Teenage Gay Cult Known As "Nyash"Discovered In Warri.

A cult of teenage homosexuals patronized by gay men has been found in Warri, Delta state.

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan made the disclosure in his Easter message to Deltans at the First Baptist Church, Warri on Sunday.

According to him, teenagers between ages 15 to 18 belong to a sect named Nyash, and live in rented apartments close to Enerhen Junction, Warri, where men come to sleep with them.

“These are our sons and men come to sleep with them. It is through the Edu Marshals Programme that we discovered them. We used to know about female harlots, now we have male harlots. Unfortunately, they are young boys. There is much government can do, but there is more we can do as parents.” Uduaghan said

He concluded by challenging parents to live up to the realities of today’s society as crimes committed daily are committed by children.

How Guards Foiled Attack On St Robert Cath Church Gbem-Tsambe.In Benue State.

The parish priest in charge of Saint Robert Catholic Church, Gbem-Tsambe  in Vandeikya Local government area of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Gregory Ugah yesterday explained how the church guards foiled an attempt by a suspected terrorist to bomb the place when the congregation were going on with Easter activities.LEADERSHIP gathered that some heavily armed terrorists suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, weekend, stormed the Catholic church with arms and substances believed to be chemical weapon to kill the worshippers. The situation caused confusion and many worshippers were reportedly injured.More than 3,000 worshippers had gathered at the church yard to commence celebration of the Easter vigil when the suspected terrorists made a surprise incursion into the place and the church guards accosted them.It was learnt that one of the insurgents had branched at a local market located beside the church and approached a woman selling food in the market with a pretence to eat but the woman did not understand the language he spoke and requested the assistance of an interpreter who during interrogation later discovered that the suspect was a Fulani herdsman.

Now That The PDP And The APC Are The Same: Who Should We Vote For?

