Some brands just approach bloggers to publish a pre-written sponsored posts on their blogs for a fixed amount. In some cases, the bloggers don’t have to write the post. They just need to review the post and make little tweaks before publishing the post.

FAAC: FG, States, LGs share August allocation [Breakdown]

Federal, states and local governments on Thursday shared N714.8 billion revenue generated in July.

The figure indicated a decline of N107.1 billion when compared to what was generated in June.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the outcome of the monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting, highlighted several factors that impacted negatively on the month’s income.

“Crude oil exports sales volume was 3.74 million barrels showing an increase of 0.17 million barrels when compared with the previous month sales of 3.57 million barrels.

“Despite the improved revenue, production was negatively affected in the period by shut-ins and shut-down at various terminals for repairs and maintenance of ageing facilities.

“The value Added Tax (VAT), import duty, Companies Income Tax (CIT) and Oil Royalty decreased, while Petroleum Profit Tax recorded an increase,” she said.

Adeosun, giving a breakdown of the revenue generated, said that N376.14 billion was generated as mineral revenue, while N221.8 billion came from non-mineral resources.

The minister said that Federal Government received N269.8 billion, states N136.85 billion and local government N105.5 billion.

She said that N44.96 billion was also shared among the oil producing states, representing 13 per cent of the oil revenue generated in the month of July.

Group Slams Kaduna Senators Over Hate Campaign

Gov. El-Rufai and Sen. Sani

… You Can’t Stop APC in 2019

A social political group under the aegis of Kaduna Redemption Group, has described the hate campaign mounted against the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration by Senators Shehu Sani of Kaduna Central and Senator Danjuma Leah of Kaduna South, as cheap blackmail.

The chairman of the group, Yahaya Muhammed who made this known in a press statement issued to newsmen in Abuja, said citizens have been able to observe among other things that the level hate speech at both state and federal level is a product of an alliance with the anti Buhari elements and sundry treasury looters that has one reason, to frustrate both the Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-rufai and the president from securing a second term in office.

Muhammed who called on the people of the state to brace up for the defence of the mandate given to the governor, said the senators have no power to block to sabotage the efforts of the government to develop state.

He however called on the people of the state to continue to give maximum support to a government imbued with vision, tenacity of purpose, dedication, democratic minded and unshakable spirit.

“Let us give governor el-Rufai a chance to make the needed difference and there by write his name on the marble of history as most progressive and development minded in the history of the state.

“It is an established fact that the Senators are not happy that el-Rufai administration in Kaduna state is recording a remarkable progress in terms of Kaduna becoming one of the investment destinations in the country as demonstrated by Olam farm’s presence in the state.

The effective tax policies being evolved to generate revenues for government service the revolution in the educational sector and pragmatic leadership that is blocking leakages and every atom of corruption without let or hindrance are beyond one’s imagination,” he said.

THE STATEMENT

PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY KADUNA REDEMPTION GROUP ON 30TH AUGUST, 2018 TITLED SENATOR SHEHU SANI: POTRAIT OF CONTROVERSY, INCOSISTENCY AND OPPURTUNISM

Having followed his antecedent which is deeply rooted in opportunism, mischief, pretence, blackmail; negative credentials that are surplus commodity among some Nigerian politicians and activists,we have seen in him an ambitious power monger with an unquenchable appetite for materialism and stardom. Writing this piece on him and fellow collaborators is therefore not by accident but a call to duty and well thought out decision anchored on the need for comprehensive assessment of the man, his character and political traits.

On the recent disguise Sallah homage of Shehu Sani to President Buhari in Daura, we must raise alarm that he longer enjoys the confidence of his constituents and APC members in Kaduna State. It is a known fact Shehu stained himself by becoming a willing tool in the leprous hands of anti-Buhari elements. Most notoriously he is rationalizing their misdeeds against the APC government. It is also beyond contention that he is a mole in APC working for opposition forces against the re-election of Mr. President. There are disquieting indicators of his reason for remaining in the party to achieve a sinister slide back to the detriment of the APC family.

