies almost made him drop out of school.

Cobhams who grew up in a military barracks in Jos, Plateau State, disclosed that though his parents didn’t have much, however they gave him so much love.

Here are excerpts from his interview with Eric Dumo;

You had your earliest childhood in a military barracks in Jos, Plateau State, what was that period of your life like?

That period was fun because I was able to do all the things most children around could do despite my visual impairment. I remember rolling tyres on the streets with the other children back in those days. I was very competitive. If any child did something around me, I found a way to do it better.

My parents didn’t have much but they gave me so much love. I would say I am a product of love. My visual impairment was never an issue of concern as a child.

Later, my father, who was in the army, was posted to Lagos, so we lived at the Ikeja Military Cantonment.

Were you able to start school as and when due or were there delays as a result of your situation?

I started primary school when I was 10 years old at the Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children in Lagos. I had learnt a lot of things from my brothers and sister before I started, so it was quite easy for me to fit in. I listened to a lot of radio programmes as a child, so this increased my understanding of a lot of things.

I attended a boarding primary school and for me, the environment and atmosphere were very different from what I had been used to at home. The shock was such that I wanted to drop out of school in primary two. The routine was quite a lot for a young boy like me who had been used to being woken up by his mother and asked what he wanted for breakfast.

Also, the head boy of the school then didn’t like me much because I spoke with an accent I picked up from watching television which they couldn’t understand. He and a few other boys did all they could to make life difficult for me. The situation got to me and I wanted to drop out of school at that point.

Fortunately for me, a lot of those boys passed out the following year, so things became much easier for me in school. As a matter of fact, I soon became a ringleader myself as time went by. It was an interesting period of my life.

For those who think that having a disability is the end of the world, what words do you have for such people?

I think such persons should take a look at my life. The fact that I am where I am today is testament to the fact that they can do 10 times more.

National Open University Of Nigeria graduates will now participate in NYSC and go to Law school.

The Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Friday in Abuja.

Students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) can now heave a sigh of relief as President Muhammadu Buhari agrees to the National Open University Amendment Act 2018.

He said, “President Buhari has also assented to National Open University Amendment Act, which allows the National Open University to operate as all other universities, having the same power and functions and the same administrative structures.”

The NYSC has, however, been issuing ‘Letter of Exclusion from National Service’ to graduates of the institution.

Before the presidential assent, graduates of the institution have decried the alleged discrimination to participate in the one-year national youth scheme, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The President’s assent to the National Open University Amendment Act 2018 has now addressed the issues raised by the students of the institution

While stakeholders in the education sector discuss the issue of participation in the scheme, NOUN graduates also lamented that they were not admitted into the Nigerian Law School.

This is just as the Act eliminates possible discrimination against programmes and products of the university.

“It has also allowed the establishment of some centres to be called study centres and given conditions for the establishment of such study centres,” Senator Enang revealed.

'I May Lose My Balance If I Reduce My Hair' – TY Bello

TY Bello, the Nigerian singer and photographer who has a signature afro hairstyle has disclosed that she might lose balance if she reduces her hair.

TY Bello who also spoke about her collaboration with gospel singer, Tope Alabi, on the song, Logan Ti Ode, in the interview with Saturday Beats, recounted how she was shocked with the feedback on social media.

“The collaboration between Tope Alabi and me was purely inspired by God and our session was beautiful. We hardly had conversations in between and the song just came out like a waterfall; it was so effortless. I was pleasantly surprised by the feedback.

“I knew people would love it but I did not know that they would love it like that. People took the song very personal and it meant a lot to people because it sounded like their story. When I heard the song for the first time, I cried. I guess everybody had the same response. I cried because I could relate with the story.

“I have been doing spontaneous worship for almost three years and it is a new way I have found to make music where I am basically singing a new song unto the Lord. I take it literally. I come together with other musicians and we sing songs that we do not know. I think I have found my new way of releasing music because I have always wanted to do it my way. For me, spontaneous worship is more sincere and effortless in the sense that I am not forcing things. I think I have found my space. I would have a lot of albums coming out from the session. Right now, I have about 12 albums that could come out of the past sessions,” the photographer said.

