Magistrate Court Sentence Man To 6Months Imprisonment For Picking Senator Emmanuel Nkwocha's Pocket.

A 52-year-old man, Mohammed Lawal, was yesterday sentenced to six months imprisonment for picking a senator’s pocket inside a hotel in Abuja.
Lawal was said to have pretended to beg for money from his victim, Senator Emmanuel Nkwocha, as the senator made his way into the venue of an event at the hotel and dug his hand into the senator’s pocket. The pick-pocket was said to have dropped the money on the floor when he was apprehended.
Police Prosecutor, Abdullahi Adamu, had told the court that the matter was reported at Wuse Zone 3 Police Station by Abdullahi Kabiru of Prescort Village, Abuja on September 18, 2012.

Ms Washima, who made the pledge at a news conference in Abuja, said already the new office has made available over five thousand jobs in the last month.
“Last week someone called me and was offering me 5, 000 job vacancies. We are going to have a website where people can upload their CVs. I don’t need to know you; I don’t need to know your face. Just go there, if you qualify for that job, apply for it and be sure that you will be called up for an interview,” she said.
“We are not bringing anything new. We are not trying to do something that has never been done before. But we are going to build on existing structure and strengthen the labour laws of this country in such a way that we will do away with bottle-necks.

Husband Sends Wife Packing For Refusing To Give Him A Blow Job.

It was indeed sad and shocking yet interesting hearing how couple who started out as lovers, ended up as boxers after 24 years of marriage with 4 children.
And the woman narrates her story below.
“Please can I see your editor?  I have a story for you ‘guys’. A lady in her mid late 40s with scars of anger all over her, carrying barely a 2 year-old baby walked into our newsroom and demanded to see the editor.
Her mood literally was that of despair, anger and confusion.
“Sorry, our editor went  out of the country, hope there’s no problem,” one of our reporters inquires.
“No problem, it’s just that I have a story to share with you. My name is Bola (surname withheld), I’m from Igangan area of Ibadan,” she introduces herself, “a friend of mine who’s a regular reader of your site told me about your true confession column and I would love to have my story published there too,” the desperate woman requests.
“Why coming all the way from Ibadan to our office, why didn’t you send it via e mail.?” Another reporter asks.
“Because I wanted the world to know what I’m passing through. This is not an Internet matter my brother.” I don’t want people to think its a cook up story,” She insists.
Like a set of tales by moonlight, our reporters encircled this woman and her child and she begins to narrate her ordeal.
“It all started well between us  some years ago during our NYSC service in the northern part of the country. We both were close friends during our youth service, people used to call us ‘oko and iyawo (husband and wife in Yoruba) as at then. After the service, we lost contact and few years latter we again met at a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) convention is Isse, Ekiti State. We reunited  and that was how our journey to marital world started.
He proposed marriage to me and I accepted but on one condition, ‘no pre marital sex’ (because then I was still a virgin and a Born Again child of God) he agreed to my terms and we moved on.
I was afraid because he’s an Ibo guy.
To cut the long story short, were united in Holy Matrimony on Saturday, July 16, 1988.
Our marriage is blessed with 4 children, this is the last born (pointing at the one on her legs.)
My husband works with one of the telecommunication companies and always travels out of country.
Precisely last June, he returned from a trip and asked me to ‘go under’ him.
Jesus! I screamed, you mean I should suck your ‘manhood?’ I asked him.
He told me ‘yes’ and I outrightly said NO, that night, I received the beating of my life. My God, I was mad, wishing the earth could open up and swallow me.
It didn’t end there, he promised to continue beating me until I obey his order.
There was a night, he threw me and my daughter out of the house, we slept under the rain. I must confess, I regretted getting married to him that night.
I was inquisitive to know why he suddenly turned a ‘porn star’ over night, his friend confided in me that when he traveled to Port Hacourt recently, those commercial sex workers came to “ease him” thought him  the act of “Blow Job.”
There was this occasion, he brought in a prostitute and had sex with her in front of I and my children, he even called me to come and learn from her. (Sobbing)
Last month, he finally threw my loads out of his house and warned me never to return until I’m ready to succumb to his urge.
I’ve been wondering like a vagabond for the past 3 weeks now with my daughter, not even for or water food for the innocent girl.
Before she could finish her story, Rita, one of our female reporters was already soaked in tears. She was touched by the strange but true story of this mother of 4. “Such is life my sister,” she consoles her, ‘God will fight for you’ tapping the battered woman on her shoulder; So touching that even our clients who came around could not go until the end of her story.
She continues, “Please I beg you, I’m tired, I don’t know where to go from here, tell your readers to advise me.
Should I bow to his ugly romance (which is hard for me) or return his daughter to him and continue with my life” she added.
Pls share your thoughts this lady needs help.