image

Elections are exactly one year and few days away. The APC isn't looking like the knight in shining armour we all thought it was. In fact, in recent days, its armour of integrity and progress has been brought down with their joyous acceptance of former PDP stalwarts who haven't shown any change in ideologies to the electorate. It is that simple, and it clearly shows the extent politicians will go to secure victory. While I was penning down thoughts for this article I considered several titles. Then I came across this tweet from  "The fairy god-sister, @ChiomaChuka" which read "Now that the APC and PDP are different only in name" I realised it perfectly captured what I wished to portray.Things have never been more complex for the Nigerian voter. If you hate the PDP and what they stand for, you might want to vote the next viable option, seemingly APC, then you remember, they have Fashola as well as Femi Fani Kayode, they have El Rufai as well as Attahiru Bafarawa. The list goes on and on. In some quarters, it has been pointed out the APC are going after Governors and aggrieved power brokers in the PDP because they know in 2015 it is going to be 'free and fair rigging'. So, despite all our moves and movements from Move Change to Generational Voices to 20 Million Youths, politicians are still looking us in the face and saying, 'We simply can't allow your votes count. We shall go on with the usual (s)elections process. Only this time we're going to form a party to serve PDP a little bit of its medicine'. As pragmatic as that sounds, it will breed more bottlenecks than solutions. We cannot allow politicians run the system like this. Our elections cannot be hijacked simply by the party with the highest number of governors, or senators or election rigging machinery in whatever form. That been said, majority of voters vote based on peer direction. Let me explain what I mean by that. While I was in the University of Jos, student union elections came and went and I noticed, most votes (except those obtained by rigging) came from friends who decided to vote a candidate because their contemporary, friend, peer, or course mate liked the candidate. They assumed if I like A, and A thinks candidate B is a good person. Then candidate B will get my votes ahead of candidate C or D.When we vote, be it in a classroom of 50 to choose a rep, a local government or a nation of 160 million, we must seek to rise above our need to conform to our peers and maintain some level of individuality while, at the same time, thinking of the good of our society. While voting for someone because our best friend says he is a good candidate might not be a mortal sin, it isn't exactly a personal decision which voting ought to be.Let's look at the 2015 elections from a new perspective. Wear the shoes of a journalist or a concerned constituent and interview your prospective state assembly rep, or local government chairman or state governor or president. What are the issues that concern you most? If you live in a locality without water, what has the local authority done to salvage the situation? Why did you switch to the PDP or vice versa? Does that mean you don't see any contradiction between both parties? Or your ideologies have changed? If yes, what prompted this change? How do you think your new party's manifesto will benefit the people? What is your solution to Boko Haram? What legislation will you pursue after winning? Continuity is often a challenge, what projects do you think would continue when you get into office and why? And so on.Not to lie, it is difficult and heart breaking when we think of the answers a good number of our politicians will offer to these questions. As we have come to expect, it will probably sound like this " We are on top of the situation...eeerrrmmm... I will bring Boko Haram and their supporters to book, I will set up a committee to address the situation" etc Absolutely not! That's not what I am talking about. We have to shift from accepting ambiguity to only agreeing to clear cut solutions. If a politician's answer doesn't offer a deep thought, well researched, and strategic solution tailored to fit particular scenarios, I'm afraid it would be tantamount to going around backwards and in circles or giving the shark a new name and expecting us to believe it is now a vegetarian. We cannot shy away from certain issues. For example, it is 2014, six years away from vision 2020:20 and Nigeria hasn't fixed its electric power generations. This issue must be thrashed out, with candidates sharing their laid out short term and long term plans. With blueprints to back them up. Need I state what a Herculean task it is to think we can be industrialised without stable electricity?Education is still backward in Africa's most populous nation. Candidates must show clearly how they plan to re-position this sector. They must show key areas they feel must be hammered into line, areas we haven't explored well enough, with pragmatic case studies and expected results like number of jobs to be created, how much our economy will save in the long run etc.Reducing the recurrent expenditure aspect of our budget has to be one of the most prominent issues come the next election. Numerous economists have stressed how unsustainable our budget system is. Others have said it is a time bomb and, like bombs, disarming can be tricky. We expect campaigns to offer us step by step plans and achievable solutions to counter this problem. The issue of security cannot be over emphasised. From Boko Haram in the north to militants in the Niger Delta to communal clashes in the middle belt. Politicians cannot continue to offer the usual solutions we've been hearing over and over again. It won't work, it shouldn't work in 2015. Also, they must look at other issues such as provision of markets for our agricultural goods, weaning Nigeria off dependence on oil revenue, pursuing a better foreign policy that positions Nigeria as a much more worthy regional power, strengthening local manufacturing, improving aviation sector. The list seems endless.President Obama once said  "Change doesn't come from Washington, it comes to Washington" and I dare paraphrase it as "Change doesn't come from any political party, elder statesman or perceived hero, it comes to the said party, elder statesman or hero". Change is us, the whole 160 million lot of us. Let us remember that as we move closer to 2015.When we vote, be it in a classroom of 50 to choose a rep, a local government or a nation of 160 million, we should be seeking that candidate that is nearest in line with our thoughts, ideas, thinking. We should be looking to vote someone who thinks like us. Consequently, what we truly need to do is to vote ourselves into office. My earnest prayers is may we find that candidate (or those candidates) with whom majority of us can associate with come 2015.

Boko Haram Threatens President Jonathan,Claims Responsibilty For Nyanya Bomb Blast.

Abubakar Shekau, leader of the militant Boko Haram Islamist group, yesterday claimed responsibility for last week’s bombing of a crowded bus station in Nyanya Motor Park, Abuja, the nation’s capital. The twin bomb blasts killed at least 75 people and left hundreds seriously wounded. The outlawed insurgent commander made the claims in a 28-minute video message posted online on yesterday. He also took time out to threaten more attacks, telling President Goodluck Jonathan that his men are already stationed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs.Shekau who spoke in Arabic and Hausa in the video boasted, “We are the ones that carried out the attack in Abuja.” The deadliest attack ever in the federal capital targeted a bus station in the Nyanya area of the capital city where early morning commuters and other people were caught in the explosion.Dressed in military uniform and seated with a Kalashnikov resting on his left shoulder, Shekau addressed President Jonathan directly saying, “We are in your city.”The video, which comes nearly a week after the dastardly act, confirms initial speculations by military and government authorities that the bombing was carried out by insurgents loyal to the Abubakar Shekau-led Boko Haram Islamist group.Shekau’s latest video was released just as the search continued for 85 schoolgirls still missing after a mass abduction of students in a boarding school by the Islamists also suspected to be Boko Haram fighters.Hours after the Abuja bombing, gunmen stormed a girls’ school in the northeast and kidnapped 129 students, an attack also blamed on Boko Haram that has sparked global outrage. Forty-four of the girls have escaped so far, according to officials of the school and Military authorities.Parents have been scouring the bush for days looking for the kidnapped girls. “We have been contributing money to buy fuel for motorcycles and vehicles to help in the search of our innocent daughters.”Shekau and his men, blamed for killing thousands since 2009, claim they are fighting perceived imbalance in the system and they want to create an Islamic state in northern Nigeria.Boko Haram, which means “Western education is forbidden”, has been attacking schools, homes, church, mosques and government buildings since it started the five-year uprising.