TY Bello who also hinted on a possibility of a reunion with a former member of Kush, the all-female group she belonged to that took the country by storm in the early 2000s, said;

“I was thinking about the other members of Kush some weeks back and this might just be the perfect platform for us to get back together because in reality, most of what we did were spontaneous songs. We just sang songs that we did not know and they became real songs. Everyone is busy at the moment but whenever we have to connect, it is always beautiful.”

On reducing her hair, she said;

“If my hair was lower, I would probably lose my balance. I am used to carrying a big and full hair and it is actually fun.”

2019: Why some people think Buhari’s ghost is at Aso Rock – Keyamo

The Director, Strategic Communications of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has revealed why some people are spreading the false news of the death of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Keyamo said the issue of the president’s death and his replacement by another Jubril from Sudan, was borne out of sheer hatred for Buhari.
Speaking with Sun, Keyamo said, ‘It is madness and the height of impunity.

“Insanity is brought about by their passionate hatred for the man. I give an example, if you passionately hate somebody so much that when the person is sick you conclude within yourself that the person must die and he would not come out alive, and all your juju men tell you that this person must die, when the person reappears and he didn’t die, you become hesitant to know whether you are seeing the person of a ghost because you have locked yourself up; you have locked up your psychology to assume the person is dead.

“So, when the person reappears, in order for you to maintain your sanity, you must begin to assume that this is a ghost and not the real person.

“That is what they are assuming. Those who are assuming that he is not the real person are trying to maintain their sanity because they concluded that he was going to die, so when he came back they are only trying to maintain their sanity.

“The fact that he is getting back to good health everyday, they cannot accept it and it is making them mad, that is why some actors are going mad; the so-called political opponents are going mad, all those separatist leaders are going mad. They are going mad because they cannot come to terms that he is bouncing back to good health; they cannot live with that fact.

“I give you an example, there are some people in the US who so much hated Donald Trump, and supported Hillary Clinton. When Trump won, they could not live with the fact that Trump won, what they did was to set up a virtual White House in their computers at home, and put Hillary inside the White House in their computer.

“So, every morning, they look at the White House and they see Hilary there, and say, ‘this is our president’, just to make sure that they don’t go insane because Trump is in the White House. It is just to keep their sanity, that is what is happening to those wishing Buhari dead.”

2019 presidency: Atiku speaks on gang up against Buhari

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated there was no gang up against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking through the Spokesman of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Segun Sowunmi, Atiku dismissed the claim that there is a gang -up against Buhari, who is presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

He was reacting to the claim by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the APC.

Atiku said the statement can only come from a drowning government.

Speaking with Sun, he said, “It is a drowning government. There are no gang-ups anywhere. What they must try to answer is how did they lose all the stakeholders who helped to install them. That they have lost all the stakeholders including the Nigerian public is a testament to the fact that the people have been generally and extremely disappointed.

“Some of the reasons include their handling of themselves in office, the management of the economy, the general well being of the entire society, the lacklustre performance they have demonstrated even in terms of looking at issues when they go out of the country within the international community, the level of poverty that has become excruciating now and making Nigeria the poverty capital of the world; the fact that the country now is so significantly divided and almost tilting towards a failed state, and the fact that they are not showing any new hope or remorse.

“What they are calling a gang-up is the kind of energy that the leadership and stakeholders of the nation usually put up when the interest of the nation is at stake. The build up to the 2019 election is such that all things considered, Atiku Abubakar is the one that the Nigerian public and masses are routing for.

“What they are calling gang-up is because the people are not willing to give anything to chance in their immediate history of complicating the electoral process. If they see people gravitating towards the Atiku mandate because of the vision he carries or the messages he is bringing to the Nigerian people, they begin to talk about a gang-up.

“The Nigerian people know that this is a man that can create jobs; this is a leader that can strengthen the economy for more growth; this is a leader that can put food on the table of Nigerians; this is a leader that can make Nigeria to be better; this is a leader that can restructure Nigeria to the benefit of all persons in Nigeria. The country, Nigeria is destined for the enthronement of a new order and that is what they are calling a gang-up.”

Presid Buhari's political associate warns Generals ganging up against him...

Engineer Mohammed Lawal, a long time political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, has warned ex-Generals working against the president that he will retire all of them.

Lawal, who who was the Deputy Director of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Council in 2015, spoke to The Sun.

