Asari Dokubo Becomes Private University Owner:Establishes ''King Amachree African University'' In Benin Republic.

Asari

Asari-Dokubo already has soccer institutions in Benin and Nigeria train youth free of charge.

The leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Muhajid Asari-Dokubo has joined the swelling rank of private university proprietors with his establishment of a university in the neighbouring Republic of Benin.

Mr. Asari-Dokubo, who already owns a soccer academy in the West African country and another one in Abuja, said the university, which will be known as King Amachree African University, KAAU, had already been accredited to commence degree programmes beginning September 2014.

He told PREMIUM TIMES in an interview in Abuja that the proposed university, named after his ancestor, was a product of his two existing institutions in Benin Republic, namely King Amachree Automobile/ICT Royal Academy and King Amachree Arts Academy. Both of them, he added, currently award Diploma to their students.

Mr. Asari-Dokubo said he chose to establish the institutions in Benin Republic because he does not only live there, but has adopted it as his country.

“What we have now, we are awarding only diploma now. “By next September, Insha Allah, the university will start,” Mr. Asari-Dokubo, who dropped out of University of Calabar, he said.

“For now we have King Amachree Automobile/ICT Royal Academy and King Amachree Arts Academy. Two of them were merged. We have merged the two of them into king Amachree African University.

“King Amachree is my great ancestor. He was king of the Kingdom of new Calabar.”

On his soccer academy, the 50 year old Mr. Asari-Dokubo, an indigene of Rivers State, who refused to be tagged a former militant, said it was established to train the youth in soccer free of charge.

“We plan to engage the youths. It is free. We have a soccer academy in Abuja and we have another one in Republic of Benin,” he said.

More Nigerians are forced to go to Benin Republic, Ghana, Togo and other neigbhouring countries to acquire education due to the incessant labour disputes and industrial actions within the Nigerian university system as well as the deplorable state of education in the country.

Currently, students of both the federal and state universities in Nigeria are at home due to the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, over the refusal of the Federal Government to honour its 2009 agreement with the union.

Other unions within the education sector, including the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, have also embarked on solidarity strike while the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, and Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, are reportedly on the verge of doing towing that path.
Students of the over 50 private universities in Nigeria, whose fees can only be afforded the rich, are however, in session.
Mr. Asari-Dokubo is, like former Niger Delta militants enjoying massive patronage from the current administration, believe to be very wealthy but his source of income is largely unknown.
There were speculation he made his fortune stealing crude oil in the Niger Delta. But he denied engaging in such practices, telling PREMIUM TIMES he had never been part of any act capable of endangering the Delta.

30 Year Old Man In Critical Condition After Cutting Off His Genitals And Giving It To The Dogs.

A 30-year-old man, Ejike is lying in critical condition in a private hospital in Nkpor near Onitsha after cutting off his manhood with a knife. According to sources, Ejike, from Nkwelle Uke community in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, was a luxurious bus conductor based in Onitsha until he returned to the village recently.
He allegedly visited the village shrine and invoked the spirit of the diety before taking away kolanuts offered to the gods and from that moment, began to manifest strange signs.
It was gathered that last weekend, Ejike took a knife, cut off his penis and scrotum, and a strange dog suddenly appeared and ran away with the severed genitals. Family members were said to have rushed him to the hospital immediately.
When Daily Sun visited the hospital yesterday, Ejike's private parts were completely bandaged while a catheter was fixed from the region where he passes urine.
Though he refused to talk to the reporter, he was furious when her sister arrived with his aged father. He blurted out, saying he took the action in protest so that the family would know that he was not joking when he said he would cut his penis. Scores of visitors in the hospital also said he had threatened to cut off his manhood in the past because his penis had disappointed him several times.
But the elder sister who was attending to him in the hospital told Daily Sun that he acted under the influence of evil forces. She said that no man in his right senses would slice his manhood, adding that the family wass shattered by his action.
The Chief Medical Director, Crown Hospital Nkpor, Dr. Eddy Emegoaku confirmed that Ejike's case was critical but declined further comments on his medical condition.

When Benue FirstLady Arc Yemisi Suswam Led A Delegation Of Northern Governor's Wives Forum To Broker Peace In Taraba State.