Travel Warnings Issued Against Nigeria.

As Global Frustration Trails Terror Attacks NIGERIA’S failing security situation is causing a global sense of frustration and there is fear of possible isolation, judging from western nations’ responses to the increasing wave of terror attacks in the country.    Following significant negative media attention on an international scale, about 20 countries have advised their citizens to stay away from Nigeria, mostly due to last week’s terror attacks. Even at the United Nations, where Nigeria is currently holding the gavel as this month’s President of the Security Council, there is a sense of frustration, as four major official statements criticised the state of insecurity in Nigeria.     Specifically, the Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has had to issue two statements of the four critical statements on the Nigeria terror attacks within three days. His first statement was on Monday the 14th after the Nyanya Bus station bombing, and then on Wednesday after the kidnapping of over 100 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State.   Then, from the Security Council, where Prof Joy Ogwu has been presiding as rotating president for April, came the third UN statement on the suspected Boko Haram attacks this week. UNICEF, again, issued a strongly worded statement after the abduction of the schoolgirls, making it the fourth UN statement condemning the situation in Nigeria. UN sources believe this is not a very good sign for the country’s image, considering its standing at the UN.      Diplomatic sources also hinted that Ogwu, the Nigeria’s Permanent Representative and notable female Ambassador in the UN community in New York, has had to shoulder the frustrating responsibility of chairing the Security Council with the burden of knowing her own country itself is a major international security concern. Not surprisingly, it is believed that Ogwu’s moral authority as Council President has been severely weakened by the rising threat of Boko Haram terrorism during Nigeria’s presidency rotation this month.      All the four UN statements showed a deep sense of international outrage but also of frustration at the seemingly helplessness of the Nigerian government to effectively control the situation. In fact, some of the statements noted that international laws are being broken with impunity in Nigeria. In its statement condemning both acts of terror, UNICEF called “for greater efforts to protect all children throughout Nigeria,” and that “the Nigerian government should urgently take steps to make sure that the children are returned to their families unharmed and that they can continue their education in a safe environment.”    On the other hand, travel warnings against Nigeria are fast becoming the new international fad. While countries like the US have already issued several warnings to its citizens about Nigeria, it has updated the advisory earlier this year and has kept those travel advisories in force up until now. But more nations are doing the same after last week set of terrorist attacks in Abuja and Borno State. According to a statement from Canada’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, in an updated advisory released over the weekend, Canadians have been advised to avoid “non-essential travel to Nigeria,” declaring that “the security situation throughout the country is unpredictable, and there is a significant risk of terrorism, crime, inter-communal clashes, armed attacks and kidnappings.”The very detailed warning was updated after the Nyanya bus stop bombing and the kidnap of over 100 girls in Borno State both of which happened last week.  In its current travel advisory on Nigeria, the US government categorically warned its citizens, recommending that “US citizens avoid all travel to Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.” The US government further added that the security situation in Nigeria “remains fluid and unpredictable.”    From the Australian government also came, this week, an updated travel warning to its citizens against going to Nigeria. According to the statement from the Australian Foreign Affairs and Trade Department, an updated warning against Nigeria was issued last Tuesday April 15, a day after the Nyanya bus stop bombing.   “Australians in Nigeria are reminded that, in recent years, places of worship have been attacked during Easter period. We continue to advise Australians to reconsider their need to travel to Nigeria at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack, the high risk of kidnapping, the unpredictable security situation, the heightened risk of violent civil unrest and the high level of violent crime,” the official warning stressed.   The situation is the same in the United Kingdom. On April 16, two days after the Nyanya attack, the UK government also updated its travel warning to its citizens ruling out all travel by its citizens to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Gombe states. The same advisory was made by the British government regarding travel to Kano city, Okene, riverine states and Warri city. That travel warning also referenced the Nyanya attack. At the European Union, several other western nations have also asked its citizens to avoid travel to Nigeria. They are France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.
