The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, yesterday lauded Governor Ayodele Fayose for setting Ekiti on a solid rock in the education sector.

He said the governor was gradually reenacting efforts that will bring back the old glory when the state took the lead in education.

Sanusi, who was represented by former Governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, also commended Governor Fayose and the Vice Chancellor of the tate Ekiti university, Prof Samuel Oye Bandele for being detribalized in nature and for his vision in making the university a
beacon to others in the country.

Sanusi, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, said this in Ado Ekiti while being conferred with honourary degree in finance by Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

Others, who bagged similar academic laurel included: Governors of Gombe, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Oyo, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu.

The Emir of Kano expressed gratitude to the university for finding him and other awardees worthy of being bestowed with the academic titles.

“This is indeed a great honour to us and it will remain in history. I am one of the happiest in this room looking at the enviable records reeled out by Governor Fayose being the achievements Ekiti recorded under his leadership.

“I have seen the remarkable achievements Fayose is making in Ekiti and the affection he has for his people. I want to congratulate you. And I want to tell you that the Emir is Kano’s Ambassador in Ekiti varsit and I know that he will be willing to be of help to this university”, he said.

Fayose promised that his government “will continue to pamper our teachers, because when the foundation is strong, then the university level can be taken for granted.‎”

“Ekiti is a State that can supply 10 professors per family. This underscores the level of priority we place on education and we will ‎not keep our identity as the Fountain of Knowledge and this can only reflect if we take the lead in the sector”, he said.

‘Since I became born again, my friends have abandoned me’ – Majid Michel

The born again actor says friends have deserted him in recent times

For Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel , being born again has cost him a lot of friends.

The once racy Ghanaian actor shocked fans last year when he disclosed that he had become a born again Christian and was ready to let go of any worldly things, including taking up romantic and raunchy movie roles.

But it seems the actor is not having the best of times with his close friends as he revealed that most of them have deserted him after he made the decision to become born again.

According to him, his vision determines his friends and so, to be at a better position in serving God effectively, he has to make room for those who will help him attain that goal.

Majid further said that he also had to let go of some friends who are detractors and cannot help him achieve the goals he’s set for himself as a Christian.

While attributing his success as a good Christian to his friends, he said in an interview with Abusa FM Ghana, ‘If you’ve a plan or goal it determines the kinds of books you read, the kind of friends you hold and the kind of people you hang around with. Pascal and Timothy became close to me because we’ve like minds of doing the work of God and they’ve become my friends.

‘Even if we go to a hotel and I’ve a lady friend, I’m monitored by Pascal and he asks who that person is. Sometimes I can have friends who can entertain lady friends and that makes it very important to know which friends you can really move with,’ boasted Majid

Kemi Olunloyo's arrest made me happy -Seyi Law

Ace Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law, who once had a face-off with arrested controversial Nigerian Journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, who made a public post that Seyi Law's daughter is obese, has disclosed that he was very happy to hear that Kemi was arrested.

According to him, this will serve as deterrent to people who put out things on social media, to malign others. He went further to disclose that he will be suing an
Abuja-based blogger, Emmanuel Oko Ekpo Bricks for writing and trying to defame him for popularity.

The comedian who shared a photo he took with Kemi, wrote;

"PLEASE READ THROUGH.
I was one of the few who was happy when they heard Madam Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo was arrested as I believed it will serve as deterrent to others who will just put out things to malign others. I was also particularly happy that there is a cybercrime law as I was going to sue a blogger, Emmanuel Oko Ekpo Bricks in Abuja for writing and trying to defame my personality for popularity and even went as far as touring radio stations and granting video interviews claiming I was threatening his life despite the fact that I haven't spoken with him before up till now.

Then, I thought of the mistakes I have made in life that could have kept me behind bars if the victims have decided to pursue the case(s) and I decided to take the path of forgiveness. Madam Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo has never been entirely right and we must acknowledge that and instead of just going after the Pastor, we must ask that he should be kind enough to forgive.

I don't know if what Madam Kemi wrote about the Pastor was true, but what if it is not, we know what it means to have your character questioned, nonetheless we plead for his forgiveness. We can't force it and so we plead for his forgiveness.

I have read from people shouting hell on the Pastor and I just laughed as I know what some would have done if it was them. Please don't forget that we are Humans first before Pastoral call. I therefore, plead with whoever is behind the case against Madam Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo to forgive for Christ's sake.
Thanks."

I totally agree with you on Kemi Olunloyo's arrest -Georgina Onuoha tells Seyi Law

United States based Nollywood Actress, Georgina Onuoha, who was slammed by Kemi Olunloyo before her arrest, has disclosed that she agrees with Seyi Law on his post on being happy about Kemi's arrest.

Georgina who commented on Seyi Law's post wrote;

"georginaonuoha@seyilaw1; I totally agree with you. I was at the receiving end of her malicious acts.. I was bent on using everything in my Arsenal to make sure she never sees the light of the day again.

