Confidence Is Face of DStv Mobile.

Barely a week into her exit from the Big Brother Amplified reality series, Ghana’s outspoken rep, Confidence Haugen has chalked her first endorsement deal as the face of DStv Mobile in Ghana. The surprise revelation was made at a press conference in Accra to welcome the Big Brother ‘diva’ back home to Ghana.
This came as a welcomed surprise for the Big Brother housemate, who had hinted in her interactions with the press that she hopes to do more brand endorsements with her newly found fame. She described her statement about not needing the $200,000 cash prize as a misrepresentation by the media but rather meant that with the experience from the show, she would be walking away with more than $200,000.

Michelle Obama Visits Nelson Mandela.

title
title

The meeting with the 92-year-old South African Nobel Peace Prize winner was discreetly arranged after Obama and her daughters visited archives chronicling some of his 27 years as a political prisoner.

At the Mandela Foundation, his wife Graca Machel guided Obama, her mother, and her daughters Malia and Sasha walked through an exhibit of his personal photographs and journals, in which he meticulously drafted letters but also kept more mundane notes on his weight and daily routine.

"After leaving here, she proceeded to make a brief courtesy call on former president Mandela," said Achmat Dangor, the head of the foundation, calling the first lady "a lovely woman without any airs".

Their visit added to the symbolism surrounding Obama's journey, with the first black family in the White House meeting South Africa's first black president.

President Barack Obama has called the anti-apartheid struggle his first political cause, and US officials say he has had periodic telephone contact with Mandela, who led the struggle against white-minority rule.

Mandela welcomed the entire Obama  family into his home, including a niece and nephew travelling with them.

Such visits are increasingly rare.

Mandela, who turns 93 next month, has received few guests since he was hospitalised with an acute respiratory infection in January.

Still On The Technocrats To Be Ministers.Dr Samuel Ortom Makes List Too.

Map locator of Nigeria.
The new Federal Executive Council (FEC) continues to shapen up as more names have been short listed by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The new names submitted by the President include Prof. Bassey Ewah from Akwa Ibom State and the National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Samuel Ortom from Benue State. From Kwara State is a former Editor at THISDAY Newspapers and former Commissioner for Education in Kwara state, Bolaji Abdullahi. He is to represent Kwara State.
Abdullahi who was at the State Security Service (SSS) office at the weekend is expected to keep a final date with the SSS Monday.
According to THISDAY sources, the name of the National Secretary of PDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje was withdrawn at the last minutes. No reason was given.  Abdullahi's name was not in the earlier list submitted to the presidency by the former governor of Kwara state, Dr. Bukola Saraki. His nomination and subsequent screening brings to an end the ministerial nomination from the North Central State. The nomination of Abdullahi from Kwara state and Mary Onyeli-Omagbemi from Anambra state is seen as part of generational change in the administration of  Jonathan.
Also listed is the current national auditor of PDP, Dr. Samuel Ortom. He is from Benue state and was the Director of Administration and Logistics of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council. Hitherto, Ortom was a local government chairman and for seven years held the positions of  the state secretary of the PDP and  deputy state chairman of the party  before his emergence  as the National Auditor.
The ministerial nominee for Akwa Ibom state is Prof. Bassey Ewah. Sources said he is a direct nominee of Jonathan. According to the source, "the President overruled the nominee of Governor Godswill Akpabio who had earlier nominated the immediate past Minister of Housing and Lands, Hon. Nduese Essen for continuity, since he pioneered the ministry since creation". So far, all the states have one ministerial nomination, except Cross River State .  The state governor, Liyel Imoke had submitted 10 names but it is not known whom the President will choose.
The list of the ten nominees submitted include the immediate Minister of Environment John Ogar Odey. Others are Peter Abang Ojie Martina, Odom Julius Okputu, Edem Duke, Andem San Catherina, Uyok Okon, Ambassador Soni Abang, Prince Ebuta Ayuk and Mrs.  Margaret Ebokpo. The only outstanding ministerial nominees is from the six geo-political zones.

Benue State Tribunal Gets New Chairman.

The Benue State Governorship Election Tribunal has a new chairman, Justice Mummir Ladan.

He  presided over the pre-hearing notice of the petition filed by  the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) governorship candidate, Prof. Daniel Saror, against the election of Governor Gabriel Suswam, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The first tribunal Chairman, Justice Daisy Okocha, resigned before the beginning of the hearing of the two petitions against the election of Suswam.
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Prof Torkuma Ugba, also filed a petition at the tribunal against the election of Suswam.
There was confusion when Justice Okocha threw in the towel for alleged insecurity.
This led to the deflation of her vehicle’s tyres at Royal Choice Hotel, Makurdi, by some unknown persons.
Justice Mummir Ladan hails from Zamfara State.

Behold Jonathan's Technocrats In The Making.

