"Back to the Future” is a hilarious stage play that treats the ills experienced by the common man in our society. It is written by Wapi Barau, directed by Shima Gernah and produced by Samson Oklobia.

It is a first of subsequent theatre shows to be staged in makurdi, as an effort to create an alternative form of entertainment as theatre is refreshing and same time rejuvenating. It gives one the first hand feel of whats been said and it sticks in ones memory. It sure is an experience to witness.“Back to the Future” will be staged at Kimbis International Hotel, Makurdi, on the 31st of August, 2014.

Two shows, 3pm and 6pm to allow flexibly and availability. Tickets are available on demand at event venue.

Someone drew my attention to a post on Facebook that Senator Barnabas Gemade has concluded plans to decamp to Labour Party in order to secure a ticket to run for the senate again.Though have being making calls .nobody seems to have an idea or confirm this story to us.
It is even allerged that former Attorney General Mike Aondoakaa is also decamping to LP to pick Governorship Ticket.

You know Gov Suswam controls the party structure in the state and he will ensure that all delegates vote who he wants,besides he is also eyeing the senate Senator Gemade is occupying.
There is tension in Benue,over 30 governorship aspirants for PDP so MKA has to apply plan B which joining another party to pick the ticket.
Well we are not concluding on this story but just analysing recent things.

Ghana Fashion And Design Week Postponed Due To Ebola Outbreak In West Africa.

The organisers of Ghana Fashion and design week regret to inform everyone  that GFDW 2014 event scheduled for the 24 – 26 October has now been postponed to the year 2015 due to Ghana Government directive issued, and a ban on all international gathering and conferences for the next three months to avoid recent health risk affecting the West Africa region.The organisers hope that these ongoing challenges in the region will soon subside, and bring this part of the continent to its normal state once again.GFDW will be back in 2015.

Heartbreaking Images Of The Havoc Ebola Is Causing In Liberia AndSeirra Leone.

The  Ebola outbreak in West Africa has claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people. Every day, at least one person dies.

In Monvoria, Liberia, where the outbreak is extremely severe, a photographer John Moore risked getting the virus by heading down there to take images of the sad state of the nation.The United Nations has also revealed that it will send food to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea as the outbreak has collapsed the economies. Hopes of immediate relief for victims of the Ebola Virus Disease following reports that doses of an experimental drug, nano-silver, had been delivered were dimmed yesterday. The United States Food and Drug Administration said the drug is a pesticide and warned those claiming that it could prevent or treat Ebola to desist from doing so.

Traces Of Ebola Virus Reported In Nassarawa State.

TRACES of Ebola outbreak has been reported in some parts of Nasarawa state even as the state government has said it is on top of the situation.  Nasarawa State Commissioner for Health, Emmanuel Akabe, said he was aware of an outbreak of a disease in Taka Lafia, a community in Karshi, which borders the federal capital territory, Abuja but declined to confirm if it was an outbreak of the deadly virus, assuring that government was on top of the situation.  Sources told The Guardian that five people were taken to an undisclosed hospital in the area after which series of tests carried out on them indicated symptoms of Ebola.  A hospital source said, the victims were quickly confined into the male ward of the hospital while the result of the test was sent to Abuja for further test to ascertain if the patients have been infected. 

But Akabe said the development is an outbreak of cholera, which has affected five people in the area adding that local council health workers in the state have been detailed on how to handle suspicious cases of Ebola. 

He said government has set up an isolation centre in federal medical centre FMC Keffi, where infected and suspicious cases would be handled, disclosing that other centres would soon be set up in Abuja’s suburb of Nyanyan and Mararaba in the state. 

The commissioner said the state government has not procured personnel protection equipment PPE yet, but is at the moment relying on left over equipments of a previous lasa fever epidemic which he said has the same protective capacity with the current ones being used for Ebola. 

Akabe told The Guardian that the state government was still awaiting the federal government support in terms of funds and tents.  The Guardian observed that the state capital Lafia, and other major towns in the state have no single emergency center in case of a reported case of Ebola.  It was also gathered that a previous lasa fever isolation centre at the Lafia specialist hospital was expected to serve the same purpose for Ebola, but due to congestion, government decided to relocate it to FMC Keffi.

Gov Fashola Commissions Refurbished Tejuosho Market.

Lagos state Governor, Raji Fashola today August 15th commissioned the newly refurbished Tejuosho market in Yaba Lagos, 7 years after the old market structure was completely gutted by fire.

The refurbished market, which used to have 1,484 lockup, has been increased to 2,640. Facilities in the new market complex includes banking spaces, 8 lifts to enable goods, services and people move up, two escalators for up and down movement of people, two ramps designed to assist physically handicapped people to get into and out of the building and a crèche where nursing mothers can attend to and keep their children while they are trading.

