Girl, 10, Gives Birth To Baby In Mexico.

A Mexican girl has become a mother at the age of just 10, according to reports.

The youngster arrived at a hospital in the city of Puebla, suffering from life-threatening complications in her 31-week pregnancy, including seizures.

She gave birth by Caesarean section to a boy weighing 3.3lb at the Women's Hospital in the city, 60 miles south-east of Mexico City.

Case of certificate forgery against Rep adjourned.

TRIAL has begun in the case of alleged forgery filed at the Federal High Court, Abakaliki against a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tobias Okwuru, representing Ikwo/Ezza federal constituency.

Justice S. Saidu, who is hearing the case has adjourned it till November 22, 2011.

In the suit, the plaintiff, Alphonsus Chinedu Nwali, the candidate for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the April 26, 2011 election, claimed that the lawmaker presented a forged degree certificate from the Institute of Continuing Education Programme of Imo State University (IMSU) to the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

He also alleged that the recent visit of members of the Lower House to the university in Owerri might not be unconnected with ongoing attempts to obstruct the course of justice in the matter.

His counsel, Gabriel Amadi averred that Okwuru presented two admission letters from ICEP of IMSU with one year gap: 2000/2001 and 2001/2002, contending that it left much to the imagination how the respondent obtained one degree result in September 2006.

Appeal Court Dissolves Borno Governorship Election Tribunal.

The judgment of the borno state Governorship Election Petition siting in Abuja was on Thursday arrested following the disbanding of the panel by a directive from the President of the Court of Appeal.

The venue of the court’s proceedings was already bursting at its seams as early as 7:25 am with supporters of Governor Kashim Shettima of the All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, and those of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Ibrahim Goni.

News of the dissolution of the panel soon began to filter into the large supporters’ ears and pandemonium soon broke out as questions started flying around as to the reason for the dissolution of the panel on a day scheduled for the delivery of judgment.

The PDP and its candidate in the 26 April gubernatorial election, Ibrahim Goni, were challenging the victory of ANPP’s Kashim Shettima at the polls but the Tribunal’s location was shifted from Maiduguri, the state capital to the Federal Capital city in the wake of series of bomb attacks by the raging Boko Haram Islamic sect.

Rt Hon David Iorhemba Emerges Speaker Benue State House Of Assembly.

After days of negotiations and lobbying, Mr. David Iorhemba, representing Guma Constituency, has emerged the new  Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly. He was inaugurated today.

Iorhemba emerged few days after receiving the endorsement of the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, in Guma Local Government Area to contest the position, following last Tuesday's annulment of the election of the former speaker, Terhemen Terzoo, from Makurdi South Constituency, by the Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi.

Tarzoo lost his Makurdi North position to Mr. Avine Agbom of ACN.

Confirming the development, a member of the Assembly and leading member of the ruling PDP told newsmen that the lawmaker emerged through consensus.

He said: "We have elected David Iorhemba as the  Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, that is our position after the ouster of the last speaker by the appellate court."

Iorhemba had indicated strong interest in the speakership position of the assembly when it was inaugurated in June, but stepped down at the last minute for the ousted speaker. 

Hon. Iorhemba who hails from Guma Local Government Area of Benue state was born on 23 rd December 1966 at Yogbo-Mbagwen.

He attended the NKST Primary School, Isherev, from 1971 to 1977 and obtained the First School Leaving Certificate. The legislator proceeded to Government College, Makurdi, 1977-1982, for the General Certificate of Education, GCE ‘O’ Level. From 1984 to 1986 he read and obtained the National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply from the Kaduna Polytechnic. After a brief stint with the Benue Bottling Company Makurdi, Hon Iorhemba was admitted into the University of Jos, 1992-1994, for a Diploma in Law.

He later bagged a Bachelor of Law, LL.B from the same university where he studied from 1995-2000. Hon. Iorhemba later attended the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja 2002-2003, after which he became a Barrister at Law having been called to bar in 2003. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Law at the University of Jos.

Hon Iorhemba worked with the Benue State judiciary at various levels as court bailiff, from 1987-1988; Court Registrar, 1989-1992; Court member, 1994-1995.

He was Area Court Judge in 1995; and Magistrate, from 2003-2007.

Hon Iorhemba was also Principal Partner, D.K Iorhemba & Co from 2007-Feb. 2009.

He was elected into the House of Assembly on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP as a replacement of the late Hon Steven Yogbo who passed on after a protracted illness.

Married and blessed with four children, the legislator enjoys playing badminton, watching football, reading newspapers & novels, discussing international politics as hobbies.

A 30-year-old-man, Lanre Aremu, has been arrested by the police in Kogi State for allegedly raping a 96-year-old grandmother, Ige Samuel, in Iyara, Ijumu Local Government Area. Reports from Omojuwa.com have it that the Nigerian State Security Service (SSS) today arrested the National Youth Council President Wale Ajani in a bid to stop Friday’s planned protest and a hunger strike billed to hold at Unity Fountain, Abuja.
A source with Wale Ajani at SSS office says he’s been held and questioned for hours. Wale Ajani only last Sunday described the removal of oil subsidy as “EVIL.”

Wale Ajani plans to stage a huge campaign by encouraging young Nigerians to stay away from food come 11-11-11. According to Wale Ajani , this course of action is going to be taken as a protest showing disapproval with government’s recent plans to remove the fuel subsidy.

Another Young Man Found Dead In Makurdi.

Even as the sallah celebration were low-keyed owing to security challenges across the nation, Makurdi , the Benue State capital, was yesterday thrown into confusion as residents around the Railway fruit market, discovered the battered body of a young man murdered by unknown assailants.

The young man, known as Charles Obi, popularly known as “gunshot” suspected to be in his thirties was found dead by traders.



According to family members, Charles, who is also a fruit seller at the railway market, had on Thursday, 3rd November, returned from Ikom in Cross River State where he brought Pineapples and Bananas, and had planned a return trip on Saturday, 12th.



Eyewitnesses at the scene where the corpse was found told national accord that, they had heard footsteps of people in pursuit and later on, screams for help but were scared to come out as they thought the people involved were armed.

It was gathered that the killing may have been the result of a misunderstanding between rival groups, as the victim, was said to have

recently denounced his erstwhile nickname of “gunshot”, probably out of fear of attacks.