Are the Suswams back to NGF ? lol

When Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs Dame Patience, stepped up the campaign for greater recognition for women in politics, perhaps, her action was informed by their dexterity in conflict management. Women are believed to be endowed with the ability to calm frayed nerves even in situations that appear tough. In other words, the role on Nigerian women in acting as catalysts in stabilising the thorny nature of the nation’s political system cannot be ignored.

The political row in Taraba State provided an opportunity for them to showcase such endowment. The wives of Northern governors under the umbrella of Northern Governors Wives Forum’ led by Benue State First Lady who doubles as chairperson of the forum, Mrs Doshima Yemisi Suswam, went on a trouble-shooting mission to the state. After their visit, relative peace and harmony appears to have returned to the state.

It will be recalled that Taraba had in the last few months been enmeshed in a leadership row occasioned by the return of the recuperating governor, Mr Danbaba Suntai, from a medical treatment abroad. The governor had arrived the state after 10 months of medical attention, following the injury he sustained after a plane crash almost a year ago. His arrival generated ripples in some political camps, especially between him and his deputy, Alhaji Garba Umar, who became the Acting governor of the state.

While supporters of Suntai insisted that their principal had taken over the administration of the state following his return from medical treatment abroad, the camp of Garba maintained that the governor had not fully recovered to be subjected to the rigours of governance.

The crisis culminated in the alleged sacking of some loyalists of the acting governor holding political appointments, an action that attracted counter-statements from the government nullifying the alleged sack. While the logjam lasted, a case was also instituted against the acting governor in a law court.

A former Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, in a telephone interview with Nigerian Tribune, had described logjam in Taraba as a sad reminder that Nigerian politicians had always found it hard to resolve their differences without heating up the polity.

The angry reaction of most Nigerians to the impasse prompted the intervention of the national leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which set up a committee to mediate in the dispute. But the committee achieved little because soon after the members visited the state, and claimed to have resolved the issue, the warring factions returned to the trenches.

Interestingly the situation in Taraba, which seemed to have defied all previous peace moves has mellowed down after the intervention of the Northern Governors Wives Forum. The forum sent some of its members to broker peace between the two camps involved in the dispute.

The delegation, which was led by the chairperson of the forum, Mrs. Yemisi  Dooshima Suswam of Benue, also included the Vice chairperson and wife of the Gombe State Governor, Hajia Adama Dankwambo, and the Financial Secretary and wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajia Jummai Babangida Aliyu. The women met with virtually all the principal actors in the logjam, including Governor Suntai and his wife, Mrs. Hauwa, as well as the wife of the acting governor, Hajia Umar. However, her husband was reportedly on an official assignment when the women came, but was said to have been in a constant touch with the emissaries.

At the peace meetings, which lasted several hours, it was learnt that Mrs. Suswam urged all the parties to the crisis to sheath their swords and work together in the interest of the people of the state. She was quoted as saying, “As women, we have been reading disturbing reports in the newspapers about the crisis in Taraba State. That is why we have come on behalf of the Northern Governors Wives Forum to show solidarity with our sisters, the wives of the Governor and that of the acting Governor and also encourage Taraba people to embrace peace. We are pleading with the feuding parties and loyalists of the two factions to come together and form a formidable force to move Taraba forward so that the negative reports we read in the papers about this peace loving state would come to an end.”

The women also pleaded with the leaders of the state to shun those they described as agents of destruction and disaffection, “creating estrangement between the governor and the acting governor so that love, peace, compassion for one another in the state will usher in the much desired peace and the people of Taraba will feel the impact of good governance and also rejoice.”

After series of meetings, the delegation departed the state with assurances from all the concerned parties that their motherly intervention in the crisis would not be in vain. Shortly after the departure of the women, a suit filed by some loyalists of Suntai against the acting governor was withdrawn. This was followed by a public declaration by the acting governor of his total loyalty to his ill boss, who on his part promised to work with Umar in an advisory capacity to ensure that the state occupied its pride of place in the scheme of things in the country.

Reacting to the mediation of NGWF, the Benue State chairman of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Mr Baba Agan, an engineer, lauded what he described as the “bold move of the women,” adding that their intervention had led to the resolution of the Taraba imbroglio. In his opinion, the development has again brought to the fore the critical role Nigerian women have always played in critical issues concerning the well-being of our nation, especially in areas where the men folk had failed. “Perhaps if women had been given the opportunity to intervene in the Boko Haram menace we are today confronted with, we would have found a lasting solution to the crisis,”Agan stated.

