Rihanna Buys 7 Bedroom Mansion In Pacific Palisades

Diamonds are indeed forever!! Seriously, what’s a girl to do when her titled album “Diamonds” is a huge success? Well, if you’re “bad girl RiRi” you go out and buy yourself a 7-bedroom, 9-bathroom mansion is in one of the most coveted neighborhoods…Pacific Palisades. According to X17, “the home is newly constructed and includes everything. An outdoor firepit, infinity pool with spa, a sun deck overlooking the treetops, media room and the latest in cutting edge technology: a smart-home system that allows homeowners to control air conditioning and heat, fireplaces and the sound system remotely.”

Now that sounds dreamy and might be everything the Barbados-born jet-setter could dream of! It was also noted that the house was originally priced at $15 million but Rihanna may have gotten it for a ”deal” at only $11.9 million. I guess in Tinsletown, $11 million is a deal, eh? I digress, if you live in the Palisades that’s a drop in the bucket, so to speak.

Congrats to Rihanna and maybe I’ll get an invite to the housewarming event. Hey, you never know.

Obama To Nominate Sen. John Kerry As Next Secretary Of State To Replace Hillary Clinton.

A senior administration official said on Friday that President Barack Obama will nominate Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass. as his next secretary of state this afternoon from the White House.
The 69-year-old, who began his tenure in the Senate in 1985, is expected to be a shoo-in during the Congressional confirmation process and will fill the vacancy left by outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The expected announcement will come after the president's top choice for the spot, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, took herself out of the running for the post given the controversy over her reaction to the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on September 11.

Former Governor Of Kogi State,Prince Audu Wanted By EFCC.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has declared former governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu wanted for offences bordering on conspiracy, stealing and misappropriation of public fund.
The action followed the failure of the suspect to respond to invitation by the anti- graft agency.
Attempt by the EFCC to arrest Audu at his 32, Sulaiman Barau Street, Asokoro, Abuja residence on December 11, 2012 failed as he allegedly evaded arrest.
The former governor is alleged to have fraudulently enriched himself to the tune of over N4 billion while he held sway as governor of Kogi State between 1999 and 2003.
The move to arrest the ex- governor followed a Supreme Court ruling of November 23, 2012, which dismissed the ex-governor's appeal to continue to protract his corruption trial by EFCC.
The Commission implores any one having useful information about the whereabouts of the suspect to notify its offices in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Lagos, Kano and Enugu or report at the nearest police station.

I Won't Waste My Time Mourning Yakowa And Azazi, I Have Questions To Ask By Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri

The chopper went down. Souls perished. Investigations, as usual, have been ordered. Three days mourning have also been declared. And the routine blame and counter-blame games erupt among the populations, with the attendant religious, ethnic and tribal twists to a sad story. This is the story of Nigeria!

I am neither going to waste my time on needless lingoes of sympathy nor pour out mundane ‘eye service’ adulation to the departed general Owoeye Azazi and governor Patrick Yakowa as many Nigerians are wont to. Rather, I am going to vent my anger, asking the avoided questions that are begging ofor cogent answers. The Bayelsa helicopter crash is another eye-opener to the sordid state of governance in Nigeria; the gross abuse of public office; the flight of accountability; and the unprecedented rape of the nation’s treasury going on under President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The crash incident clearly reveals the depth of the plunge abuse of public office has assumed with tacit the approval, and support of the current leadership.

Last Saturday, a common aide to the president, Oronto Douglas, buried his father in his hometown, Okoroba community in Nembe Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. His father’s burial, a purely private activity, cost another six lives, NEEDLESSLY! For the purpose of facilitating the comfort of private guests attending a PRIVATE occasion, a naval aircraft, a public property belonging to the Nigerian Navy was impudently converted to personal use, to grease the ‘special ego” of a presidential aide and his personal visitors. A whole navy commander of the Nigerian Navy – a senior public officer – was drafted away from the warmth of his family on a weekend, to render “kabu kabu” services to the guests of a fellow citizen using government-owned property! While that unsung navy commander is no more, the same presidential aide who pushed him to his early grave continues to retain his portfolio, enjoying the perks of public office. If unchecked, he may still send more naval officers to their untimely graves, except his relatives magnanimously postpone their dying and funeral dates.