Kanye West Sex Tape Leaks.

It looks like the G.O.O.D. Music front man is having a bit of "cruel" luck, as a sex tape featuring him and a Kim Kardashian look alike is currently being shopped around.

In the only released screen shot of the flick, we see a shirtless Kanye adjusting the camera to film himself about to, well, have sex of course! RadarOnline captured the screen grab and reports the tape is way hotter than Kim and Ray J's.

The tape is nearly 20 minutes long and features the woman stating she's over 18 years old (smart move!), as well as this interesting tidbit:
"My husband and I don't have sex anymore… that's why I'm here!"
Kanye and the Kim look-alike reportedly never kiss during the session, and Yeezy does wear a condom while putting the woman in multiple positions. Steamy indeed!

Jay-Z And Beyonce Raise $40million For Obama's Campaign.

Beyonce promised to raise money for Barack Obama and they definitely delivered.  Donors showed up at Jay’s exclusive 40/40 club and paid $40,000 each to attend the fundraising event.  After an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, the commander-in-chief headed over to the venue to show his appreciation for their efforts.
Wearing a red cocktail dress, Beyonce told the crowd: "I can't tell you how proud we are to host tonight's event with President Obama. We believe in his vision."
That much is definitely true.  The power couple have never been shy about their political preferences and now, after raising $4 million for his campaign, they can say that they played a role in his possible re-election.
Obama took the stage and thanked them for their friendship and praised Beyonce for being a great role model for his daughters because “she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent."
The evening wasn’t completely serious, though.  The President joked that his wife, Michelle, as well as his girls, Sasha and Malia, were mad at him because they weren’t able to go to the star-studded event.  He also took a moment to commiserate with Jay-Z saying: "We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's okay."
The American leader also left the crowd with an inspirational message: "We've made history in the past and we're going to make history in the next seven weeks."
The U.S. Presidential elections take place this November.

36 State Governors Vow To Block Oil Wealth Fund In Court.

Nigerian Governor's Forum.

36 State Governors vowed on Thursday to go to court to stop the Federal Government from putting oil revenues into a sovereign wealth fund.
Africa's top crude producer has been moving closer to joining its OPEC partners in creating a sovereign wealth fund for long-term investment of its oil cash.
The governors, who enjoy luxurious lifestyles and wield huge patronage, had been opposed to the fund because they feared it would reduce their share of the oil money.
The country pumps over two million barrels of oil a day but economists say revenue over the decades has been wasted on bloated government wages, a vast patronage network that gets costlier closer to election time, or plain embezzlement.
The sovereign wealth fund aims to tie up a portion of the oil cash in a government-run investment portfolio, buying anything from mainstream assets such as stocks and bonds to direct foreign investment. Nigeria is one of only three OPEC members that does not have such a fund.
Nigeria's oil earnings over a benchmark price are currently paid into the Excess Crude Account (ECA), which is meant to be for the benefit of future generations or cushion against oil price shocks.
But there is little oversight of it and it is often raided even when oil prices are high. It now contains around $8 billion and is distributed between the three tiers of government, including the 36 states.
Last year, the governors went to court to try to block the fund's creation, arguing it was unconstitutional for the federal government to control all excess oil funds, instead of distributing them. The 36 governors have said they do not trust Federal Government  to manage the fund.
Finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala seemed to have talked them around in June, and they agreed to it.
As a compromise the sovereign wealth fund is supposed to start with just $1 billion. But Okonjo-Iweala made it clear last month she wants it to replace the ECA.
"On the Excess Crude Account, the forum unanimously decided to head back to court to enforce the federal government's adherence to the constitution," a joint statement by the governors said.

President Goodluck Jonathan may have bowed to the pressure on him by Nigerians to halt  the introduction of N5000 note by the C.B.N.The president said the decision was being suspended to enable more discussion and enlightenment on the matter.
President Goodluck Jonathan has officially halted the plan by the Central Bank of Nigeria to introduce of the N5,000 note into the economy, presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, confirmed Wednesday night.
Mr. Abati, said “the introduction is being suspended for now to enable the CBN do more enlightenment on the issue.”
He said the suspension will enable the apex bank to do more in terms of enlightening Nigerians on why the proposal was made in the first place.
The CBN’S naira restructuring policy had caused weeks of controversy with analysts challenging the CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi, on the rationale behind the policy. They say it contradicted the cashless policy of the apex bank.
The National Assembly had directed the president to put a stop to the planned proposal saying the policy is anti-people, will cause inflation, and breaches relevant laws.