He also lashed out at former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, insisting that he was not relevant in Nigerian politics.

“I still maintain my position in my earlier interview that in 2019, President Buhari would retire all these political Generals. Let us be more practical so that our audience can understand what is at stake. Let’s go to the domain of the gang leader, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, what can he deliver in the Southwest, can he deliver what Tinubu cannot deliver, is he more important than the Obas there, who have affirmed that Buhari has done well for this country, and therefore, they are supporting him; is he better than the Oba of Lagos, can he deliver even a ward in Lagos?

“Obasanjo may be influential internationally, and he can make noise because he is a former military head of state, and also a former president and has met a lot of people, as well as made so much money, which he extended to many of his cronies, and also going about telling the whole world that he is something, which he is not.

“Somebody whose family members are deserting him is leading others against the president. His children are saying that this man is mischievous; the younger elements in the Southwest are telling us to beware of that man because he doesn’t have good intention for the country and he doesn’t know God.

“Yes, if he knew God, there is no how he can come out to tell people that Atiku is the man now. Look at what he wrote in his book about Atiku? People have read his book and analysed it, then can somebody with a sense of shame come back to tell people that ‘what I wrote in that book is all lies; that I was deceiving you initially’, telling you lies because of some ulterior motives. He is doing the same thing now, trying to deceive and mislead Nigerians by saying that they shouldn’t support PMB.

“Even as he is leading his fellow gangsters to say that Buhari is not the man they want, it is because the president is saying the wealth of the country is for all Nigerians, you have feasted enough, let it now go round to everybody, so that we won’t wake up tomorrow to see people rioting and revolting against the system because Nigerians are opening their eyes and they know what is happening. The sordid situation we found ourselves is because of misused of statecraft, misdeed in governance, so people are fed up and they are seeing what is going on around the few elites, while they wallow in poverty, in hunger, in disease, etc.

“What is the fault of PMB? He is just saying we are putting a stop to corruption, brigandage and theft by the very few. Are they the only retired Generals in Nigeria, why is Gowon not with them? Even Danjuma, who is rational, is going about his work quietly.

“I repeat, those political Generals that couldn’t find anything to do after leaving office rather than to continue to feast on Nigeria will be retired by 2019. The next General, IBB, is he not in PDP and Niger State is APC; is he not in PDP when his son couldn’t make it under PDP, and another person made it under APC. Can he go beyond Niger State? They have names; they made names during military adventure. Military adventure is different from political adventure. They amassed wealth and influence, but day in day out they refuse or they fail to see the unfolding development in the political landscape of Nigeria. Military adventure is not political adventure; military influence can never be equated with political influence. On the ground, PMB has changed that and he is going to change that and by the time he leaves in 2023, political choice, political action in Nigeria will be very transparent and the commoners will decide who will be their leader.

“The gang up is simply because some people decided to go to PDP in order to continue the usual feast that has been stopped by PMB. Look at what the senate president, one of them that jumped from APC to PDP said recently that the APC, PMB is now distributing money simply because we are near election. Isn’t it madness? So, because we are now in an election period we should stop and deny the petty traders that should receive it to expand their businesses. This is wickedness. They want us to keep the money so that they can come and steal it but not to give it to the people that need the money; the people that need some succour of N10, 000; N20, 000, N30, 000, N50, 000 etc given to them -traders and unemployed graduates who don’t have collateral to go to banks for loans.

“This is criminal; they hate the masses and that is why they are kicking against that. Like I said earlier, Buhari is going to retire these people and the election is going to be peaceful. The president is cleaner than any of them; if they have anybody better than Buhari, let them go and bring him. The game is over, and if not because of one key issue we would have started celebrating. Look at the Atiku they are promoting; look at their show in Sokoto; look at their outing in the bye- election in Kwara, the home of their campaign DG or the DG of the gangsters. We are going to retire them come 2019,” Lawal said.

Stop abusing Nigerian leaders. . . . . . . . Secondus warms Oshiomhole .

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, on Friday in Abuja warned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, to stop abusing former Nigerian leaders.

Earlier reported that Oshiomhole on Wednesday said God will punish both Obasanjo and Abubakar by allowing President Muhammadu Buhari defeat them in 2019.