Since he ventured into public consciousness he maintained a deceptive stand and brazenly compromised on all issues with direct bearing to the interest of Northerners.

It all started during the struggle for the revalidation of the 12 June annulled presidential election, when Abacha bared his fangs at the height of his staying power. In apparent quest for money and thirst for names dropping amidst greed, he approached an influential figure in the Abacha regime under the guise of giving the government a classified information on the role of some 12 June campaigners in the phantom coup against the Abacha despotic rule that framed up Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, Gen Shehu Musa Yaradua and others in which the functionaries of the regime saw an opportunity to rope Shehu in the list of the plotters in order to shore up numbers of the suspects from the core north that was limited to only Gen Yaradua, Col Lawan Gwadabe, Capt Ibrahim Alpha, Alhaji Sanusi Mato and selected few.

The death of Abacha and the subsequent decision of Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar his successor to set free political detainees of the said era with Gen Obasanjo, Col Fadile, Col Gwadabe, Kunle Ajibade Chris Anyanwu among others paved the way for the regaining of his freedom and follow up integration into the larger Nigeria society.

Not a few always view him with measured suspicions, knowing his antecedent and contradictory principles. He started with raining insults against Northern leaders, traditional institutions and politicians in the day time, only to crawl back at night with his tails between his legs to go back to the same people he abused in the media seeking for favours and dubious reconciliatory gestures. In a typical case of blackmail and extortion. Some of his victims are former governors, serving governors and some of his present colleagues in the red chambers. As things began to unfold, he unleashed vitriolic attacks in his unrepentant fashion. Some of them revealed their ordeals in his hands.?

Note that it takes mischief and blackmail of the highest pedigree for him to arrive at his present position as Senator. He first elevated his notoriety with presentation of a book credited to him as the so called author titled killing fields in which he said so many terrible and negative things to the detriment of Northern Nigeria as geographical entity and as people. He crowned the satanic verses with another blasphemous publication titled Phantom Crescent in which he denigrated so many things that even his grandparents represented.

In his characteristic manner the issue of a kidnapped British girl became either another avenue for making money or a case of psychiatric evaluation bearing in mind the years he spent in prison during his detention under the Abacha misrule. The toddler known as Madeleine McCann disappeared from the bedroom of her family vacation apartment on the cusp of her 4th birthday, in the Algarve Region of Portugal. The scene of Shehu’s press outing was the conference hall of Abuja’s famous Transcorp Hilton Hotel where he gathered herbalists, spiritualists and marabouts with their charms and herbs. He presented himself as Co Chairman of the Hand in Hand African Organization. According to him since the western technology has failed to locate the whereabout of the little girl, the Nigerian spiritual healers and herbalists are set to surprise the world. He promised that within seven days from Monday May 28th2007 the where about of Madeleine McCann will be known.

Even years after the dubious claim of seven days promised and to show the level of bankruptcy and integrity deficit associated with his name, yet there is not a single word from himself and the marabouts presented to the world vindicating their prowess and ability to rescue the girl particularly after the Portuguese police placed a reward of 2.5 million pledged by celebrities such as JK Rowling, Sir Richard Branson and Wayne Rooney on information that will lead to her discovery.

In the course of his journey to notoriety and controversy, he started a campaign “the prosecute Obasanjo or forgot anti-graft war” crusade, a sinister campaign of calumny against the former President for his refusal to make him Special Assistant on Public Affairs during his second term in office. Equally, he joined the bandwagon of Yaradua must break away from Obasanjo to succeed empty sloganeering. He still holds a former minister and the eventual appointee as the SA to the president contempt and responsible for his inability to get the position that he then wanted desperately.

