Justin Trudeau apologises to the LGBTQ community, compensate them with up to $85 million

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday, wiped away tears as he delivered an apology on behalf of the government for decades of discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit (LGBTQ2) community. The prime minister said he wants to ensure such oppression never happens again.

He said:


“Today, we offer a long overdue apology to all those whom we, the Government of Canada, wronged. We are sorry. We hope by acknowledging our failings we can make the crucial progress LGBTQ2 people in Canada deserve. We will continue to support each other in our fight for equality because we know that Canada gets stronger every single day that we choose to embrace diversity,”

The government also introduced a legislation to expunge the criminal records of those convicted of having consensual same-sex activity.

Canada decriminalized homosexuality in 1969, but records of the convictions of these people remained. The bill set aside 4 million Canadian dollars ($3.11 million) over the next two fiscal years to carry out the destruction of these criminal records.

Trudeau also announced that an agreement had been reached in a class-action lawsuit for 110 million Canadian dollars ($85.80 million) to be paid out to former civil servants and members of the military who lost their jobs because of their sexual orientation.

Girl jumps off 3rd floor of building because of heartbreak.

A tomboy with relationship troubles was injured after she jumped off the third floor of a building in Phuket Town, Thailand on Friday morning, May 5th.

This is the second case of its kind within two days – the first incident took place early morning yesterday when another lesbian nearly drowned in the sea at Saphan Hin

“Today's incident took place at Sarita Mansion in the Poonpon area at about 11am. The 21-year-old tomboy, ‘Rat’, was sitting at the edge of the roof of the apartment building. Rescue workers tried to persuade her not to jump, while other team members rushed to set up an air mattress and arranged for a cable car to get up there,” Phuket City Police Superintendent Komol Osiri told Phuket Gazette reporters.

Rat reportedly refused to listen to anyone and lowered herself to hang off the edge instead.

“She held on for about three minutes and then let go, hitting her head on an air-con unit and falling to the ground unconscious. She was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital,” he added.

Sarita Mansion staff told police that she had been living at the apartment for about one month and had had an argument with her girlfriend at about 3am this morning. Her girlfriend had then left for work.

“She wrote a letter before going up to the roof. The letter stated that Rat was done with the relationship. However, we will question her girlfriend first before closing the case,” said the superintendent.

53 youths arrested at Zaria gay wedding docked

The Police on Wednesday arraigned 53 persons before a Magistrates’ Court in Chediya-Zaria, Kaduna State who were allegedly arrested during a gay marriage.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Mannir Nasir said the accused were arrested on April 15 at Zaria Motel and were being charged for conspiracy, unlawful assembly and belonging to a gang of unlawful society.

He said the offences contravened Sections 97, 100 and 197(a) of Criminal Procedure Code [CPC].

“On April 15, 2017 at about 2100 hours a team of policemen led by DSP Muhammad Lawal-Mashi arrested and brought to police station 53 persons.

“The arrested persons included; Jibril Abdullahi, Sagir Abubakar, Anas Mohammed, Mustapha Ababukar, Musa Ibrahim and Suleiman Usman among others, all of various addresses.

“Information reached the police that these group of persons conspired to celebrate a gay marriage at Zaria Motel between one Faruk and Sanusi both at large,” the prosecutor said.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges, and their counsel, Yunusa Umar asked the court to release them on bail in line with sections 35 (4) and 36 (5) of the Constitution.

Umar lamented that the accused persons were detained in police custody for more than 24 hours contrary to the provisions of section 341 of CPC.

He told the court that most of the accused persons were students in their tender age.

The Chief Magistrate, Auwal Musa-Aliyu, granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N500,000 each, with one surety each in the like sum, who must be a blood relation to the accused.

He ordered that each surety must present two passport size photographs, valid identity card, bank account number, letter of credence from a traditional ruler, a 2015 utility bill and a valid GSM number.

The Chief Magistrate adjoined the case till May 8, for further hearing. (NAN)

The woman identified as Dandara dos Santos was dragged from her home and dumped in a wheelbarrow before being rolled to a back alley and beaten to death amid cheers and laughter in Brazil.
The woman 42, could be seen crying on the floor while being kicked, punched and planked by residents of Fortaleza, Ceara state, Brazil.

Horrific footage of the incident sparked outrage after being released by police last Friday to help find the alleged killers.
She begged the savage attackers to spare her life but they simply lifted her into a wheelbarrow and rolled her away to a back alley where she was beaten to death.
Police Inspector Damasceno who is investigating the death said: “Six people have been identified and the video has helped with that.

“The footage was first circulated among LGBT groups which helped that process.
“The police began circulating the clip and we arrived at the house of two of the people identified but they fled.
“The investigation is already well advanced and we are going after the killers.”
The attack on February 15 is one of the latest in a sickening trend in Brazil for targeting transsexuals and transvestites. According to Brazil’s Trans Network, Dandara was the fifth to be murdered last month.

While the boy, names withheld, had claimed to have been raped at their 1000 Government Housing Estate residence, the father was said to have dismissed his story leading to the inflicting of the bodily injuries.

The 10 year old victim whose father allegedly inserted hot electric heater into his anus for being gay It was further gathered that the civil servant recently chained one of his daughters named Mama for insulting her stepmother in the estate.

A top government official, who pleaded anonymity, said the director had been arrested. Efforts to confirm the incident from the Police Public Relations Officer of Borno State Command, Mr. Victor Isuku proved abortive. However, some residents told Saturday Vanguard  that the estate was recording growing rate of homosexual activities.