Secondus, while presenting the party’s flag to the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs. Haleemat Busari, the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun State, Oladipo Adebutu, and his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde on Friday, warned Oshiomhole against insulting Obasanjo.

He said: “The chairman of the APC should be warned to stop insulting the former leaders of this country.”

The PDP chairman also described APC administration as a government being run by cabals.

He, however, urged the President to order the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to be neutral in all political issues.

Secondus added, “Buhari should order INEC and security agencies to be neutral. Nigerians are wise; this is a President who does not communicate with them. He only talks when he goes outside Nigeria. Nigerians are confused and cannot understand him and yet he said he’s coming back, to do what?

“You are not talking to Nigerians, you can’t persuade them, you can’t order the security agencies and you can’t order INEC. The President should be bold to talk to the INEC chairman and the security agencies.

“This is a government of cabals and Nigerians will reject them in 2019 because they don’t even know who is in charge, whether it’s their president or a cabal.

“Nigerians are dying in their numbers, yet the emperors of the APC will be talking about integrity and more people are hungry. Nigerians will pass their judgment in 2019; you can no longer deceive Nigerians. We challenge the President to campaign, not by proxy or cabal.”

Nobody can kill me, because I’m already dead –Pastor Adeboye

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has advised Christians to stay connected to God to overcome life’s challenges and have dominion over all forces of darkness and sickness.
Adeboye gave the admonition while delivering his sermon tagged: ‘A branch of the Life’, on the second day of the ongoing annual Holy Ghost congress of the church holding at the Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Quoting copiously from the scriptures during the healing service, the man of God, explained that Jesus Christ is the Vine while every true believer is the branch and has God’s nature in him.
Adeboye, however, urged participants to remain steadfast in the vine, stressing that God has assured them of doing greater works than He did while on earth.

In his words: “Jesus Christ is the vine while we are the branches. He is the combination of divinity and humanity. As the vine is, so also the branches.
“If you are a true Christian, you are a combination of humanity and divinity. You are human but you are made to partake in God’s divine nature and He will supply the needed strength, power that you need to do His works. Every branch of the vine can do what the vine can do”.

Pastor Adeboye recalled how he went to toilet 23 times in a day after taking a meal during one of his missionary trips to an unnamed African country years ago, noting that it took God through the prayer of faith for him to be healed.

According to him: “I did not know what I ate but I just saw myself going to toilet. After the 23rd time, I realized that I needed to tackle the matter prayerfully. But who will pray for me? I then laid my hands on myself and prayed. That was how I was healed.”
He made reference to the healing while encouraging the congregation to pray for themselves, stressing that every child of God is a branch of the vine with both the human and divine nature.
Adeboye narrated the story of how Jesus slept in a boat while there was a storm indicating the human nature in him while He was on earth. “But the same Jesus who slept, rose up to rebuke the wind, indicating his divine nature. Jesus was fully human and fully divine when he was on earth.”

He said further that since believers are extensions of Jesus as his branches “we share divine nature and are capable of doing what God said we could do. As long as we are linked to him and connected to him we have the capacity to do all that he said we could do.

“I once told my children that nobody can kill me because I am already dead. I have been crucified with Christ nevertheless I live. Because Jesus is living in the believer, his blood flows in the believer. On the outside it may not appear to be so, but in actual fact the blood that is flowing in you is the blood of Jesus. Revelation 12:10-11, indicates that the blood has enough power to overcome the devil. If only you can believe, the blood that is flowing in you now can overcome any germ, virus or deadly thing,” he said.

Adeboye noted that there are several things that science cannot explain because those things are not happening in the realm of humanity, they are happening in the divinity. Recalling how a doctor who was at the verge of death was healed by taking a Holy Communion, he said, “Whatever is called sickness or disease will be consumed by the Blood of Jesus. Because Christ is in you and the Blood is flowing in your vein, sickness is not permitted in you.”

The RCCG General Overseer, who said he just returned from a missionary trip to some West African countries, told the participants that they have the capacity to do what He could do because the same spirit that resides in Him also resides in them as long as they belong to Jesus.

According to him, “you can from here go home and be healing the sick. The same capacity that I have you have as long as you yield yourselves to God,” stressing “the Bible did not say the signs will only follow the General Overseer but those who believe.