Catholic Bishops Protest DSTV’s Suspension Of Religious Channel.

DSTV’s removal of a Catholic channel has angered its audience and the Nigerian Bishops.
The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has said it will sue the management of the satellite television, DSTV, for suspending a religious channel on its bouquet.
In a statement released, on Thursday, in Lagos, Emmanuel Badejo, Chairman of the Conference’s Directorate of Communications, described the cable TV company’s action as “regrettable”, “discriminating,” and “unacceptable.”
Mr. Badejo said that the bishops and Catholics nationwide were not happy about the suspension of the popular network, EWTN.
“In the last two weeks, offices in Catholic Dioceses across Nigeria have been besieged with calls from the faithful who hitherto have been able to receive EWTN on [the] DSTV bouquet in Nigeria,” the Bishop said. “Upon investigation, we found that DSTV had decided to suspend this channel to the greatest bewilderment of thousands of our subscribers for whom EWTN had become their family and faithful channel.”
EWTN, according to Mr. Badejo, is a religious channel broadcasting the Catholic Church’s activities, and it was the only such channel on the satellite television’s bouquet. He also said it was the only religious channel suspended by the South African company.
He said the DSTV management, claimed the channel was suspended because it was “unpopular.” This claim, Mr. Badejo said, is unacceptable given the deluge of complaints from Catholic faithfuls nationwide.
He called on the outfit to review the suspension and bring the channel back on air for the “millions of starved Christian households” whose faith the network nourishes.

Arik Airline Accuses Aviation Minister Of Corrupt Demands From Them.

Arik Airline was yesterday grounded by,the Airline says it is suffering because it bruised the ego of the aviation minister when it refused to accede to ‘personal interest’ requests.
Corrupt demands allegedly made by the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, led to the disruption of flights by Nigeria’s largest domestic carrier, Arik Air.
Arik Air, suspended indefinitely all its domestic operations after aviation union workers from the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) disrupted its flights out of Lagos on Thursday.
Union members gathered at the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport as early as 7a.m. and prevented the airline from operating its normal flights over allegedly unpaid debts.
The union members claimed that the airline owes aviation agencies a combined debt of about N17bn, a claim the airline denies.
Despite the public knowledge of Arik’s debt, the grounding of the airline’s operations by the union members, sources say, is a reflection of the intention of Ms. Oduah.
The 5 per cent demand
Source close to the Aviation body said ,Ms. Oduah, made a demand from Arik’s owners, a demand too much for the management to let go of.
The Vice-Chairman of Arik Air, Aniete Okon, hinted at the minister’s ‘greedy’ demand while addressing journalists in Lagos, Thursday afternoon when he said the airline is being punished for its refusal to accede to the personal interest of Ms. Oduah.
“This is a direct result to the rebuff that the minister suffered when she tried to promote personal rather than national interest,” Mr. Okon said.
Mr. Okon, fearing a direct confrontation with the minister, a close ally of President Goodluck Jonathan, declined to give details of Ms. Oduah’s demands.
Multiple and usually reliable sources however told PREMIUM TIMES that the “personal interest” Ms. Oduah demanded, was a part ownership of Arik.
“The Minister wants 5per cent share of Arik at all cost, which has been resisted by the Arik Chairman,” a close source to the two parties said.
The source also alleged that Dana Air, whose operating license was returned after suspension following its airline crash of July, agreed to the minister’s demand before it was permitted to operate again.
Arik is a dying airline
The Aviation Minister has however denied having personal interest in Arik.
Ms. Oduah speaking through her media assistant, Joe Obi said the allegations by Arik is a diversionary tactic.
“Arik should be advised to live up to its responsibility as a corporate citizen and stop chasing shadows,” Mr. Obi said.
He said the minister never demanded a part ownership of Arik.
“Why will the minister want to have a stake in a business that is not thriving. The minister has never and will never show an interest in an ailing firm,” Mr. Obi said.
The minister also denied having any secret deal with Dana before the lifting of its suspension.
Mr. Obi, while explaining the Ministry’s decision to lift Dana’s suspension even when the airline was yet to pay adequate compensation to all the families of the crash victims, said Ms. Oduah did the right thing.
“Where is it done that if an aircraft in a fleet has an accident, the entire aircraft is grounded?” he said, explaining that the ministry and its agencies were carrying out adequate certification of Dana’s fleet.
Mr. Obi could however not give the correct value to Arik’s debt.
How much does Arik owe
A breakdown of the sum the aviation union accuses Arik of owing shows that Arik Air owes FAAN N7bn; the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, is owed N5 billion naira; and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, over N4 billion.
Though Arik admitted it was owing the aviation agencies, it denied the circulated figures.
The airlines Managing Director, Chris Ndulue, said, “the amount the agency (FAAN) is claiming is fictitious and baseless.”
“We have an outstanding balance of N1.6bn from the period before FAAN/Ministry of Aviation started “Pay-As-You-Go (payment in advance). In January 2011, the former minister of aviation directed that such outstanding be cleared within thirty months. We have been paying down on the amount installments of N100m per month. We will continue to do so,” Mr. Ndulue said.
Mr. Obi, the minister’s spokesman questioned Arik’s integrity accusing the management of financial irresponsibility.
“Part of the money they are owing is not their money. They are part of the airfares they have collected from passengers and are supposed to remit to the government,” he said. “Instead they keep them (the money) to themselves.”
Arik is blackmailing Government
The aviation minister also accused the Arik management of blackmailing the government.
“The decision to suspend its operations is a blackmail tool,” Mr. Obi explained. “We can never be blackmailed.”
Arik claimed it was suspending its operations nationwide due to what it described as “persistent hostility of the Ministry of Aviation and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) management.”
The management of FAAN however released a statement this afternoon distancing itself from the action of the union members.
The agency said it was “not aware of any plan by the unions to embark on the said industrial action.”
“Management considers it to be counter-productive to the current efforts being made to recover debt owed FAAN by Arik Airline or other customers.”
The agency said it was doing everything possible to resolve the issues that led to the industrial action.
Let the court be the arbiter
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, who could not travel to Abuja due to the industrial action, told PREMIUM TIMES that the union shouldn’t be preventing passengers from travelling.
“I had cause to address the leaders of the workers. I did make it clear to them that workers have no business inconveniencing passengers,” he said.
He advised that instead of disrupting the operations of the airline, the agency should take their case to the court.
“It’s the duty of regulatory agency to collect the money from the money from the airlines that are owing and if any of them refuses to pay the proper action in the circumstance is to go to court.”

