This is pure injustice,i interviewed a few relatives of Jacob and they are pointing accusing fingers a Former Justice Minister for making things worse for Jacob,Andoakaa  is married to Jacob's sister,even though he committed the said crime,we cannot continue to have people like these as our leaders,MKA and his brother should say what the know about these case now ,he is contesting for Governor and we will ask him when the time comes.The house Jacob robbed in Judges qtrs is Aondoakaa's Guest house,yes is that why he wants this young man dead,Jacob was not given enough opportunity to plead,the whole proceedings was controversial, will we sit down and allow Jacob die because he robbed a Politician's guest house.Lets think about this.

A Makurdi High Court on Tuesday sentenced, Jacob Atongo, a 100-level sociology student, Benue State University, to death by hanging for armed robbery.
In his judgment, Justice Adam Onum, held that he was satisfied with the confession of the accused to the charges and therefore, found him guilty.
Onum sentenced the accused to death by hanging, insisting that the sentence prescribed under the law for the offence must be followed.
Atongo conspired with two others and robbed Stephen Akuma and several others at gun point on June 26, 2012.

David Mark,Suswam And Others Mourn Prince Ogiri Ajene Former Deputy Governor Of Benue State.

Senate President, David Mark has lamented the death of former Deputy Governor of Benue State, Prince Ogiri Ajene, saying that the state has lost one of its forefront and dependable political leaders.

In a condolence message to the government and people of Benue State, Mark said he received the news of Ajene’s death with shock and disbelief.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, Mark noted that the late Ajene was an astute politician who had the capacity to mobilize followers.

Mark said, “Ajene was a leader in his own right . He was outspoken. He was a team player who carried his people along. We shall miss his political sagacity. We shall miss his humour. We shall miss his contributions”.

Meanwhile, prominent sons and daughters of Benue State including Governor Gabriel Suswam and other elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have paid tributes to the late Ajene while sympathisers have continued to throng the residence of the deceased to condole with his family.

Ajene was the deputy to the former Governor George Akume who is now the Senate minority leader between 1999 and 2007 before he left office to contest election at a local government level.

But our correspondent observed during his visit to the residence of the late Ajene in Kwarafa quarters in Makurdi yesterday that the place was filled to capacity with extended family members, political associates and sympathizers condoling with the family. A condolence register was opened for signing.

In his reaction to the demise of the former deputy governor, Suswam described the late Ajene as a philanthropist and community leader, a patriotic Nigerian and a true leader, as well as a trusted political ally.

In a condolence message issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Dr Cletus Akwaya, Suswam said, “the departure of Ajene has left a large vacuum which would be very difficult to fill in the political leadership of the state especially in the Benue South senatorial district.”

Speaking to LEADERSHIP yesterday, a PDP elder statesman and former minister of state for education, Dr. Jerry Agada, also described the death of Ajene as a big blow to the political theater of the state and prayed for the repose of his soul.

Chevron Nigeria Limited Donates Chest Clinic To Benue State University Teaching Hospital.

Chevron Nigeria Limited and its partners at the Agbami Oil fields has donated and commissioned a Chest Clinic at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH.

In his speech, the General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr. Deji Haastrup said that the clinic was meant to add value to the lives of the people and also contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the country.

Haastrup said that several other projects, mainly chest clinics and science laboratories constitute an aspect of the strategic intervention plan of the Agbami partners in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Commissioning the clinic, the State Governor, Dr. Gabriel Suswam who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Stephen Lawani commended the Agbami partners for the gesture. noting that the clinic would help in addressing the health needs of the people especially as Benue was rated high in the area of HIV/AIDS and TB prevalence.

Suswam also urged the people to see the project as an opportunity get adequate treatment by patronizing it to improve their health.

Responding, Chief Medical Director, BSUTH, Prof. Orkuga Malu thanked the Agbami Partners for citing the project in the state stressing that the clinic would help in combating rising cases diseases like Tuberculosis ,earlier the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health said,12,000 persons are infected with tuberculosis across the 23 local government area of Benue State.
This accounts for over 53 per cent of patients suffering from the disease in the entire North Central zone in the country.

Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange And Study Program Alumni Renovates Wadata Primary Health Centre In Makurdi Benue State.

The Alumni of the Kennedy Lugar-Youth Exchange and Study program (KL-YES), Benue State on the 22nd and 23rd , February2013, carried out a renovation project on the Primary Health Care Centre, Wadata.
The renovation of the clinic was carried out by the Alumni members namely Roseline Teghtegh, Mimidoo Shie, Halima Idris, YES selected students waiting to travel by August, kelvin Bula, Emmanuella Agada, Blessing Ori Ogbu, Emmanuel Musa and a few volunteers, Samson Gambe, Isaiah Adadu, Kator Azongu and Mike Oyi. The Alumni did the painting of the walls, fixing of the window nets and the ceiling. They also decorated the waiting hall with cardboard papers with hand written educative messages. The KL-YES Coordinator, Mrs Mmaasuur Gambe sincerely appreciates the US-Dept of State, IRIS, HE Gov. Gabriel Torwua Suswam, Chairman, Makurdi LG, Hon. Godwin Donko for their support.