“Some also think they don’t have enough faith to do certain things. I used to believe that everything in the Bible is true but I believe I could not do those things because I did not have enough faith. Then I would fast and ask God to increase my faith. But the Lord sat me down one day and asked me some questions.

”He asked me, ’son, do you believe there is God?’ I said yes. ’Have you seen him before?‘ I kept mute. ’How then do you know there is God? Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God?‘ I said I believe and he asked were you there when he was born? I kept quiet and he kept on asking some other questions and said why are you then saying you don’t have faith?
“It takes strong faith to believe that there is God, that Jesus is the son of God and that He is coming again. If you believe those things, you have the faith you need to make the impossible happen,” Adeboye stated.

We are examining farmers-herders conflict in Nigeria, says ICC

The International Criminal Court (ICC) says it is examining the farmers-herders crisis in Nigeria.
Fatou Bensouda, lead prosecutor of the ICC, disclosed this at The Hague, Netherlands, while presenting the annual report of ICC activities for 2018, on Wednesday.
She said the ICC is examining available information to determine whether there is a reasonable basis to believe that the crimes allegedly committed fall under its jurisdiction.

In the preliminary examinations report, which addresses many countries including Nigeria, the ICC said from January to June 2018, over 1,300 people were killed and 300,000 displaced as a result of clashes between herders and farmers in five states.

“From January to June 2018, over 1,300 people were reportedly killed as a result of violence between herders and settlers in Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Adamawa and Taraba states and about 300,000 persons were displaced,” the report read.

“Furthermore, the office received communications on attacks allegedly carried out by Fulani herders and Christian settlers in the context of the violence in Nigeria’s North Central and North East geographical zones. This violence, which has been observed by the office since 2016, is often referred to as a conflict between Fulani herders and Christian farmers, stemming from limited access to water, land and other resources.”

The report said the violence grew worse between 2017 and 2018.

“The escalation of violence in late 2017 and 2018 is reportedly the result of the rise of ethnic militias and community vigilantes and the passage of grazing laws in some of the affected States that reportedly imposed restrictions on herders, among others,” it read.

“Militias are also reported to have clashed with NSF deployed in the affected area to address the deteriorating security situation.

“Some of the attacks on civilians were allegedly committed by criminal gangs involved in cattle-rustling that were subsequently blamed on Fulani herders. The Office has reviewed these communications and continues to gather additional information to determine whether there is a reasonable basis to believe that the crimes allegedly committed in this context fall under ICC jurisdiction.”

Gov. Tambuwal attacks El-Rufai, APC

The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has condemned the statement credited to Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State over the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, rally held in Sokoto earlier in the week.

Tambuwal, in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, pointed out that the failures of the APC had caused the PDP to blossom in popularity while bringing fright to the APC.

Governor el-Rufai had claimed that the crowd that witnessed last Monday’s PDP presidential campaign flag-off were imported from the Niger Republic.

But in a statement issued on Thursday by Akibu Dalhatu, Special Adviser, Public Enlightenment and Mobilisation to Tambuwal, the Governor said the claim by el-Rufai is a confirmation that the APC was shocked by the support gained by the main opposition.

The statement said, “The outcry by el-Rufai is a testimony to the fact that APC and its leadership were shocked by the gargantuan crowd the rally recorded in Sokoto which serve as the final burial of APC government in the Northwest and Nigeria in general because of perpetual failure, bad leadership, massive corruption, failure to end terrorism and other security challenges bedevilling our nation since the inception of Buhari’s administration in 2015.

“For the purpose of setting the record straight, el-Rufai should not forget so soon that his hands were deeply involved in messing up of the present administration as a result of his bad governance and policies as a governor of Kaduna state, through mass sacking of innocent primary school teachers, unnecessary demolition of peoples landed properties, disregards and disrespect for traditional rulers, Northern elders, leaders and other respected institutions, escalation of insecurity, refusal to obey the court orders and rule of (law).

“El-Rufai is cold-hearted. It was the same Northwest people that he and his party begged for support in 2015. But because of the failure of APC government, incessant hunger and poverty all over the region that have made them to decamp to PDP, he is now calling them foreigners.