In a typical turn coat and opportunistic fashion reminiscence to where a dog goes back to his vomit, he went back to seek for Baba Obj’s forgiveness in order to use him in one of his numerous scams. He convinced him to participate in the negotiation and mediation for peace with Boko Haram. They even traveled to Maiduguri and met a member of late Mohammed Yusuf’s in law family which after their departure Boko Haram killed. The same Obasanjo he abused and insulted without regard and consideration.
Obasanjo appointed him into several prominent committees during his tenure in office. A classical ”nit-wit” and a scoundrel called the same Obasanjo that appointed him a member of several juicy committee unprintable names is now replicating similar treacherous tendency, extending his stock in trade of mischief and blackmail against president Muhammadu Buhari and others that resisted his terrible antics. It is no longer surprising that he is against everyone including President Buhari who is a serial victim of his character assassination.

As a result of his activities alongside his other collaborators the citizens of the state decide that it is no longer golden to play the Pontius Pilate, the sign of the changing times and the things to come in bothKaduna state and Nigeria are unmistakable with the recent chasing away of the disgruntled elements from their hide out during one the clandestine meetings where they were planning to destabilize the peace in Kaduna state and undermine the Buhari administration at the national level.

More significantly the citizens have been able to observe among other things that the level of hate campaign mounted by them against the APC administration at both state and federal level is a product of an alliance with the anti Buhari elements and sundry treasury looters that has one reason, to frustrate both the Governor of Kaduna and the president from securing a second term in office, people keeps wondering what is the connection between him and the opposition politicians to the extent of Shehu becoming their mouth piece against the Buhari administration.

What could be discerned from available records, the two Senators remains the most ungrateful elected Senators the APC has ever produced. They are obsessed with the quest to remain in power and ever desperate to be in charge. Let us remind them that without the goodwill of President Buhari that mercifully endorsed them from the political obscurity, oblivion, irrelevance and from the backwaters of reoccurringopportunism and failures at the expense of a more credible, patriotic and grounded intellectual like Comrade Salihu Lukman and Comrade Uba Sani. Just as providence had regretted that it created deviant men, we are certain that Muhammad Buhari president of Nigeria is now brooding over his mistaken endorsement of the duo and their fellow traitors in the red chambers.

As for Senator Danjuma Laah of the PDP was not renowned for a principled position on any issue became the butt of the public after realizing that he is under the radar of the anti corruption agencies for code of conduct infringement and sundry during his past civil service days. We hold the view that they are going against the grain of public opinion in their conducts, as they should expect unmistakable response from the people beyond reproach.

It is instructive to mention the subtle attempt towards crippling the administration Governor El-Rufai and the well-being of the state by the three Senators from Kaduna State in the red chambers. Their ignore-minable role and betrayal of sacred trust given to them by the people is to say the least unfortunate. They rejected the foreign loan granted Kaduna State knowing fully well that Governor El-Rufai only inherited very startling debt profile he is not the one that acquired it. Curiously, they granted loan request of Lagos with highest debt profile and request of Ogun State among other states too.

Instead of using their position to find out how Kaduna State came to inherit such huge debt and what such debt has been used for. In fact Sen Hunkuyi deserves to be interrogated being a onetime Commissioner of Finance in the state to tell the people those inherited debts that are authentic and those fictitious.

It appears there is a grand design by some selected Senators to destabilize governance in their respective states. With Parliamentarians like them in the National Assembly, we are afraid that Nigeria’s democracy is doomed.

We urge the much blackmailed Governor El-Rufai and betrayed people of the state to brace up for the defence of the mandate given to the state Governor. It is not the duty of the Senators to block good things coming to the state. We are astonished that they are busy becoming the stumbling block to the progress and development of the state.

The Governor is also a victim of conspiracy for his stubborn refusal to open the treasury of the state to the Senators for sharing, thus attracting misplaced criticisms and unwarranted campaign of distraction for vowing to only service the poor at government expenses. This is major reason why anti progressive forces across board are working to suffocate El-Rufai whom they identified as threat to their survival a part from President Buhari whom they fingered as their greatest nemesis.