Would you give up the power and privilege of the position of Managing Director of the World Bank in exchange for a second stint as Minister of Finance of Nigeria?
Would you do it if you had no guarantee you could control economic policy?  Would you do it for a local salary that is considerably out of tune with that of your current job in Washington, DC?
These are some of the questions said to be standing between Mrs. Ngozi Okonji-Iweala and the desire of Goodluck Jonathan to see his former cabinet colleague return to the job at Finance, and they have stalled the early release of his cabinet nominees.
Mr. Jonathan, who is putting finishing touches to a lackluster cabinet composed mostly of his former ministers and Peoples Democratic Party executives, is reportedly negotiating with Mrs. Okonji-Iweala. She had previously been involved in a dollar-denominated salary controversy when she took up a similar appointment with former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

Dr.  Okonjo-Iweala is currently in Nigeria and amongst new ministerial nominees whose names were obtained last night by SaharaReporters.  Although her last and brief job was in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she would most likely be nominated to head Finance.
Other names on the list include Mary Onyali-Omagbemi, a former field and track champion; Ms Jumoke Akinjide, the daughter of Chief Akinjide of the infamous 12-2/3rd controversy; Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman; Alhaji Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar; Alhaji Nuhu Zagbayi, Dr. Mohammed Haliru Bello, Professor Rufai Alkali, a former PDP secretary, Dr. Tonye Cole; Hajiya Zainab Maina;  Alhaji Bukar Tijjani; Mr. Mohammed Musa; Dr. Akinwumi Adefila; Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi; Alhaji Yerima Ngama, Mrs. Ada Okwuon, Elder Godsday Orubebe; and Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke.
Others are Professor Bath Nnaji , Jonathan's adviser on power who is expected to head the Power ministry; Mr. Mohammed Adoke; Dr. Onyebuchi Chukwu; Mr. Labaran Maku, Chief Chukwuemeka Ngozi Wogu; Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, SAN; Senator Bala Mohammed; Prince Adetokunbo Kayode; Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, and Professor Ruqqayatu Rufai.

Pastor Declares Himself As A Billionaire.

Click for Full Image Size
Pastor Paul.

“I am a billionaire and there is nothing anybody can do about it,” Pastor Adefarasin boasted yesterday as he preached in an N8.5 million a day auditorium at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

“I have coached many billionaires and you know, the pastor of billionaires is a billionaire,” Adefarasin who was not included among the five richest pastors in Nigeria by a blogger with Forbes, the influential American magazine that keeps a tab on the world’s rich.

The Forbes blogger, Mfonobong Nsehe, had said that after intense research, he established that the official wealth of Bishop David Oyedepo, Chris Oyakhilome, TB Joshua, Matthew Ashimolowo and Chris Okotie, Nigeria’s five richest pastors, is between N31 and 37 billion.

But, TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations has denied the report, saying that he does not even keep a bank account and cannot save billions in the bank while millions are going hungry.

“The preacher of billionaire can only be a billionaire because a monkey cannot give birth to a goat and a goat cannot follow a baboon,” Adefarasin, who is completing a multi-billion naira church in Lekki, said as he adjusted his cute Italian suit.

“I am a preacher. I am a motivational speaker. I am a TV personality. I am a life coach. You can criticise me or slander me in the pages of newspapers but the blessings are in me and there is nothing anyone can do about it,” he said.

Adefarasin, who preached on Phillipians 2:6-14 with the theme ‘Work It Out’, said that when he was still a drug addict in Miami, United States, with a low self esteem, he never imagined that he could financially achieve so much for himself and the ministry.

“I was a nobody. I had a low self esteem but God did it for me. If God can make it for me, he can make it for you,” Adefarasin said amidst boisterous ovations.

To become a billionaire, Christians must simply imagine it, ask and realise that money, blessing and favour are already in them. All they need is to ‘work out’ what ‘God has already worked in’.

“Some of you do not see that you are already billionaires but there is a difference between to create and to unveil. God will simply unveil your billions to you as he did to me,” he said to an elated and expectant congregation

How Africa Voted To Evict And Keep Housemates.

This week you voted to save your favourite Housemate, take a look at how the voting week played out.
Danny received the least country votes, and was Evicted.
There was a two-way tie with both Nic and Luclay receiving 2 country votes each.
For this reason the tie-breaking mechanism was used. On a percentage basis, Luclay was returned to the Tails House, and Nic was evicted.
How You Voted:
Karen: 6 country votes – Nigeria, Angola, Rest of Africa, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia (31.65%)
Kim: 4 country votes – Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi (25.11%)
Luclay: 2 country votes – South Africa, Botswana (18.06%)
Nic: 2 country votes – Kenya, Uganda (12.37%)
Danny: 1 country vote – Ethiopia (12.81%)

Time Up for Danny & Nic!

NIC AND DANNY.

After surviving Eviction once and being whisked into Tails, Danny has been Evicted from the Big Brother House after seven weeks in the game butNic was also not spared.
In true IK fashion, Kim was the first one to be asked to stand, followed by Danny then IK told her she had been saved but her beau, Nic was still awaiting his fate. Kim couldn’t help herself, she screamed on top of her voice before breaking down.
The calm Ethiopian Housemate seemed puzzled at first but Alex quickly snatched him and gave him a long hug while Luclay just broke down.
Once on stage with IK, Danny thought it was just the girls who had nominated him but was shocked to see Alex on that list.
Meanwhile, IK was back for the final announcement.
Luweza clutched onto Karen after IK announced that she was safe then it was down to the two guys, Nic and Luclay. Luclay was relieved but it was time for Nic to say goodbye.
Kim couldn’t help herself and waited for her beau outside then gave him the long hug goodbye.
I suppose it dawned to Kim right there that Nic would actually find out that she too had put his head on the block.

Happy Father's Day.

Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in many countries and on other days elsewhere. It complements mother's day. This year's Father's is on the 19 june 2011
Here is a poem for My Hubby and Daddy.

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,
And so he called it DAD.