Without that Bayelsa crash incident, Nigerians would never have known about the wanton exercise of official indiscretion by political appointees. That incident presented Nigerians with concrete evidence of impunity, revealing how national security apparatus and public facilities are deployed away from the scenes where they are urgently needed, to venues of private, lavish owanbes and political gatherings. That is not all. Few months ago, the Nigerian president presented a bloated budget Nigerians knew would not be implemented. Billions of Naira were as usual, allocated for the maintenance of helicopters and aircrafts in the military and naval fleet. With what we know now, budgetary allocation for the maintenance of these aircrafts and helicopters is not borne out of any patriotic or good governance considerations, but merely to ensure that they are functional enough to meet the “comfy private needs” of high-ranking public officials.

A week before Oronto Douglas’ father’s burial, all roads led to Otueke, the home of the president for the funeral of his younger brother. We don’t need anyone to tell us that something similar happened. Helicopters of the Nigerian Navy, Airforce, military and other national security formations were ostensibly used to ferry private guests to the president’s hometown AT THE NATION’S EXPENSE! Emboldened, or rather enamored of that ludicrous indiscretion, Oronto Douglas followed suit. But this time around, the consequences were dire.

In many quarters, the names, ‘President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’ represent unsurpassed CORRUPTION! Although nearly all pasts leaders of the country are believed to be corrupt, none of them, including the past military rulers were directly linked to an all-time-high festival of corruption, as currently witnessed in Nigeria. So beyond the traditional setting up of committees and investigatory panels, Nigerians are well aware that these steps are wholly cosmetic, bereft of any real intent to explore lasting solutions to festering national challenges. In fact, committees are not only conduit pipes for continued official wastages, but appear to be the fastest way of “killing” any issue that provokes public outrage. In Goodluck Jonathan’s “transformation theory”, a “big man” has to die before grave issues of national importance are taken seriously. Hundreds and thousands who die on pot-hole infested roads across the country on a regular basis are undeserving of his protection and crocodile tears. Only until the federal highways of death claims the life of a “big man”: a fuel subsidy thief; a PDP chieftain; a president’s aide; a governor; then the contract to repair the road would be hurriedly awarded; fake tears shed under the keen watch of clacking cameras, and stupid committees set up to investigate and offer recommendations no one needs.

Just weeks ago, Dino Melaye, in his oft-boisterous manner, drew public attention to the poor state of roads networks in the Niger Delta region, – especially the popular East-West Road – and accused the former Niger Delta minister, Godsday Orubebe of corruption. Rather than look into the merits of Melaye’s claims, presidential and ministerial aides lashed out at him, calling him all sorts of unprintable names. Had FG heeded Melaye’s call, perhaps, the East-West Road would have been fixed, while the over-use of a naval helicopter which caused the Saturday deaths would have been totally unnecessary! That road, currently in a sorry state of disrepair, is the major link road to the South-South states. The wretched condition of that road forced the “big men of Bayelsa” to resort to using choppers and helicopters, thereby dispensing a death sentence on poor citizens who commute that road daily. According to eye witness accounts, when the news of the crash filtered in, some of the remaining guests opted to travel by road instead; the same road they refused to repair; the same road they have condemned other motorists to use at their own peril.

There is no way an Oronto Douglas would convert the nation’s security apparatus and maritime infrastructure to personal use without the express approval from the president. That acquiescence makes the president complicit in the needless death of innocent citizens. At a time the Niger Delta waterways is ravaged by unparalleled oil theft and large-scale maritime criminality, the lead agency responsible for curbing the excesses of sea pirates and oil thievery chose that delicate period to donate its scare resources and choppers to guests of an owanbe funeral. In saner climes, the president would have tendered his resignation by now, and the so-called aide would at the very least, bow out in shame after he had tendered an unreserved apology in all national dailies. In addition, a massive shake-up in the Nigeria Navy, commensurate with the extent of absurdity displayed by its authorities would have since begun.