“What scared el-Rufai and his co-travellers was the success recorded at the Sokoto PDP campaign rally. The Sokoto gathering, no doubt, instilled fear in the minds of el-Rufai and his cohorts so much that in their wildest imaginations, their party – the APC – will find it impossible to record a replica of such mammoth crowd in any state of the Northwest including El-Rufai own state of Kaduna. We, therefore, challenge el-Rufai and APC to do same if at all they can in any of the state in Northwest.

“With Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at the helm of affairs as Governor of Sokoto state and campaign coordinator of PDP in Northwest, El-Rufai will receive the shock of his life in Kaduna state and entire Northwest during the forthcoming general election.

“Tambuwal as a master political strategist who came second during the Presidential primaries of PDP will defeat APC hands down and deliver the entire Northwest to PDP because of massive support, love and loyalty of the people of the Northwest to him.

“Governor Tambuwal appreciates the political courage of the entire people of Northwest, their support and loyalty to PDP and sincerely thanks them and appeals to them to come out enmass during the forthcoming general election to lead PDP to victory.”

The MTEF/ FSP was designed to translate strategic development objective of the economic recovery and growth plan into a realistic and implementable budget framework.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has revealed how his government will end the reign of cabal if elected President.

He disclosed that his administration would do this by ensuring national unity if voted in to power in 2019.

Abubakar, a former vice president, gave the assurance while addressing members of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, in Abuja, on Friday.

While thanking CUPP for adopting him, the ex-vice president urged the collation not to “rest on its oars until the mission to oust President Muhammadu Buhari from office was accomplished.”

No sick Nigerian needs to be on TV begging money for treatment - Aisha Buhari tells Adewole

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Friday, told the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, to create a platform for mobilizing funds for taking care of sick Nigerians especially those suffering from HIV, saying nobody should be on national television begging money for treatment.

She said this in Abuja at the launch of ‘Nigeria Free to Shine’ Campaign targeted at eliminating mother-to-child transmission of the HIV virus in the country.

A member of the Association of People living with HIV AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Mrs Florence Onu, had earlier shared with the gathering, her experience in soliciting for money on national television to treat complications arising from her HIV predicament.

In her reaction, Mrs. Buhari maintained that it was an aberration for the sick to solicit for money for treatment on the media, saying Nigeria as a country has enough resources to make every citizen live comfortably, if judiciously utilized in the pursuit of the well-being of all.

She said: “I will like to call the attention of the Minister of Health based on (the story of) the lady (Mrs Onu) that has just spoken about the challenges that they are facing as people living with HIV and AIDS. I think she doesn’t need to be on the national television to get help in solving her health challenges.

“Based on the number of government agencies we have dealing with HIV/AIDS, maternal health and sexually transmitted diseases issues in Nigeria, I think and hope and seek the attention of the Minister of Health to create a platform that will mobilize funds from these agencies and parastatals such as the Central Bank and NNPC to make sure that the funds are utilized in taking care of the sick.

“We don’t need foreign investors getting involved. I believe that we have the resources. If they can be utilized judiciously, we will all feel comfortable living in Nigeria.”

Mrs Buhari, while restating her commitment to the on-going efforts at eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV in the country, said her vision for the campaign is to end childhood AIDS in Nigeria and keep HIV positive mothers alive.

“This vision will be achieved through several programmes that will increase the number of pregnant HIV positive women identified and placed under treatment for their health as well as prevent the transmission of HIV to their babies,” she stated.

The President’s wife further called on the spouses of the 36 governors in the country to implement the ‘Free to Shine’ campaign in their various states to drive the initiative down to the grassroots.

In his remarks, Adewole said the time to swing to action is now. He noted that the cost of investing in women and children may be high but the cost of not investing in them may be unbearable for the nation in the long run.

He said: “I encourage all stakeholders including our esteemed development partners to play their part as we embark on this worthy cause for the well-being of our pregnant women and children.”

Speaking also, the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Dr. Sani Aliyu, said Nigeria’s HIV indices has continued to improve over the last five years but at a slow pace.

He however stressed that the goal to end mother-to-child transmission of HIV is attainable, adding that countries such as Thailand, Belarus, and Armenia have achieved it.

“In Africa, the rate of mother-to-child transmission of HIV has been reduced o less than five per cent in several countries like Ethiopia, South Africa and Tanzania.

“Nigeria can replicate this. I strongly believe that our mutual goal of keeping all mothers healthy and offering children a HIV free start is achievable with collective effort of every stakeholder across all sectors,” Dr. Aliyu stressed.

