WE PUT OUR SCHOOL FEES, PROJECT MONEY INTO MMM - VARSITY STUDENTS LAMENT

The amount I invested in the MMM scheme was N100,000. I was expecting my 30 per cent profit when I got the news that our accounts have been suspended. It was a bitter news. Being a student, the fund was raised to pay my school fees and to meet other basic needs. It is a great risk but many students enrolled in the scheme to make profit and to live a better life. If MMM crashes, I would accept it as my fate. I will have to look for other ways to source my school fees. There is nothing I can do. I will only learn from it and not engage in such a scheme again.

— Ozadhe Russell, Civil Engineering department, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso

A friend introduced me to participate in the MMM scheme. Being a lucrative one, I decided to benefit too, having heard of the success stories. I invested N40, 000 in the scheme. The money is for my final year project and my feeding allowance. It will be very painful if MMM crashes. Considering my investment, it will be a big loss for me. My plan was to use the profits from the scheme to finance my final year project and to meet other needs. I am seriously praying that the suspension should be lifted so I can reclaim my funds.

— Faniyi Inumidun, Accounting department, AAUA

A friend in my department started talking about MMM excitedly. He said MMM was a new online business platform that credits you with 30 percent interest of your payment in 30 days. I said wow! I never took interest in it until the need to tackle certain needs arose.

On Tuesday when the news that the MMM had been suspended came in, I was expecting bank alert of roughly N500,000. I raised the fund to participate in the scheme from my pocket money. If the scheme crashes, it will be a big loss to me. Just last week, I lost to an online business called ‘coin fever,’ it all happened within minutes. I have always known that MMM would crash soon. If it crashes, it will hurt me but life goes on. I participated in the scheme despite the risks to upgrade my life and to beat the current economy recession. There are so many financial needs to meet up with such as paying my school fees, buying text books and other learning materials as well as other dues in the school.

— Chukwunyere Chimobi, Electrical Electronics, FUTOThe latest investment I made in MMM was N100,000, but in total, I invested over N250,000 in the scheme. I got money to invest in MMM from other businesses that I run as a student. I didn’t have any special plan for the money I would make from MMM. With the profit, I would upgrade my lifestyle and improve my life. I had always known that it would crash one day as it is not a sustainable scheme. But I always prayed that my money doesn’t get stuck when it eventually crashes. I will feel the impact of the loss if it crashes. MMM is not my only business. I do other things that fetch me money.

— Martin Mundus Unakwe, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, FUTO, Owerri

A friend of mine told me to join MMM when I told him I needed some money. I decided to try my luck with the money. When I saw many students making money, I joined the trend. I actually participated in the scheme because I needed to meet up with some basic school needs. For example, when I offered to provide “help” of N50,000, in the following month, I collected N75,000, with a gain of N25,000 without working or stressing myself.

I basically invested in it because of the high return on investment. In this period of recession, it became a way out. I will say I belong to the lucky category of investors. I got all my money back last month before the accounts were frozen; I decided not to participate in it again because I was scared.

It is hard to believe that the money of other participants is going to be paid back. I hope and pray they lift the ban in January as they promised.

— Ifediora Sylvia, Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State

Someone introduced me to MMM and he talked excitedly about it. I invested N30,000 in the MMM business. The money was what I made from a project I did for someone. Being a final year student, I am already preparing for graduation. I figured out that before my NYSC, there are things I could do if I have some cash. It will be painful if the scheme crashes Against an imminent crash, which I have been praying against, I will move on with life. This is because, from the outset, I understood the risk involved.Life is all about risk.

MMM Took N18bn From About 3 Million Nigerians-NDIC

mmm

Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has said about three million Nigerians lost N18bn in the Phonzi scheme Mavrodi Mundial Movement, popularly called MMM.

The Managing Director of the Corporation, Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim, stated while speaking at the ongoing 38th Kaduna International Trade Fair on Thursday.
Represented by the NDIC Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs, Alhaji Hadi Suleiman, Ibrahim lamented that despite repeated warnings by Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the corporation, many Nigerians still patronise MMM.

He said, "The Phonzi scheme is the phenomenon of illegal fund managers, popularly called ‘Wonder Banks’ which have continued to defraud unsuspecting members of the public of their hard earned money. This phenomenon has been a source of concern because despite our repeated warnings over the years, some members of the public have continued to fall victims of their fraudulent practices.

“We would like to reiterate the fact that these fund managers are illegal as they are neither licences by the CBN to take deposits from members of the public nor are those who patronise them covered by the NDIC deposit insurance scheme."

If you patronize a scheme not covered by NDIC, once there is trouble you're on your own.

MMM users are still unsettled days after the supposed return of the scheme,

MMM Nigeria which has well over 3million Nigerians in its talons said it has removed all requests for payment on the system.

A report in The Cable said that the scheme in a statement on Tuesday explained that “although some people called it ‘cancelled’, the truth of the matter is that it was only removed not cancelled.

