It Is Now A Criminal Offence To Impregnate A Woman And Abandon Her In Lagos State.

The Lagos State Government announced yesterday a review of the law enacted to protect pregnant women and their babies. The State Attorney General, Ade Ipaye said that it is now a criminal offence in Lagos for a man to desert a woman he impregnated. At the sensitization programme on the ‘Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011′ and ‘Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2011′, Mr. Ipaye said the law was enacted to protect pregnant women and their babies.

He added that the new law makes it criminal for a man to refuse to contribute to the ante-natal and post-natal expenses of a woman he impregnated. “Any person who impregnates a woman or girl and fails, refuses or neglects to contribute to maternity related cost from ante-natal or post-natal stages, is guilty of an offence under section 277 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and is liable to face the wrath of the law,” Ipaye said.

Pastor Runs Mad Attempting To Deliver A Mad Man.

People living at Oke-Ado area of Ibadan, Oyo State, as well as shop owners and automobile dealers along Molete road in the town, on Thursday, watched a drama involving a pastor and a mad man.
The pastor, who was simply identified as Timothy, according to an eyewitness, got to Ososami junctions of Oke-Ado around 5.20 p.m and went to meet the mentally-deranged man, popularly known as Tunde, who was sitting in front of a building in the area.
Semiu, a shop owner around the spot of the incident who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune said the pastor began to read the Bible on sighting the mad man, while he moved closer to him and laid hands on his head.
“At a point, there was a hot argument between the duo, which made the pastor to raise his voice as he was offering a deliverance prayer for Tunde – the mad man. The hot prayer lasted for over 15 minutes before another strange drama began,” Semiu said.
Another witness, a commercial motorcyclist (popularly called Okada rider in Nigeria) said at a point, the mad man removed the pastor’s hand from his head, and “suddenly, a strange spirit got hold of the pastor and he began to remove his cloth. He was naked and laid flat on the ground, speaking a strange language, with foam oozing out of his mouth.”
The mad man, it was gathered, initially left him in this position and sat at some distance away from the pastor, before the duo later sat closer to each other, while onlookers watched the strange drama.

DJ Tee Stabs Soji Boi, Beats Up His Siblings.

 Video director Adetokunbo Odubawo popularly known as DJ Tee has been accused of stabbing an upcoming singer, Osungade Tolani Alvin in the face and assaulting his two siblings.
An eyewitness who spoke with an online blog, NET,  said the 19 year old singer had gone for a video shoot at DJ Tee’s studio with his two siblings Dolapo and Mobolaji.
However, trouble started when DJ Tee asked those who were to appear in the video shoot (including Tolani and Dolapo) to move on set while the others move out of shooting range. Dolapo’s girlfriend who wasn’t supposed to appear in the shoot stayed back on set.
The eye witness said, a visibly angry DJ Tee  ‘rudely told her to get out’.
‘He started screaming for her to get out, calling her bitch and stuff’,
Dolapo, obviously upset, talked back at the director, trying to caution him but DJ Tee allegedly slapped him and asked his boys who were also at the shoot to beat him up.
‘DJ Tee’s boys  immediately pounced on Dolapo and started beating him up,’ the anonymous eye witness was reported to have said.
 ‘As Mobolaji screamed and watched helplessly as her elder brother was being beaten up, DJ Tee asked his boys to beat her up too. Tolani tried to intervene in the whole matter, DJ Tee approached Dolapo to stab him with a bottle he just broke. Tolani intervened and DJ Tee stabbed him with a bottle he just broke.
The video director has come out on twitter to explain that he is innocent of the crime he is been accused of.

Farouk Lawan Testifies Behind Closed Doors.

Embattled Farouk Lawan, former chairman, ad hoc committee on fuel subsidy management, who allegedly collected $620,000 bribe from Femi Otedola, chairman, Zenon Oil, on Thursday, appeared before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges over his involvement in the bribery scandal.
Lawan, who entered the investigation room about 1:06p.m, dressed in white ‘agbada’ with cap to match, remarked, “Mr. Chairman it is a full house” on sighting over 50 newsmen waiting earnestly for his arrival. Lawan, who allegedly demanded and collected $620,000 from Otedola was granted bail by the police and directed to produce the marked dollar bills.