Well done Mrs Suswam and others.

Senator Barnabas Gemade Jeered By Politicians At A Function In Benue.

Senator representing Benue North East senatorial zone, Chief Barnabas Gemade, was recently mocked by some politicians at a function in Adikpo Benue state,This happened when Gemade was jeered by politicians while making a speech at the function,he however dismissed the incident  saying it was “sponsored by some politicians to score a cheap point.”
The Senator was said to have been interrupted with jeers while speaking at the burial of elder statesman, Dr. Liambe Shande, in Kwande local government of the state.
In a press statement signed by his media aide, Benji Ugba Uyeh and issued in Abuja yesterday, Senator Gemade wondered how “a group of sponsored politicians would choose to defy the solemn atmosphere of a funeral ceremony to score a cheap political point to please their sponsor.”
He said there was need to set the records straight to avoid a situation where unsuspecting citizens and party men are taken in by what he termed “sponsored activities.”
He said most of “the so called elders referred to are spent forces who were unable to deliver even their polling units to the party during the last elections and have no hope of doing so in future” and that some are not even members of the PDP.
“For the records, authentic PDP elders of the zone have not at any point in time endorsed anybody for the senatorial elections of 2015, and those claiming to have done so are not recognized by the party and are merely pandering to the wishes of their sponsor,” he added.
He said, if and when there is the need to do so, the right thing would be done according to the rules and regulations enshrined in the PDP constitution.

Tuface ,Alex Okosi,Alibaba,Linda Ikeji,Uche Pedro(BellaNaija),Mo Abudu And Others Listed As ''MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN ENTERTAINMENT '' By TheNet.ng .

Most influential people in entertainment

The Netng today released  their 2013 list of the Most Influential People in Entertainment in Nigeria See the full list here..

They are artistes, actors, thinkers, entrepreneurs, and captains of industry. Their ideas spark dialogue and dissent and sometimes even controversies; their works shape lives, habits and societies; their actions have led to some of the decisions that have stirred the industry in its current direction. These remarkable men and women, with lasting and laudable influence, do not necessarily make the most popular people in the industry, but their actions carry a lot of weight; with the hope of the future resting on their shoulders.

2face Idibia: From his artistry to passion for change, the Pop king of Africa has continued to use his music as a muse to influence all. Through his foundation, ‘2face Idibia Reach-Out Foundation’, Idibia, an icon by every definition, has dedicated a great amount of time, effort and resources towards reaching out to fellow humans in need.

Alex Okosi: As Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Viacom International, Africa, Okosi continues to showcase Africa to the world and vice versa with the MTV, BET, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central platforms. Okosi is one of the top dogs determining the present and future of entertainment on TV.

Ali Baba: Still at the top of the food chain when it concerns comedy in Nigeria, Ali Baba, a pioneer stand-up comedian is not only responsible for making the trade profitable, he continues to use his influence to hold up the platform for others to shine.

Amaka Igwe: A strong pillar in Nollywood, Igwe’s undying love for motion picture has helped her carve a niche for herself whether with her famous soap operas or her annual BOBTV TV expo. Her Lagos-based radio station, Top Radio has also become a force to reckon with.

Amin Moussalli: The Lebanese boss actually started doing business in Nigeria as far back as 1975 with his AIM architectural company but his love for broadcasting drove him to create radio stations Cool FM, Wazobia FM and later on Nigeria Info with his daughter Evita in the helm of affairs. These stations have become one of the biggest outfits in Nigeria reaching millions in four different cities.

Audu Maikori: It’s been rocky times at Chocolate City in the last seven months but Maikori, a lawyer and entrepreneur has shown nothing but exemplary skills in stirring the entertainment label through murky waters. With A-list acts like M.I. and Ice Prince, Chocolate City still remains one of the biggest music labels in Africa. Don’t be surprised if they announce an IPO soon.

Ayo Animashaun: Through his Smooth Promotions company, Animashaun, 43, has launched some of the most relevant entertainment platforms including ‘The Headies’ and the 24-hour channel ‘Hip TV’ which launches on DSTV this month.

Bolanle Austen Peters: Peters is the soul of Terra Kulture - a highly recognised cultural hub set up to promote the richness and diversity of Nigerian languages, arts and culture. Respected for enabling the sustenance of live theatre in Lagos, she’s now executing the big-budget SARO musical that’s already receiving critical acclaim. In eight years of existence, Terra Kulture has organised no less than 60 plays, over 100 exhibitions, and approximately 10,000 children have been through their language, culture clubs and excursions.