“Please note that the GH orders were not cancelled because if cancelled, you will see it at the right-hand side as deleted. It was removed because of the following reasons:

“There is an ongoing upgrade because programmers are always working on the MMM system every day so the promised New Model can be unveiled as soon as possible.

“More so, many participants have formed the habit of cancelling their GH orders and creating new GH orders hoping they will be matched earlier.

“There is no need for that anyway but to forestall that, the created GH orders were removed and that is why you can’t create new GH orders because the old GH orders have not been cancelled but removed and withdrawal is still pending.”

The scheme said there was no need for participants to panic, maintaining that it would pay those who had requested for their monies.
However, a cross section of participants interviewed in Abuja either said that the scheme only made half or no payment.

Timothy Oshi who said he was to be paid a day before the scheme was shut down in December disclosed that he learnt some people received little payments but he was yet to be matched for payment.

“At the moment, I have not been matched, and last year we were told that as the scheme resumes on January 14, they will be the ones to release those who are ready to be matched even if you are due for payment,” Mr. Oshi said.

Another participant, Pascal Onuarah, who provided help in November and asked for help on January 13, said he was matched with four persons but only two paid.

“I was only paid N4000 and N10,000, leaving two failed transactions waiting to be rematched,” Mr. Onuarah said.

A top guider of the scheme, Chinwe Ofoma, while explaining the reason for delayed payment said that the number of people requesting for payment was higher than the number providing help.

“They have started matching people, but there will be delay in payment especially for those that pledged huge amount of money. There should be enough money in the system before everybody can get paid. However, I’m sure we will all get paid”, Ms. Ofoma added.

MMM earlier said it was setting a limit on daily withdrawals, in order to control panic withdrawals.

In the message on its site, MMM said it “will only pay a certain amount per day”.

Citing panic withdrawals as a reason for delayed payment, MMM Nigeria called on the media to “leave the scheme alone”.

“As the System is socially oriented, we will make paybacks to the poor and the economically disadvantaged in the first place: it means to the members with small PH amounts.

“The richer can wait. Moreover, we’ve warned you repeatedly to only provide help with amounts that are not critical for you. Therefore, if these large amounts are not critical for them (the richer), they can wait a few days. No need to be tragic about it.

“This is the way it’s going to be. I’d like again to call on the authorities and the mass media: Please, leave us alone! Have mercy on people.”

MMM, Nigeria’s No 1 Ponzi Scheme which had earlier placed a one-month ban on all withdrawals from December 13, 2016, upon resumption, introduced the use of bitcoins as part of its payment options.
Nigerians however have been warned against investing in digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Swisscoin and OneCoin.

The Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, advised the public to exercise extreme caution with regard to digital currencies as a vehicle of investments.

Another top guider of the Scheme, Ikechukwu Ofomo, disclosed that with the use of Bitcoin, there will be no third party or intermediary such as banks. Meaning that all transactions will be strictly online with no bank charges.

“By implication, you can be paired with someone in Egypt for payment using Bitcoins,” Mr. Ofomo added.

CBN alerts Nigerians on dangers of Bitcoin, MMM, others

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has advised Nigerians against the use of virtual currencies, including bitcoin, ripples, litecoin.

Recall that the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, issued a similar warning last week.

The warnings came on the heels of announcement by Mavrodi Mondial Movement, MMM, that its operations will now be via digital currency.

Other ponzi schemes are asking their subscribers to start investing with digital currency.

In a statement yesterday, CBN said virtual currencies are largely used in terrorism financing and money laundering, considering the anonymity of virtual transactions.

The statement reads:“The attention of bank and other financial institutions is hereby drawn to the above risks and you are required to take the following actions pending substantive regulation or decision by the CBN.

“Ensure that you do not use, hold, trade and/or transact in any way in virtual currencies. Ensure that existing customers that are virtual currency exchangers have effective capital AML/CFT controls that enable them to comply with customer identification, verification and transfer, monitoring requirements.

“Where banks or other financial institutions are not satisfied with the controls put in place by the virtual currency exchanger/customers, the relationship should be discontinued immediately.

“Any suspicious transactions by these customers should immediately be reported to the Nigerian Finance Intellignece Unit (NFIU).

“The CBN reiterates that VCs such as bitcoin, ripples, monero, litecoin, dogecion, onecoin, etc., and similar products are not legal tenders in Nigeria.

“Thus, any bank or institution that transacts in such businesses does so at its own risk.”

Bitcoin was the best performing currency of the year 2016. It has appreciated from four cents in 2010 to over $1,000 in 2017.

Meanwhile, MMM may be considering increase in interest rate to lure more participants to join the scheme.

MMM Nigeria explains why Get Help order was removed

Popular Ponzi money doubling scheme, Mavrodi Mondial Movement, MMM, has explained why the Get Help Order, GH, was removed from its site.

Recall that the Ponzi scheme had in December suspended its operation with the promise to resume on January 14, 2017.

Despite resuming a day ahead of its scheduled resumption date, some participants have been unable to do withdrawal and apply for help.

Some participants can’t access the Get Help Order on their dashboard, while others claim they can.

