The Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] has fired no fewer than 30 of its personnel accused of aiding electoral malpractices across the country during the 2011 general election, the electoral body has said.

Confusion In Zaria After Another Islamic Sect Clash With Soldiers.10 Killed By Troops.

The son of the Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shiite, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, Mahmud, was among the five people killed as members of the sect reportedly clashed with soldiers on Friday in Zaria, Kaduna State.Eyewitnesses said the sect’s members were on a procession to mark the annual Quds day and at the same time to condemn the military operations in Gaza by Israel, which started on July 8.It was gathered that trouble started when there was a disagreement between the sect and the soldiers at a checkpoint around the PZ roundabout in Zaria.The soldiers were said to have fired several warning shots, but the protesters were unmoved and defied the order of the soldiers.At this point, the soldiers were said to have opened fire on the protesters and Mahmud El-Zakzaky, one of the leaders of the protest, was hit by hay of bullets.Mahmud’s younger brother, Ahmed El-Zakzaky, was among the dozens of people arrested by the military.A security source, who craved for anonymity because he was not permitted to speak on the matter, confirmed the incident but said the authorities of the Army were studying the situation.As of the time of filing this report, there was confusion in the ancient city of Zaria.This is coming in the wake of a twin bomb blasts in Kaduna, which claimed over 75 lives.View original post

Ebola Virus confirmed in Lagos.

The Lagos State Government has confirmed a possible case of Ebola Virus, which is been currently investigated while treatment is on for the 40 year old Liberian, who is now a suspect, and a possible 30 others who may have had contact.

Officials of the government in a briefing noted that the 40 year old Liberian is in a private hospital in the Obalende area of the State.

The officials also noted that the hospital housing the Liberian has been cordoned off and the victim isolated.

The State government had earlier in July laid out some precautionary measures to stop the outbreak of the disease, that has ravaged neighbouring west African countries, in the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, had in a statement, said the measures became necessary with a view to preventing the outbreak of the disease in the State

He listed measures that will help in stopping the outbreak to include; washing of hands often with soap and water, avoiding close contact with people who are sick and ensuring that objects used by the sick are decontaminated and properly disposed.

He advised health workers to be at alert and ensure they always wear personal protective equipment as well as observe universal basic precautions when attending to suspected or confirmed cases, and report same to their Local Government Area or Ministry of Health immediately.

Meanwhile the Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had commenced the training of health workers to prevent the deadly Ebola virus from spreading into the country.

The training, which was held in Ibadan in April 2014, had laboratory scientists and epidemiologists from the South-West zone of the country in attendance for two weeks.

Head of the team, Dr. John Oladejo, told journalists that those involved received training on mode of transmission, prevention and control measure against the deadly virus.

He warned that the disease is difficult and expensive to manage.

Ebola has killed 632 people across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since an outbreak began in February.

Another Bomb Explosion Reported In Kano.

Less than 14 hours after a twin explosion killed hundreds in Kaduna, the rampaging terrorists have decided to focus on neighbouring Kano today, as fresh reports reaching NigerianEye revealed that a bomb explosion just occurred few minutes ago in a popular motor park in Sabon-Gari area on Kano.
The blast ripped through the city’s central motor park, residents said.
The details of the Kano attack and the number of casualties are unclear.

The police spokesperson for Kano State, Magaji Majiya, told NigerianEye he was on his way to the scene “to find out exactly what happened”.

MD-83 around 50 minutes into the flight after

was last picked up on radar at 1.55am GMT
and should have landed in the Algerian capital
around three hours later.
'I can confirm that it has crashed,' the official
said, declining to give details of where the
plane was or what caused the accident.
Around 50 French citizens were among the
110 passengers on board, the airline's
representative in Burkina Faso told a news
conference in Ouagadougou, where the plane
took off.
There were also Spanish nationals on board,
including all six of the crew.

Gen Buhari Discribes How He Narrowly Escaped Bomb Attack.

Former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari has described how he narrowly escaped a bomb attack on his convoy Wednesday in Kaduna.In a short statement, Mr. Buhari said he was the target of the bomber.

“I was personally involved in a clearly targeted bomb attack today along Ali Akilu Road, Kawo-Kaduna at about 2:30pm on my way to Daura,” Mr. Buhari said.

“The unfortunate event, clearly an assassination attempt, came from a fast moving vehicle that made many attempts to overtake my security car but was blocked by my escort vehicle.

“We reached the market area of Kawo where he took advantage of our slowing down and attempted to ram my car and instantly detonated the bomb which destroyed all the three cars in our convoy,” Mr. Buhari said.

Gen Muhammadu Buhari Escapes Bomb Attack.See His Damaged Vehicle.

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari survived a bomb attack in Kaduna, as his vehicle was destroyed.This attack occurred as a second explosion rocked the Kaduna metropolis some hours ago.

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, narrowly escaped death when a bomb went off in the Kawo area of Kaduna state today, affecting his car.

He was reportedly on his way to Daura when the blast occurred, injuring some aides, although he was not hurt.

According to Jasper Azuatalam, a Buhari supporter and head of the Movement for Accountabilituly and Good Governance; “The bomb blast was said to be targeted at Buhari, as the bombers trailed his convoy and detonated the bomb very close to his convoy, injuring his security and personal aides. However, the General is in good condition apart from the trauma of the incidence.”Azuatalam also shared this photo of the vehicle the general was allegedly riding in.

This secretariat was built by Gov Aper Aku,and accommodates almost all the ministries plus The Head of service office,Ministry of finance as well as the Accountant General's office.