It is an established fact that the Senators are not happy that El-Rufai administration in Kaduna state is recording a remarkable progress in terms of Kaduna becoming one of the investment destinations in the country as demonstrated by Olam farm’s presence in the state.

The effective tax policies being evolved to generate revenues for government service the revolution in the educational sector and pragmatic leadership that is blocking leakages and every atom of corruption without let or hindrance. In addition to small scale industries that are generating employment beyond one’s imagination.

We urge the people of the state to continue to give maximum support to a government imbued with vision, tenacity of purpose, dedication, democratic minded and unshakable spirit. Let us give Governor El-Rufai a chance to make the needed difference and there by write his name on the marble of history as most progressive and development minded in the history of the state

NCPC to collaborate with the Knights of St. Mulumba to promote pilgrimage to Uganda

Rev. Uja

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev, Uja Tor Uja has promised to join forces with the Knight of St. Mulumba to promote Pilgrimage to Uganda. He stated this recently in Abuja while playing host to the national Executive members of the order of the Knights of St. Mulumba, Nigeria.

In the words of the NCPC boss, “I believe that this Pilgrimage to Uganda is a blessing to Africa,” affirming that a team from the Commission would be sent to Uganda from this year and next May on a fact finding mission; for contact building and information documentation of the holy site. He assured that the Commission would partner with KSM to make Uganda Pilgrimage the center of Africa Pilgrimage.

The NCPC helmsman also stressed the need to have a conference of St. Mulumba together in order to discuss the issue of Pilgrimage to Uganda holistically.

He also hinted that the Commission’s policy on Pilgrimage must include Israel which is the cradle of our Christian religion. He therefore charged his guests to ensure that Israel must be part of the Pilgrimage arrangement for Uganda. He explained that going to Israel should be a perpetual reminder of our Christian faith.

He commended the Catholic Church for the way and manner they have been involved in missionary works across the globe. According to him, “the Catholic Church has got the correct global perspective of missionary work.”

He urged the Catholic Church to partner with other churches in the promotion of Pilgrimage to Uganda. He asserted that the Commission would want Pilgrimage to be holistically developmental and would want all the churches to come together for every Pilgrimage, because the Commission would ensure that Pilgrimage would be interdenominational.

He further informed that every church must register and be certified with the Commission before they would be allowed to travel on Pilgrimage to reduce and check the menace of absconders.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, the Supreme knight, Bro. Diamond Ovueraye thanked the Executive Secretary for granting them audience. He informed the NCPC boss that the order of the knights of St. Mulumba, Nigeria was established in 1953 by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN).

He defined “Pilgrimage as a journey of faith, to a place of faith for an increase of faith.” He explained that in 2003, the order commenced the yearly pilgrimage to Uganda, to allow members and Christian faithful (Clergy, Religious and Laity) visit the home of Uganda Martyrs and participate in the annual Martyr Day June celebrations held every 3rd of June. According to the Supreme Knight, the objectives of the Knights of St. Mulumba Pilgrimage to Uganda are to make that country the home of Uganda Martyrs the center piece of Africa Pilgrimage.

He sort the assistance of the NCPC boss to officially recognize KSM yearly Pilgrimage to Uganda as one of the Christian Pilgrimages. He stated that the period of the Pilgrimage is usually between 28 or 29 of May to 4th or 5th of June.

He solicited Rev. Uja’s support in the effective promotion of Pilgrimage to Uganda through the organs of NCPC.

In another development, the Executive Secretary of NCPC also received in audience Executive Members of the Association of Virtuous Women in Pilgrimage and Tourism in Nigeria, led by the founder/CEO, Lady Chy Schwimmer.

Rev Uja averred that “Pilgrimage is something noble and as such every willing Christian should have the opportunity to participate at-least once in a life time”.