Biola Alabi : Managing Director at M-NET Africa over the last four years, Alabi has engineered the process of bringing top African content to our doorsteps. This year, she birthed the successful and well rated African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCAs).

Chika Nwobi: Nwobi is a serial entrepreneur. From MTech- a leading mobile content company in Africa to Jobberman.com-West Africa’s most popular jobs portal to Cheki.com.ng-Nigeria’s leading cars/autos website to Kamdora.com a fast growing e-commerce fashion retail business in Nigeria, Nwobi has successfully built mobile and internet-related companies; using unusual techniques to link IT with entertainment while delivering value for consumers and helping Telcos excite a generation in love with music.

Chris Ubosi: He is the CEO of Megalectrics Limited, owners of Premium choice BEAT 99.9FM, retro-styled Classic FM 93.7 and pidgin-speaking Naija FM 102.7, which have all continued to dominate their respective fields. Ubosi, who seems to be warming up to the cameras nowadays has also launched a sister station in Ibadan and will be setting up a TV channel real soon.

Clarence Peters: Three of out every five videos seen on Nigerian TV is directed by Clarence Peters. As the CEO of a record label called Capital Hill Records and a multimedia content creation company calledCAPital Dream Pictures, he has shot a good number of videos, documentaries, TV commercials, short films and TV features. Clarence is no doubt the most sought after video director in the music industry so much that his name has become synonymous with top quality musical videos.

D’banj: In the last 12 months, the self-styled entertainer has brushed off any kind of doubt about whether he can progress career-wise after his split with former Mo’Hits partner Don Jazzy. Whether it’s performing at the finale of African Cup of Nations, collaborating with US artistes, headlining Hennessy Artistry orbecoming the face of the Bank of Industry, D’banj has shown constant sheer determination and dominance. And there’s an indefinitely long list of young cats praying day and night to have a quarter of his blessings.

D’banj, Femi Kuti, Biola Alabi and Tunde Kelani

DJ Jimmy JATT: He is rated as one of the biggest and most iconic deejays in Africa. An innovator, teacher, speaker and performer, Jimmy Jatt has helped nurture the careers and influenced many deejays in Nigeria. There’s hardly any hiphop artiste in Nigeria that doesn’t pledge allegiance to the legendary but unbelievably humble deejay.

Don Jazzy: From music production, Don Jazzy remains one of the most relevant entertainment personalities in Africa (a formula his colleagues have not been able to crack yet) with every artiste out there asking for a beat or two from him. Little wonder he keeps bagging multimillion Naira endorsement deals. An ambassador for Loya Milk and MTN, IDJA is the producer every producer wants to be like, the pop star who has no single to his name; the enigmatic music maker that’s giving an entirely new definition to impresario.

Edi Lawani: Sometimes referred to as the Godfather, Lawani has built a name in the corporate and entertainment scene working as technical consultant, events manager and adviser to organisations and talent. His agency, Showbiz Network is one of the longest running homegrown entertainment organisations, and many of today’s big names in technical support and events management have the bearded gentleman to thank.

Efe Omorogbe: The co-founder and HNIC of Nigeria’s leading talent management company, Now Muzik,Omorogbe continues to be a major force in the development of entertainment in Nigeria. He recently setup Now Muzik en.Core, a sister company which handles events and campaigns.

Emeka Mba: A former Regulatory Affairs Manager at Multichoice Nigeria and later Director General of the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Mba’s recent appointment as Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) was met with applause from stakeholders who understand what he brings to the table. The NBC is the regulatory body for broadcast organisations in Nigeria.

Femi Ayeni: Ayeni, founder of Ultima, the company which owns two very big franchises in Nigeria might not have a popular name but his shows Project Fame West Africa and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Though quiet and publicity shy, Ayeni has handed many successful entertainers their careers – that list will include Iyanya, Chidinma and Frank Edoho who rose to national fame on WWTBAM.

Femi Kuti: The son of the late great Afrobeat legend has clearly carved a niche for himself, warming up nicely into contemporary music (working with Wizkid, LNC, Jesse Jagz, Durella) and modern TV (Kuti is a judge on Nigerian Idol). These have however not shut him up from voicing out his opinion against bad governance.