But my friends informed my mum of my plans and she was so mad at my actions and all she did was ask me a simple question " Gozie my child have you ever wronged anyone in the cause of your life?

Where are the moral virtues I taught you? Do you still say your our father who art in heaven each day? If you answer yes to my question child; why won't you forgive this woman? I that point, I had nothing but compassion and empathy for her.

Though we are humans, it is painful to watch someone tarnish your image, go as low as wishing your kids death and questioning your kids paternity.. with that being said.. I still believe in forgiveness. I've forgiven her and pray for her safe return home. I pray others will have same empathy towards her."

According to NAN

'A Special Offences Mobile Court in Oshodi, Lagos, on Saturday remanded 13 students of the University of Lagos in Kirikiri Prisons pending their bail application. The police arraigned the students on a two-count charge of unlawful invasion and disruption of activities.'

The accused, standing trial before Chief Magistrate P.E Nwaka, are alleged to have engaged in unlawful invasion of TVC Television in Lagos.

They all pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

The magistrate, who ordered that the accused be remanded, adjourned the case till April 6, for a determination of their bail.

The accused are: Femi Adeyeye, Toni Aina, Kodri Yaya, Asimi Oladime, Ismahim Olalekan, Segun Okesola, Abdulazeez Soneye, Idris Abogunloko, and Muyiwa Olaniyi.

Others are: Toheed Oladimeji, Joseph Akanni, Lukumon Olusegun, and Abiodun Agbeniyi.

The Police prosecuting counsel, CSP Effiong Asuquo, Officer in Charge of Legal Unit, State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 31.

He said that the accused engaged in a riotous invasion of TVC Television station, protesting an alleged rustication of a student.

According to him, the students also invaded the main campus of the University of Lagos, Akoka, and disrupted normal activities in the institution.

The prosecutor told the court that the invasion by the students was simply a ploy to stall the commencement of the institution’s semester examination scheduled to begin on April 3.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of section 168 (1) (d), and section 2 of the Criminal Law, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

IPOB declares May 30 sit-at-home day

The Indigenous People of Biafra has declared May 30 as the day all supporters of Biafra will sit at home without going anywhere or doing any work.

This, it said, would be to use the day to honour the Igbo who had lost their lives in sectarian killings in the country from 1945 to date.

It enjoined the Igbo and all those who believe in the Biafra ideology all over the country to shut down their businesses and stay at home.

In a press statement from the group’s Spokesperson, Emma Powerful, made available to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra State, IPOB said prayers would be held at designated places to mark the day.

Their statement read in part “The indigenous people of Biafra and its leadership worldwide would like to use this opportunity to inform Biafrans, friends of Biafra, lovers of freedom all over the world and humanity in general, to prepare for the historic annual Biafra Day of Remembrance 2017.

“On the 30th of May 2017, as it is now the tradition since our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu held the inaugural event at our Cenotaph in Enugu on 30 May 2014, we shall honour the gallant and brave Biafran soldiers that withstood the might of the British-sponsored coalition against Biafra between 1967 and 1970.

“Our heroes and heroines of the class of 1967-1970 who paid the ultimate price in defence of the dignity of the black race during this genocidal war against the people of Biafra, will be remembered and honoured in the finest traditions of IPOB.

“This annual event for 2017 has been designated a day of prayer, fasting, supplication and introspection.

The statement added “We shall also remember all the martyred freedom fighters (IPOB & MASSOB) that fell in pursuit of our liberation from the oppression and the tyranny of Nigerian Army, Police, Navy and DSS.

“We can never forget them and we must always honour them as long as there are Biafrans on the face of the earth. Every victim of unwarranted state-sponsored sectarian violence in Nigeria will also be remembered.

“All those that sacrificed their lives in the field of battle and protests that this present generation of Biafrans might live, will be honoured, including the victims of Asaba Massacre. They will be honoured with a two-minute silence immediately the clock strikes 12noon on the 30th of May 2017.

The statement noted that the May 30 ceremony would be the fourth consecutive times IPOB had held the anniversary.

It added “The very first event was held in Enugu on May 30th, 2014, Aba May 30th, 2015 and 30th May 2016 at Nkpor Anambra State where the Nigerian Army, Police, Navy and DSS committed unspeakable crimes against humanity that brought shame to Nigeria before the comity of civilised nations around the world.

“Therefore, we expect every man, woman and children to observe this great annual event by staying at home and not engaging in any business activity.

“There will be no movement in Biafraland, both human and vehicular. Biafraland will be shut down completely as a mark of dignified respect to those that sacrificed their lives for us.

“That is the least we can do to show them and Almighty God that this generation of IPOB and those to come will remain forever indebted to them that gave their lives to stop the elimination of the Biafra race from the face of the earth.

” Equally all victims of state-sponsored genocide starting from the Jos massacre of Biafran people in 1945 to the most recent Asaba massacre in 2017 at IPOB meeting by the Nigerian Army will all be honoured”.