Orji Uzor Kalu Joins 2015 Presidential Race.

The former Abia governor is not waiting till 2015 to begin his campaign
The  maverick former governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu, Thursday, crept into Ile Ife, the ancestral home of the Yoruba in Osun State, for a hush-hush meeting with the Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade, the main goal of which is to lobby the powerful monarch for his presumed 2015 presidential ambition.
In essence, Mr. Kalu has effectively flagged off the 2015 presidential race by throwing his hat into the ring three years to Election Day.
The meeting, held in the afternoon, saw the former governor arrive with at least 17 aides all dressed in black suit. The meeting was held at the Oba’s palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The Ooni of Ife is considered by many to be the number one traditional ruler among the Yoruba’s, one of Nigeria’s largest ethnic groups.
Mr. Kalu is the leader of a weakened People’s Progressive Alliance whose two governors coming out of the 2007 elections, Theodore Orji of Abia state, and Ikedi Ohakim of Imo defected to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. The Abia governor was a former aide of Mr. Kalu, who he helped to win the 2007 elections. Both men fell out after which the governor decamped to the PDP, under whose platform he won his re-election in 2011.
Mr. Kalu told our palace source that the visit to the Oba’s palace was part of a wider consultation with traditional rulers across Nigeria, a preface to his formal declaration for the 2015 presidential election.
Mr. Kalu is apparently not relying on traditional rulers and political leaders alone for his yet-to-be-declared ambition. To court the social media community which is growing in political relevance in Nigeria, Mr. Kalu has built a sleek website which he intends to fully utilize, on his formal declaration of interest, for the election.
It is still unclear under which political party the former governor intends to run. Mr. Kalu has of late been oscillating between the ruling PDP and the opposition PPA, a party he helped formed but which has now been weakened by intense infighting and the former governor’s refusal to continue to fund it.
String of Failures
In 2007, Mr. Kalu, contested for president under his party, PPA, and lost. Though a successful businessman, the former governor relied on funds, anti- corruption officials claim, taken from Abia State accounts.
In the 2011 general election, he also contested his local constituency senatorial seat but lost to his estranged ally, Uche Chukwumerije, who defected to the PDP to win the seat.
Since leaving office in 2007, the pan-Igbo politician has been facing trial for corruption.
Shortly after leaving office in July 2007, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned Mr. Kalu before an Abuja High Court on a 10-count charge bordering on money laundering, official corruption and diversion of public funds totaling over N5 billion.
The case is still in court.
His airline, Slok Air, later went under not long after the EFCC linked it to allegedly stolen Abia State funds.
In 2010, Mr. Kalu was questioned by the American police after a female friend died in his U.S home.