Funke Akindele: The Nollywood actress has bagged the highest number of endorsement deals and produced more bestselling movies than anyone in her category. Her hilarious character, Jenifa has now become one of the most popular characters in Nollywood. And despite going through a well-publicized separation, Akindele’s image remains intact, her following unaffected; her endorsements intact.

Genevieve Nnaji: Hardly can you mention top actresses in Africa without placing her in the top 2. US talk show host, Oprah Winfrey described her as the Julia Roberts of Africa, while Elle magazine recently profiled her as one of the 7 international acts soon to cross over to international success. Nnaji’s profiling on the international scene has been a big boost to her career, although she has slowed down on local appearances in recent times.

Ibinabo Fiberesima: She became the first woman to lead the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria when she was sworn in as President in November 2012. Ibinabo Fiberesima, an actress and a former beauty queen now presides over one of the most influential organisations in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Jason Njoku: By creating the iROKO triad- iROKOtv, iROKING and IROKtv , he is credited for creating what the international media has described as the ‘Netflix of Africa,‘ Njoku has combined technology and creativity to satisfy the ever-growing needs of Nollywood fans across the world, ranking in the Forbes ‘African millionaires to watch’ list. His idea now caters for millions of Nigerians who chose to go online to source music and Nollywood movies.

Clarence Peters, Amaka Igwe, Audu Maikori and Ali Baba

King Sunny Ade: A perfect example of consistency, King Sunny Ade boasts of a career that has spanned over five decades. KSA is an important voice in the Nigerian entertainment industry particularly in regards to music as he uses his influence, contacts and resources to affect major decisions in many of the music organisations; while serving as mentor and inspiration to many.

Kunle Afolayan: He is one of the most prolific film directors in Nigeria. From his debut production ‘Irapada‘ to the critically reviewed action-drama Figurine‘, the accounting graduate has shown finesse in all his work. His recent project, October 1, still in the making has generated the most publicity-ever for a yet to be released flick. Afolayan is seen by many pundits as the face of ‘new Nollywood’.

KWAM 1: A prolific recording artist, KWAM1 updated the Fuji style incorporating Western instruments to give it that youth-oriented theme. Nike Oshinowo speaks on the birth of her surrogate twins.

Nike

It is no longer news that former Miss Nigeria, Chief Adenike Oshinowo, is a proud mother of a set of twins.
Due to her long-term association with endometriosis, 47 year old Nike delivered the set of twins with the help of a surrogate gestational carrier in United States of America.
Medical experts identify endometriosis as a significant factor in unexplained female infertility, chronic pelvic pain, and other gynaecological problems.
Expressing happiness and gratitude to the Almighty for making her a mother despite all odds, Nike said
“I am overwhelmed and humbled by the depth of my love for my children. God has been most gracious to me. I am beyond happy.”
Addressing her battle with Endometriosis, Nike said “I have lived with endometriosis since the age of 13. I was sent to boarding school in England when I was seven. I went to prep school. It was during the first few days in secondary school that I began my periods (menstrual). They called the ambulance and I was hospitalized for 10 days because the pain started and wouldn’t stop.
I thought I was going to die. Living with endometriosis is a challenge. When you see your doctor, your doctor just tries to treat the symptoms and assumes the pain revolves around your menstrual cycle. But this is not so. This pain affects every single aspect of your life.”

On sex, she said “Women with endometriosis do not want to have sex because it’s painful. It is very, very painful. So you do not want to have intercourse once and it is painful, you’ll not want to go there. It’s not something you are going to look forward to. I have read books on this. And even when you try to forget the fact that you do not want to, half the time you are bleeding. You are either bleeding, or you do not want.
So, on the average, my friends’ periods last about 5 days, mine, if I’m lucky, lasts 7-10 days and if I’m super, duper lucky, lasts less than seven days; if I have eaten what I should, and exercised constantly, it’s not so bad. Exercise works. If you look at a girl’s menstrual cycle, 26-27 days, remove the 10 days she’s been menstruating and remove the days she doesn’t want, when she has pre-menstrual tension.
When every part of you is sore, on those days, you are not going to want, and even on the remaining five or so days that you are ‘OK, you are not going to want to have intercourse because it is going to be painful. You just don’t want to. So you cannot have a proper relationship with a man.”