Cameroon striker, Eto’o Faces Spanish Tax Evasion Charges

A Spanish public prosecutor has accused Cameroon striker, Samuel Eto’o, of conspiring to evade 3.5 million euros in taxes owed on income from his image rights when he was playing for Barcelona
 between 2006-2009.
The former Barca and Inter Milan player, now with Russian Premier League club Anzhi Makhachkala, is accused of four tax offences, each punishable with up to five years in prison and a fine of as much as 21 million euros.
The case presented by the prosecutor on June 15 at a Barcelona court, and which was seen by Reuters on Thursday, asks a judge to open proceedings against the player before the statute of limitations on one of the alleged offences expires on Saturday.
Spain recently launched a drive against tax evasion as it struggles to meet tough European deficit reduction targets that have meant budget cuts for hospitals and schools.
Eto’o allegedly created two companies, one in Hungary and another in Spain, and used them to channel income obtained from ceding his image rights to Barca and sportswear maker Puma, the prosecutor said.
The Hungarian company paid one of the lowest corporate tax rates in
 Europe – 10 per cent to 19 per cent – while the Spanish company paid a reduced corporate tax rate of 30 per cent to 35 per cent, instead of the 45 per cent income tax rate, the charge said.
Eto’o also allegedly used the Spanish company to deduct personal expenses, such as payments for his mortgages, furniture and expenses related to his luxury cars, the complaint added.
Eto’o and his club could not immediately be reached for comment.

The State Intelligence Bureau, SIB, of the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Police Command, has summoned the Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, for a chat with the state Commissioner of Police, Umaru Manko.

The invitation signed by the officer in charge of the bureau, CSP Usman Ayuba, was dated Tuesday, 26 June, 2012, and the pastor was expected to report on Thursday, 28  June.
Although SIB did not disclose why Bakare was summoned, the invitation may not be unconnected with a recent sermon Pastor Bakare preached concerning President Goodluck Jonathan, the oil moguls and the scandal surrounding the alleged N93 million bribe Zenon Oil boss, Femi Otedola gave Farouk Lawan.
During the sermon which was preached on Sunday, 17 June, Bakare said: “President Jonathan is dancing to the drumbeat of destiny. His destiny is to bankrupt Nigeria. He has the full support of corporate cowboys and oil vultures. It is clear that Nigeria is a nation under divine judgement. We need a cleansing in this land and if we do not stand up now to do what we ought to do, there may not be 2015 for Nigerians.”
Bakare, who is also the Convener of Save Nigeria Group, held a press conference same day where he repeated what he said during the sermon and added that Otedola and Lawan, the suspended Chairman, House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy, management, are both culpable in the bribery scandal rocking the House.
P.M.NEWS could not reach Pastor Bakare at press time to react to the invitation as he was said to have travelled to Ukraine.
However,  speaking on behalf of the pastor this morning, Yinka Odumakin confirmed the  SIB invitation, adding that President Jonathan was acting in concert with oil barons to silence the voices of those who are seeking genuine change in the country.
He said Bakare would honour the invitation as soon as he returns from Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Otedola has slammed a N25 billion compensation and an apology demand on Bakare concerning the scathing attack on him.
A letter to that effect was written by Otedola’s counsel, Victor Ogude of Babajide Koku & Co. Chambers.
Otedola’s counsel complained that Bakare portrayed his client as an oil thief and liar and that the report published in newspapers on Monday, 18 June should be retracted in its entirety. In the widely publicised sermon and the outcome of the press conference he held, Bakare insisted that both Otedola and Lawan should be investigated because one of them is a bribe giver and the other a bribe taker.

The rumour about a crack in the Miss Nigeria camp published last week may have finally come true as the board has made a slight shake-up.
It was reported last week that former beauty queen, Mrs Nike Oshinowo Soleye has been dropped by the pageant organisers.
The latest report reaching Nigeriafilms.com has it that Nike Oshinowo has finally been dropped and replaced with Mrs Elohor Elizabeth Aisien.
Daily Times Nigeria and African Times Network (ATN), the franchise owners of the pageant announced that Mrs Nike Oshinowo has been removed as Miss Nigeria Creative Director and replaced with Mrs Elohor Elizabeth Aisien.
It also announced that the 38th Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant would hold in December 2012.
According to the announcement, ATN has assembled a brand new board of directors and a new Creative Director and team led by Beth Model Management Africa, the organisers of Elite Model Look Nigeria to handle the beauty pageant for them.
With the new board, the organisers hope to deliver a fresh and innovative direction to the pageant this year.

Goldie Confirms Break up With Prezzo.