Let those who want to mourn, mourn! But this issue does not call for mourning, but deep introspection into the leadership crisis that has enveloped this country. It is a time for incongruous characters like Oronto Douglas to be eased out of government circles for gross abuse of public office. It’s a time for Niger Deltans to ask the right questions and speak the truth to its chronically erring leaders. It is the time for heads to roll in the Nigerian Navy. It is a time for the Nigerian Navy to conduct an extensive audit of its operations, facilities and procedures. It is a time for Nigerians to demand accountability from leaders determined to drive this country to doom. It is a time for action, a time to unlock all the incredible potential of our citizens to collectively change the country.

300 Nigerian Pilgrims Stranded in Israel.

The pilgrims, who were supposed to round up their ten-day trip to Jerusalem yesterday, checked out of their hotels very early only to be told on their arrival at the airport that there's no arrangement made for their return trip to Nigeria.

The pilgrims said when they contacted their travel agency, Tailormade Tours Limited, it explained that the problem was due to non remittance of funds to be used to make arrangements for their airlift by the Nigeria Christians Pilgrims Commission.

After staying at the airport for over seven hours, the management of the airport later asked the pilgrims to leave the airport.

One of the pilgrims, who spoke in anonymity, told our correspondent that they had to charter buses to take them round the town as they have no place to stay after checking out of their hotels.

Another pilgrim who gave his name as Chris Ogbolie, said the chairman of the Delta batch of the pilgrims, Bishop Goddowell Awomakpa and the Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture, Misan Ukubeyinje, who was also affected, later told them that the problem was not from the Delta State government but from the pilgrim's commission in Abuja.

He said the commissioner informed them that the state government made all necessary payments to the commission and was at a loss why remittances have not been made to ensure their airlift.

Ogbolie said the situation is quite sad as they have been left to be roaming the streets of Tel-Aviv aimlessly hoping that the matter would be resolved in the earliest time possible.

However, the pilgrims' commission has denied report that they have abandoned the pilgrims, noting that the flight was only delayed.

NCPC Director of Operation Henry Ejike said the delay was because the plane that supposed to convey them back had small issue and another one has been sent to transport them. He said the pilgrims would arrive in the country yesterday night by 8pm.

Rock Your Dreadslocks Like Asha And Ayanna

Twins and dreads. These aren’t the first things that come to mind when talking high-fashion. But Asha and Ayanna Diaz, budding designers hailing from the islands of Trinidad & Tobago, admit that is what intrigues people about their fashion line “Wadada Movement.”
They comment about their hair. .............
Ayanna: Through Rastafari we grew to embrace our natural essence. When I was eighteen, I decided I wanted to grow my locks. I saw myself going down a different path that I don’t think I should’ve been on. So for me, it was a complete lifestyle change. I was seeking Rastafari before [locking my hair]. I was asking questions...talking to people. When I turned eighteen, I knew this is what I wanted. So I cut all my straight hair off, and I started fresh.

Asha: I started growing my hair in September 2006. It was a time of transition for me. I just graduated from University and I was not sure of my position in the world. But in the end, the decision to lock my hair really wasn’t a decision at all. It was something deep down within me, knowing this is what I had to do and it was the way of life I should be living. It was a decision I was toiling with for a long time, especially since Ayanna had been growing hers many years beforehand.
So are you going to grow your dreads?

Family Of Late Co-Pilot Of Crashed Navy Helicopter Cries Out Over Neglect By The Federal Government.

The family of Lt. Adeyemi Sowole, the co-pilot of the Navy helicopter which crashed on Saturday in Bayelsa State have expressed disappointment that authorities have only reckoned with the dignitaries that died on the flight.

The co-pilot’s elder brother, Taiwo, said the government had not treated other victims as important as the two dignitaries – Gen. Andrew Azazi and Governor Patrick Yakowa – on board.

Taiwo, spoke with correspondents on Tuesday, at the family’s 28, Akintoye Street, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos home.