Founder of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Temitope Joshua, AKA, TB Joshua has announced that the Sierra Leonean government were sent 4000 bottles of his 'anointing water' to spiritually fortify the country in their fight against the deadly disease.Prophet Joshua also announced that a private jet hired at $50,000 conveyed the spiritual items to the country yesterday.He also added that an extra $50,000 was given to victims of the disease as donated by the prophet and his 'Emmanuel TV Partners'.

Boko Haram Abducts 100 Boys & YoungMen, Kills 10 In Maiduguri.

While we await the Islamist militant sect Boko Haram to#BringBackOurGirls and now, a report states they have taken young men.
Punch reports that during a Sunday attack in Doron Baga, Borno community, 100 boys and
young men were abducted while 10 were allegedly killed by Boko Haram.
According to the news publication, some of those that fled the area were sighted in Maiduguri on Thursday. They said they had to fled because of the constant attacks by the insurgents.
Halima Alhaji Adamu, one of the displaced persons said six members of Hadejia community in Doron Baga were killed and about 100 young men were abducted on Sunday when the sect launched an attack on their
community, displacing thousands who are now refugees in parts of Borno and Yobe states.
Halima also said that she lost her husband in the attack. She claims the insurgents are believed to have abducted the young men in
order to forcefully conscript them.
“The attack was on Sunday, in
my family they killed six people, I
don’t know about the other
families but the Hadaijawa
community which I belong also
had 100 of the abducted by the
insurgents.

I think it is better to go and live
with family members than opting
for camps. We lost everything we
have worked for, and I don’t
think the camp will be a better
place for us.
With family members, we can
have the courage to face life
again but the camp will continue
to make us reflect on our
predicament because there is no
care as such no focus for one to
engage himself or herself into
doing something meaningful.”

I Do not Owe Nigeria Any Apology Says Liberian Minister Who Cleared Patrick Sawyer To Travel.

Liberia’s deputy finance minister, Sebastian Omar, who cleared Patrick Sawyer to travel, yesterday, defended himself against charges of incompetence for clearing Sawyer to travel to Nigeria for a conference.

In the conversation on Facebook tracked by online publication, Premium Times, Omar stood his ground, and revealed that Sawyer was his friend.Asked whether Omar saw Sawyer’s blood test results or whether he simply told him it was negative, the minister said,
“As his superior, if a man tells you his sister died from Ebola and he could have been exposed do you not think it is your duty to ask the hard questions or maybe you could have reported this to the health officials? Stop making silly excuses as to not being his doctors.

This does not excuse you from asking the questions as a government official that would safeguard the lives of our citizens and your international partners. It is your duty, again as a Government official not wanting to go above and beyond his duty to safe guard our population.

The Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, on Thursday said its troops swooped on hideouts used by suspected kidnappers in Bayelsa coastal communities.

Bank Charges For ATM Withdrawals Re-Introduced By New CBN Gov.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has re-introduced bank charges on Automated Teller Machines.

Nigerian Doctor Developing A Drug Called ''NANO SILVER'' For The Treatment Of Ebola.

 



The Federal Government is to receive Nano Silver trial drug for the treatment of Ebola Virus Disease patients, it was learnt.
The drug is from a Nigerian scientist living in the diaspora.
Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said yesterday at a Press Briefing in Abuja said it has been used experimentally for many things.
The drug he said is getting to today.

The nurse, who had been at the B Ward – a male ward which is now referred to as Ebola Ward – of the Yaba Mainland General Hospital, died in the early hours of Thursday. First Bank Of Nigeria PLC Shut Down Over Debts

The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Service Employees, AUPCTRE, on Wednesday in Lagos temporarily shut down banking operations at First Bank of Nigeria Plc Headquarters.
The shutdown paralysed activities at the bank for more than four hours, as the aggrieved union officials refused customers entry into banking hall for any business transactions.

Fire Incident At Female Hostel Of B.S.U 2nd Campus.

 
 The female hostel at the Benue State University today was gutted but fire.
According to reports, the fire outbreak was caused by electrical fault on Tuesday morning in the Block S Hostel, 2nd campus.However no life was lost in the incident. We gathered that fire service men tried to put out the ragging inferno, which had already destroyed several properties in the institution.

Unknown Gunmen Kill Proprietor Of Kpav Comprehensive College In Benue State.

Gunmen on Monday shot dead the proprietor of Kpav Comprehensive College, Mr Kenneth Mbayev Kpav.
The incident occurred in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of the state.
The proprietor was killed at his house about 10:30pm. A witness said that the gunmen, numbering about five, came with sophisticated guns, adding that no other member of the family sustained injuries during the attack.