He intimated the AVWOPAT women that the Commission’s Maiden Women Pilgrimage to Israel recorded a huge success, stating that it was the best ever organized pilgrimage of the Commission as the women were exposed to a lot of empowerment drive in Israel.

According to the NCPC boss “We are hoping that the NCPC Women Pilgrimage will be an annual exercise”.

Earlier, Mrs. Schwimmer told the Executive Secretary that they were in NCPC to see how they could partner with the Commission and Government. Her words: “we felt there is need to carry the women along in the programme of government.”

She further expatiated that part of the reasons for their visit was to go to Israel to pray and explore Nigeria Tourism.

Man Proposes to His Girlfriend on the Side of a Cow

Did the proposal moooove her to tears?
Let's find out....

According to BBC News, Chris Gospel knew for a long time that he wanted Eilidh Fraser to be his wife.

But the Aberdeenshire resident wasn't certain just how to make this romantic dream into a reality. He wasn't quite sure how to make his proposal one she would always remember.

And then it occurred to Gospel that Fraser loved her cow, Curlytop, and Gospel loved her -- so why not combine those two loves?!?

And that's how he ended up snapping the photo you see above.

"Curlytop is Eilidh's favorite cow," Gospel told the BBC simply, explaining of his now-fiancee:

"She is around the cows most nights so I managed to write the proposal, and then said we should go down and see her after she got back from work."

It's unclear at this moment just what Chris used to write the proposal on the side of the cow.

Some sort of paint, we presume; a kind that can easily be washed off.

“Chris just said, ‘do you want to go check the cows?’ and I was not expecting anything," Eilidh said of how she got blown away by the proposal, elaborating as follows:

"Curlytop... is an affectionate cow – she’s like a big pet.

"She comes running to us and I see she has something blue on her. Curlytop turns and it says ‘will you marry me’. It was a complete surprise."

Gospel says he did get down on one knee for the major moment and that Fraser said yes right away.

The latter, who works as a the veterinary lab assistant, says the couple is now trying to find a wedding venue at which Curlytop will be permitted to attend.

That may be a challenge.

Still, we wish Chris and Eilidh nothing but the best.

We hope they milk this cool cow story for all the publicity and even all the money for their wedding that they possibly can.

Breaking: Tambuwal picks PDP presidential nomination form

Tambuwal picks PDP presidential nomination form

Following months of intensive consultations, Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal yesterday obtained his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest the Presidency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Tambuwal who a few weeks ago defected to the PDP from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), told journalists that the consensus option is part of the democratic process even as he noted that there is nothing wrong should the aspirants rally behind one of them to fly the ticket of the party.

He said, “I can’t say there is no need for consensus; it is part of democratic process. If there is a possibility of it, why not? If it is not possible, then, we all go for the primaries. But I believe that PDP of today is capable of organising free, fair, credible and transparent primaries.”

On how he intends to realize his ambition as an opposition political figure, Tambuwal said: ‎‎
“I believe you need to check back my political antecedents. I have always been confronted with this kind of hostile environment. You remember how I emerged as Speaker of House of Representatives and how I remained there as Speaker. So I am not discouraged by whatever may come up as a challenge from this administration.

He described the herdsmen/ farmers’ crisis as a major security concern to every Nigeria, promising to tackle the perennial crisis headlong if given the chance to preside over the affairs of the nation.

Igbatigbi @Zekeri said ‘Saraki is a the award winning for 2018 joker of the year.’

Even Saraki is not worthy to be our President. We are NOT fools. Buhari deceived us in a similar way in 2015. We need someone different

Saraki wanted the Presidency seat far back in the early 2000’s, So declaring now is no news. My concerns are…
1. How PDP will scale through primaries without rancor
2. If PDP have Presidential zoning nd strength at heart.
3. Does the South-west has his backing.

I said probably o! 😂
I’m not sure anyone else is strong enough to defeat Buhari. Saraki is a much better option. But let’s hear/see what he has to offer first.