If we are to go by her utterances in her diary session, then Goldie has finally forgotten all about Prezzo and their ‘love.’

“I have forgiven him but I have also forgotten him,” she said. The Nigerian ‘Don’t Touch Ma Body’ singer revealed to Big Brother that she had gotten over Prezzo as well as forgetting about him.
It was hard for anybody to think that the visibly in love singer would ever forget about Prezzo, well, she just confirmed it during her diary session. It seems that when a woman loves it’s for real but when she says it’s over then it means not going back on her word.
Goldie also pointed out that Prezzo was a kind of a person who always counted all things he had done for her. She said that there was no point in reminding
 some one about how many things you had done for them, she did not see any point in doing so, therefore, this could have been one of the reasons why she called it quits.
“If the day that you are not too happy you are going to count how many times you have bought me perfume, then why do you bother doing it?” she inquired.
She also filled in Biggie on Prezzo’s tendency to call people names including herself.
Prezzo earlier had a one on one with Keitta and made it clear that there was nothing going on between him and the Golden one any more. Keitta also shared them same sentiments in his diary session when Biggie asked him about the Prezz-Goldie relationship.
Well, the once famous Goldezzo couple has hit a hump on the love highway and from the look of things, the two are determined not to patch things up.

R. Kelly Cancels Event Over Health Emergency.

R. Kelly  yesterday suffered from a mysterious "health emergency," which lead the singer to cancel an event in New York this evening.
As reported by TMZ:

We spoke with Kelly's rep ... who tells us the singer has officially postponed tonight's R. Kelly Book Launch event in NYC "due to a health emergency that has sidelined Mr. Kelly in Chicago."

The rep would not disclose the nature of the illness ... but adds, "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused."
We're hoping R.Kelly gets well soon and returns to the stage.

South African Evicted From The Big Brother House.

Barbz becomes the third housemate to leave upville this week. Roki and Maneta started the exit early this week as they got disqualified and were asked to leave the house on Tuesday for contravening Biggie’s rule when they fought after a disagreement over alcohol.
However Barbz was officially evicted to night but before the disqualification of Roki and Maneta, upville had held their nomination on Monday where Barbz, Maneta and Prezzo had more votes and were listed for this week’s eviction.
As usual the head of house was given the opportunity to save one housemate from being evicted and in the process replace the person she saves with another housemate. Goldie who happened to be the head of house this week saved Prezzo and in place she put up Keitta.
Keitta and Barbz were therefore nominated for eviction this week since Maneta’s had already earned herself a disqualification ticket and was no more.
The two Barbz and Keitta were put on a weighing scale and Barbz got evicted while Keitta survives for the second time in less than three weeks.
However Keitta has been sick with eviction fever most of the day but luck seems to be on his side to survive eviction yet again.
On the other hand its game over for the south African Model Barbz.

Chris Okotie Ends 4 Years Marriage With Stephanie Henshaw.

We woke up with the ruddest shock of our life on hearing the news of the divorce between Chris Okotie and his wife Stephanie.

Rev Chris Okotie's second marriage has sadly ended after only four years. The Head Pastor of Household of God announced in his church a few hours ago that he has separated from Stephanie Henshaw whom he married in August 2008. He told his congregation that he wanted to be the one to break the sad news to them and hoped for their understanding.

“Stephanie and I are no longer married. We have separated. You can see she’s not in church today. It’s due to irreconcilable differences and you should please respect our wishes at this time because there is no going back.”

Big Brother StarGame former housemate, Rockford Josphat, who has returned home after being disqualified together with Maneta Mazanhi, who is still in South Africa, has apologised to the nation after the two Zimbabwean representatives engaged in a violent act during the show.

The 27 year old urban grooves musician, Josphat, also known as Roki, who had an unfortunate encounter with fellow Zimbabwean Maneta Mazanhi, said he feels sorry for his fans who where rallying behind him as his fight with Maneta was not called for.
Roki said he does not view his disqualification as an evil plot by Maneta but attributed the conflict to pressure in the house.
On hard feelings over the incident, the “Chidzoka” famed musician said Maneta still remains his sister by virtue of nationality, adding Big Brother StarGame is simply a show.
Speaking to the media, Zimbabwe Youth Council representative, Mr. Acie Lumumba said though they have been saddened by the unfortunate encounter in the house, they welcome back both Roki and Maneta.
Maneta and Roki were disqualified after they engaged in a violent confrontation.