The ambience was sombre, as relations and friends sat around Adeyemi’s father, Solomon, in the family’s sitting room.

Words were few. But some of the sympathisers intermittently offered prayers to break the silence.
The deceased’s brother said, “All lives are equal. At this point, the right thing to do is for government to treat all the victims with respect and give them the same recognition.

“But it seems as if only the dignitaries on board the helicopter died. Adeyemi is also important.
“Adeyemi and a senior colleague lost their lives also. They are equally precious to their families. It was their responsibility to transport the dignitaries even though their own lives were on the line.”

Another family member, an aunt of the deceased, broke down in tears. She expressed sadness that while the news about the crash was circulating, authorities only focused on Yakowa and Azazi.

“It’s like the people in government see our son and his colleague as unimportant. Is it only Azazi and Yakowa that died in that crash? Why can’t they sympathise with us as well? The incident happened and all they were talking about were the two government officials on board,” the aunt, who declined to give her name, stated.

Taiwo described his brother as a humble man, who loved his job since he was young.
He said he never believed his brother would die doing what he loved best: flying.

Adeyemi was the fifth child of his parents’ seven children.

Taiwo said, “We called him ‘Yemi Olopa (policeman)’ because he always behaved like one. But when he got into the Nigerian Defence Academy, it was a dream come true for him.

“He loved what he did so much that he never expressed fear at any point in time about the nature of the job.”

Adeyemi graduated from the NDA in 2005 having studied Geography and trained as a pilot.
Taiwo said the last time he spoke with his brother was about 10 days before the crash.

Adeyemi, according to him, was very concerned about their father’s coming 80th birthday, which the family had scheduled for celebration in March 2013.

“Adeyemi insisted we should start planning for the birthday now. We discussed a lot of things, the hall to be used, the expenses and many other things. He said we would discuss it more when he comes home for Christmas,” Taiwo said.

Taiwo got the news about his brother’s death at 8pm on Saturday through one of his brothers.
“All we heard initially was that his helicopter crashed and we were praying at the time that it will turn out to be a hoax. We were hoping it would be a mistake because we thought Navy pilots only fly military personnel or the President and Vice-President,” he said.

Two of Adeyemi’s other siblings – Owolabi and Aderonke – have not come to terms with the fact that their brother was dead.

Owolabi explained that the last time Adeyemi called him, it was also to discuss their father’s coming birthday celebration.

He became suspicious when a friend of the deceased, who is close to the family, called him to request for his parents’ number.

“He called but did not say anything. He called my dad and mum and said he only wanted to find out how they were doing. He eventually called me again to break the news. I can’t believe I’m not going to see my brother again,” he said.

Aderonke, who was her brother’s “pet,” broke down in tears as she described the last time she spoke with him.

She said, “Anytime he was coming home, I would ask what he wanted to eat and he would say ‘you should know because you are my mum.’

“Few days before the incident, I asked if he was coming home for Christmas and he jokingly said ‘no’. I told him he dared not. He said he would come and I was looking forward to seeing him. I still wish all this noise about his death is just a rumour.”

Jim Iyke, Nadia Buari Throw Christmas Party For Abandoned, Orphaned Uganda Children .

Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke is doing everything possible to prove a point that the 'bad boy' tag he has had to endure with for a long time now is nothing but a gimmick in the make-believe world of Nollywood. Thanks to his present media manager that is working endlessly to also help prove that Jim Iyke in real life is different from the Jim Iyke in movies.

The multi-award winning star, entrepreneur, model and philanthropist, who is currently on a charity tour of Central Africa, recently visited the Naguru Reception Centre for Children, Kampala, Uganda. The centre is a home for Uganda's orphaned and abandoned children.

Jim Iyke was accompanied by Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buhari, and her mum. Unlike most children from such homes, who have very little to be cheerful about especially in a season such as Christmas, the Nollywood hard man together with his sexy counterpart from Accra, Ghana, shed their glamorous pre-occupations to put smile on the faces of the forlorn.