More pain for Crypto-Currency investors as Bitcoin, Ethereum crash again

This weekend has brought more pain for cryptocurrency investors.

In December 2017, bitcoin prices hit a record high of just under $20,000. Flash forward to December 2018 and bitcoin is now trading a little below $3,300. That's a more than 80% plunge.

The world's largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin fell as much as 11 percent to a low of $3,235.95 (Around ₦1,170,689) on Friday, its lowest level since September 2017, according to data from CoinDesk. Over the past seven days, bitcoin is down more than 20 percent.

The price drops follow a miserable November for bitcoin. The cryptocurrency ended the month down 37 percent, its worst drop since April 2011 when the cryptocurrency fell about 39 percent, according to data from CoinDesk.

Other major cryptocurrencies also suffered on Friday. XRP, the second largest by market value, was down 7 percent while ether fell 11 percent.

Timothy Tam, CEO of cryptpocurrency research firm CoinFi, said bitcoin's large move downward was a "combination" of factors.

On Thursday, the SEC extended their review period of a much-awaited bitcoin ETF until February 27. While Gabor Gurbacs, who's spearheading the bitcoin ETF effort at VanEck, said the move was "expected" — the market still reacted.

"Historically there is price correlation with expectation of an ETF approval and downward movement when the ETF gets rejected or delayed," Tam told CNBC Friday. "Sentiment among retail investors in the crypto space is already negative, so any negative news like this generates an overreaction."

Michael Moro, CEO of Genesis Trading, said unlike prior weeks with drama in another cryptocurrency bitcoin cash, this week's moves don't appear to be event-driven.

"It looks like a continuation of the momentum trade that it has been for all of 2018," Moro said. "Short interest has continued to spike, as trading firms look to take advantage of the volatility."

Moro has also seen an uptick in selling by some long-term bitcoin holders.

"The general market sentiment seems to be that this 'crypto winter' could last for some time; not too many people are expecting a V-shaped recovery in 2019," he said.

It could also be speculation that a certain early bitcoin investor is dumping his or her bitcoin. Tam's CoinFi detected about $231 million of bitcoin moving from a wallet that hadn't been touched since 2014.

"Within 15-20 minutes of that signal, markets immediately began to move," Tam said. "Again, it's a knee jerk reaction. Retail investors are acting on speculation and raw emotion."

The problem is, that the signal — that wallet transfer — was "very real." CoinFi provides signal data to some large investors and if even one of them decides to liquidate based on that signal, it could end up triggering a chain reaction, Tam said.

2019: PDP presents Ogun governorship flag to Adebutu

The national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Friday in Abuja presented Mr. Ladi Adebutu with the symbolic party flag, to enable him contest the Ogun State governorship election on the platform of the PDP.

The party leadership also presented similar flags to Mr. Jimi Agbaje to fly the PDP governorship flag in Lagos State, while Mr. Seyi Makinde was also presented with the flag for the Oyo State governorship contest.

While presenting the flags to the candidates, the national chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus said the party had submitted Adebutu’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as required by law.

Secondus declared Adebutu as the party’s authentic governorship candidate for Ogun State.

Meanwhile, INEC had earlier recognised Senator Buruji Kashamu as the PDP governorship candidate based on the ruling by a Federal High Court.

The party chairman described the present administration as a government of cabals, saying Nigerians will reject them in 2019, because they don’t even know who their President is.

“Nigerians are dying in their numbers, yet the emperors of APC will be talking about integrity even more people are hungry. Nigerians will pass their judgment in 2019, you can no longer deceive Nigerians”, the chairman said.

He restated the call on INEC and the security agencies to be neutral during the 2019 elections, saying Nigerians are wiser now than before.

Secondus said, “This is a President that does not communicate, he only speaks when he goes outside the country. Nigerians are confused and cannot understand him and yet he said he’s coming back; to do what?

“You are not talking to Nigerians, you can’t persuade them, you can’t order the security agencies, you can’t order INEC. The president should be bold to call the INEC chairman and security agencies to order”

He charged President Buhari to participate in the upcoming presidential debate and not to do so by proxy.

God needs money' - Father Mbaka blasts his critics

The Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has lambasted his critics, insisting that God deserves money.