Saraki, your decision goes with the plan of Nigerians, we are looking for someone to rescue Nigeria. The one that any president meet will like to meet again. Not lifeless.

So what is wrong with ambition? I don’t see how an eye on the presidency affected his tenure at the senate. If Buhari weren’t ambitious, would he contest FOUR times? And for that matter, Saraki’s tenure was the most productive since 1999, e.g., the PIGB

I want the PDP to give their ticket to Saraki or Atiku. Especially Atiku. His embarrassment will start from Adamawa. We go shock am to his bone marrow

In the PDP Presidential Race as it stands now, I need to toss a coin.
Atiku; Head, Saraki; Tail.

Saraki during his declaration said

“No matter who you voted for or what your convictions are, government must work for you.

“I have decided to answer the call of teeming youth who have asked me to run for president.

“Accordingly, I hereby announce my intention to run for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the coming general elections in 2019 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“I do so with the firm conviction that I have what it takes to secure inclusive growth for Nigeria and Nigerians.

“My plan for Nigeria has inclusion in all aspects of the country’s affairs as a central pillar.”

Saraki said that the young generation did not deserve to “live in the poverty capital of the world’’.

“It is no longer an issue of how we got here, but how do we get out of this situation? I promise you that I will lead the fight and employ every God-given resource available to us in turning things around.

“I am determined to grow Nigeria out of poverty. We will stimulate the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as one of the ways of energising the economy and to create wealth for our people, especially the youth.

“I want to see the youth play major roles at all levels, not only in government but also in the private sector and indeed in every area of Nigerian life.

“This will be a government driven by youthful energy, innovation and a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit.

“Nigerian youth will be given all the opportunities to realise their potential to the full within a national framework that guarantees inclusiveness.

Princess Diana considered wearing a burka in Saudi Arabia, sketches reveal

Princess Diana considered wearing a burka while visiting Saudi Arabia on a 1986 tour of the Gulf states, it has emerged.

Sketches of outfits designed for the princess' visit 32 years ago have come to light and they included a burka.

Before Diana and Prince Charles embarked on their 1986 tour, one of her favourite designers was asked to make dresses which "conformed to local customs".

The husband and wife team, David and Elizabeth Emanuel, who made Diana's wedding dress, submitted sketches for four different demure, long-sleeved outfits.

These were a navy and white stripe coat over a white dress, a black and white silk satin evening dress, a purple evening dress and a white silk evening dress.

The fifth, "reserve" outfit, which was also sketched, was a burka that would have covered Diana from head to toe with only a gap for her eyes.

It is not believed that Diana wore a burka during the trip, but the fact she was willing to consider it shows her sensitivity to other cultures.

The sketches, and fabric samples for the outfits, have now emerged for sale with US auction house RR Auctions. The collection has been given an estimated value of £24,000.

Lady-in-waiting: 'Modesty is order of the day'

A letter, dated June 2, 1986, sent to the Emmanuels by Diana's lady-in-waiting, Anne Beckwith-Smith, outlined the strict requirements for her garments during the tour.

She wrote: "Certain special requirements concerning dress need to be observed and I am writing to ask if it would be possible to submit to The Princess of Wales a few sketches for day and evening wear from which Her Royal Highness could select items for this tour.

"Their Royal highnesses will be visiting Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. In all cases modesty is the order of the day."

An invoice for the dresses also features in the sale revealing they cost between £275 and £450 each. The collection has been consigned for sale by a private collector and it is believed that this is the first time it has emerged on the market.

Bobby Livingston, executive vice president of RR Auctions, said: "Princess Diana tried to conform to local customs by wearing concealing clothes, but still exposed her neck and left her head uncovered.

"At evening banquets, she appeared in the long sleeved demure dresses made especially for the tour. She did not have to wear the 'reserve outfit' burka depicted in this archive.

"It's a remarkable, comprehensive archive from the famously stylish royal."

