Benue State residents and businesses are groaning under the weight of a new revenue drive introduced by the Governor Samuel Ortom administration to boost internally generated revenue (IGR).
Championed by the Benue state Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), the revenue drive is characterized by desperation, adoption of unorthodox methods of collection, allegations of arbitrary levies and rate increments, lack of assessment, multiplicity of taxes and collectors, as well as harassment of tax payers.

The trial of the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has been adjourned till March 18 by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
President of the CCT, Danladi Umar adjourned the trial on Friday after the Federal Government, opposed a fresh application by Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, challenging the powers of the Attorney General of the Federation to prosecute him over the allegation brought against him.