Mbaka said this while responding to criticisms over a video that went viral wherein he was seen trying to compel the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi, during the annual harvest and bazaar celebration of the church to disclose how much he would donate to his church project.

The cleric had told a reluctant Obi that God hates stinginess and if he continues to act in such a manner, he and the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would lose woefully come election day.

In a new video which was posted on Youtube by Dave Partner and has been viewed over 11,000 times, Mbaka, who spoke in English and Igbo intermittently, said God deserves money and there was nothing wrong with him asking for donations.

The cleric explained that bazaar day is strictly for raising of funds and that is the only time his church asks for donations.

Mbaka said, “There are some people who are ingrates. These are people from the kingdom of succubus and Incubus. I want to tell you that all these things are caused by jealousy and envy. They are not fighting Mbaka for anything wrong.

“Everyone who came was blessed but they turned it against me, saying I am after money. God deserves money. If you don’t want to bring your own in your stinginess, hold it. I will give God all that I have and even if anybody wants to join them, you’re free to join them.

“Where God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are, there Fr. Mbaka will be. I will build this place for the church. Whoever felt insulted, I apologise. But I didn’t come to your house. It was you who came for the bazaar.”

The cleric said all those fighting him were fighting God. He subsequently asked God to punish his detractors and those “firing arrows at him”.

Although he did not mention Obi’s name, Mbaka said any politician who had donated money to his ministry was free to send his or her bank account number and he would gladly return the donation.

He added, “As for me, I am in high spirits. I want to assure you, those who are thinking that it is their money we will use to build this ministry, before the end of tomorrow, I will send all their monies into their accounts.”

On why he demanded money from Obi publicly, the cleric said he wanted the process of donation to be open and transparent so that no one would accuse him of diverting funds.

Mbaka said every person who made a donation on the day the bazaar held did so publicly.

The cleric added, “We do it outside, publicly because if I am silent, rumours will begin to spread that someone gave me $10m and why did Mbaka keep quiet? They will abuse me even if I am silent because anytime they want to attack this ministry, they will start somewhere.

“If I am silent they will attack, if I talk, they will attack it. And don’t forget that the liturgy was not tampered with. I finished the mass and even removed my priestly attire. No one can fault me on that.”

The cleric insisted that he was not partisan, adding that every person, regardless of political leaning, was free to come to him for blessings.

Madam Who Brutalised Her Maid Over Missing Finger Nails Arrested In Lagos. Photos

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Lagos Chapter and the Girl Child Foundation, an NGO have taken up the case of a little girl named Ngozi Uba who was seriously battered by her madam Mrs. Chioma Obi for allegedly cutting her children’s finger nails without accounting for where she kept the nails.

Narrating the story to Dnllegalandstyle, a source said, “Mrs. Chioma Obi who lives in Ago Palaceway Okota, Lagos took the little girl as a house help and has been maltreating and beating her at every opportunity. On this recent occasion, she complained that Ngozi cut her children’s fingernails and branded her a witch, after which she inflicted deep cut injuries on her body leaving her in pains and agony. The poor girl still carried the wounds to school.

It was at her school, “Kingdom of God School, No. 7/9 Community Road Ago Palaceway Okota” that the fact of her ordeal was brought to the attention of the Proprietor of the school who immediately reported the case to the police. Mrs. Chioma was then arrested.

Even at the police station, Mrs. Chioma who apparently did not realize the gravity of what she did, was unrepentant and showed no remorse over her actions. It was her husband Mr. Chidozie Obi who claimed to have returned recently from Cotonou that was pleading with the police to forgive his wife and release the child back to him. He also made an undertaken to ensure that his wife does not beat the girl again.

However, things took a twist when the fact of the above incident was brought to the knowledge of FIDA Lagos and the Girl Child Foundation. They immediately swung into action refusing the whole arrangement with the Police and insisting that Mrs. Chioma must be charged to court and prosecuted. FIDA and the NGO also demanded the immediate release of the child to the NGO to enable them take her to a safe shelter.

According to the spokesperson of FIDA Lagos, the injuries are so grievous that they cannot risk allowing the woman take back the child.

They have vowed to make sure that she is charged to court and we would pursue the case until justice is gotten for little girl Chioma.