Diana and Charles made a whistlestop six-day tour of Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in November 1986.

In Saudi Arabia, she was invited to King Fahd's palace, a rare honour for a woman, although she was not allowed to dine with the men.

The Emanuels designed more than 100 outfits for Diana for special occasions and for when she travelled abroad.

The sale takes place on September 25.

Syrian migrant in Germany beaten with iron chain as police brace for more far‑Right violence

There were renewed far-Right protests in Germany on Thursday night as violent attacks against migrants spread across the east of the country.

Around 800 protestors gathered in Chemnitz, the scene of neo-Nazi riots earlier in the week following the suspected killing of a man by two immigrants.

Protestors faced off against police outside a political meeting where regional officials sought to calm residents but the situation appeared peaceful as night fell.

Hundreds of miles to the north, a Syrian man was seriously injured after he was attacked and beaten with an iron chain by three Germans in a sign the violence is spreading.

In Chemnitz, regional officials were booked and jeered as they tried to reassure locals at a restive town hall meeting.

Michael Kretschmer, the regional prime minister of Saxony state, struggled to make himself heard above catcalls as he called on people to remain calm and respect the law.

“I had tears in my eyes when I heard today that a Chinese woman who has lived here for 13 years had water thrown over her, and felt it was a message for her to leave,” he said.

Outside the protestors chanted “We are the people” and held aloft banners saying Chemnitz must not become an “African colony”.

Violent protests over the killing of Daniel Hillig, a German-Cuban man, in Chemnitz at the weekend have shaken Germany.

An Iraqi and a Syrian have been arrested on suspicion of the stabbing on Sunday night.

A prison officer admitted yesterday he was responsible for leaking an arrest warrant for one of the men to far-Right groups who shared it on social media.

Authorities said the officer had been suspended pending a full inquiry.

Late Emir's son, Alhaji Ibrahim Mera joins Kebbi guber race.

A retired Deputy Comptroller General of customs ,Alhaji Ibrahim Mera, who is the  son to the late emir of Argungu, has declared intention to run for governor under the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 general election.

Mera, who is brother to the current Emir of Argungu, Dr Samaila Mera, declared his intention on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi at the state APC secretariat.

Mera will likely battle for the party’s endorsement with the governor of the state, Atiku Bagudu, who is serving his first term in office.

“My desire to contest the seat was born out of the love I have for my state and its people.

“After I served my country excellently and diligently in the Nigerian Custom Service, I deem it patriotic to come home and contribute my quota to the development of Kebbi state and its people,” he said.

However, Alhaji Ali Bature, the state Financial Secretary of APC, who spoke on behalf of the state Chairman, Alhaji Bala Kangiwa, told the aspirant that the party had since endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Bagudu.

“We have never seen you in any of our party’s programmes for three years now, but as a member of our party, you have the right to contest for any position you want in our party,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mera, son to the 32nd Emir of Argungu, late Muhammadu Mera, holds the traditional title of Ciroman Kabi.

Apple to unveil new iPhones in September

Apple on Thursday sent out invitations to a September 12 event at which it is expected to unveil new additions to its money-making iPhone line-up.

In typical enigmatic style, Apple offered scant clues to what it has in store for the presentation to take place in the Steve Jobs Theater at its spaceship campus in the Silicon Valley city of Cupertino.

Invitations had the words “Gather round” under a large golden circle.

Apple has historically held September events to show off new iPhone models, and this year the company is expected to stay true to that course.

Speculation includes talk that Apple introduce three new iPhone models, infusing some with features from a premium iPhone X that debuted last year with a $1,000 price tag.

Apple’s event comes a month after smartphone leader Samsung unveiled its latest flagship handset, the Galaxy Note 9.

Although the California tech giant is the world’s most valuable company with a market capitalization that recently topped $1 trillion, it has slipped to third place in the global smartphone market behind Chinese-based Huawei, according to surveys.