Explaining the reason for the missing Get Help Order on the dash board of some of its participants, MMM, in a message on its website said the GH button was not cancelled but was only removed due to system upgrade.

The message reads, “Many participants woke up this morning to see that their Get Help (GH) orders have been removed completely from their PO’s Dashboard. Though some people called it canceled but the truth of the matter is that it was only removed not canceled. Please note that the GH orders were not cancelled because if cancelled, you will see it at the right hand side as deleted. It was removed because of the following reasons:

“There is an ongoing upgrade because programmers are always working on the MMM system every day so the promised New Model can be unveiled as soon as possible. You might notice earlier this morning, the login Captcha was showing alphanumeric as against the numbers until it restored to numbers later today.

“Moreso, many participants have formed the habit of cancelling their GH orders and creating new GH orders hoping they will be matched earlier. There is no need for that anyway but to forestall that, the created GH orders were removed and that is why you can’t create new GH orders because the old GH orders have not been cancelled but removed and withdrawal is still pending.

“There is no cause for any alarm over the removed GH orders, if you check your Mavro, you will notice the value of the removed GH order has been restored and had also increased though it is still showing pending withdrawal.

“There have been reports of “removed GH orders” in some POs. The removed GH orders are mostly GH orders created on Friday/Saturday.

“There is no cause for any alarm. The value of the removed GH order has been restored and increased though showing pending withdrawal.

“The removal of the GH orders and other changes/errors you might notice are indications that the#NewModel is taking shape gradually.

“Tuesday (Mavro growing day), a lot of participants created GH orders thus the message “GH amount exceeds allowed daily maximum.

“Please await further instructions either to create a new GH order or if it will be automatically restored and matched.

“We crave your indulgence, patience & understanding at this period. We are doing our best to have these issues/upgrades resolved ASAP.

“Let’s be patient while the Administrators of MMM do their best to restore the confidence we have in the system.”

Couple who invested over N2m in MMM, others lament

Mavrodians, the name of account holders in MMM Nigeria, are still unable to get paid a return on their investment more than 96 hours after the Ponzi scheme returned.

Quoting some MMM participants reporters said that although they were able to request for their money, they have not been paid as the system is still frozen, just as it was in December 2016.

Kolade Ogunwande, who said he put in N100,000 in November 2016, and referred two other people to the scheme, said his money had appreciated to N214,000 as of Friday, so he immediately request for it. “They have not paid me anything, but they said we should be wait patiently to be matched with participants willing to invest in MMM.

I have no choice than to be optimistic,” he told TheCable. Lara Makanjuola, who also invested N100,000 in the scheme, said she was expecting N186,000, but she had not been able to request for her money. She said anytime she requested to get help, the website said “mavros are not available for withdrawal”.

“I was supposed to collect my money two days to when accounts got frozen, but the person I was matched with didn’t pay.”

An Abuja-based couple, who requested not to be named, invested over N2 million in the scheme; they have also not been able to withdraw their money. As of Monday, when any participant sought to withdraw, the website put up a message that linked them to its previous freeze message, below: “As usual, in the New Year season the System is experiencing heavy workload.

Moreover, it has to deal with the constant frenzy provoked by the authorities in the mass media. “The things are still going well; the participants feel calm; everyone gets paid – as you can see, there haven’t been any payment delays or other problems yet – but!.. it is better to avoid taking risk.: (Moreover, there are almost three weeks left to the New Year).

“Hence, on the basis of the above mentioned, from now on all confirmed Mavro will be frozen for a month. The reason for this measure is evident. We need to prevent any problems during the New Year season, and then, when everything calms down, this measure will be cancelled.”

Mavrodians, as MMM participants are called, are optimistic that their pay will come through, considering, the scheme’s last message of “hope for the poor”.

In the message, MMM said it “will only pay a certain amount per day”. “Please, be prepared to wait for a couple of days. We are certain things will then calm down, and the System operation will return to normal,” it said.

Apostle Suleiman of OFM has sacked a pastor for participating in Ponzi scheme MMM

Pastor Joseph Aiyedun, who is the head in one of the branches of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) worldwide has been expelled from the ministry.

The pastor who was in charge of one of the OFM branches in Abia state, was removed because he was participating in the Mavrodi Mondial Movement (MMM), a Ponzi scheme.

In a statement signed by Pastor David Apelorioye, the head of admin at OFM the scheme was satanic and the pastor was subsequently removed.
In November 2016, founder and president of the OFM, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, at a church service had warned members of his congregation not to join MMM, calling it 'demonic'.

The statement from the church sacking Pastor Aiyedun reads thus: "The management of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide is using this medium to react to a news making the rounds on the social media regarding one of his pastors who used the ministry's name to register for the MMM scheme.

"Ordinarily, the church would not have reacted to the story because of falsehoods being published regularly by some blogs and news websites whose credibility are questionable.

"But after a thorough investigation by the church authority, it was established that one of our branch pastors in Aba, Pastor Joseph Aiyedun, indeed participated in the scheme."

According to Linda Ikeji blog, the statement also reveals that thorough investigation was done and when it was discovered that he used the name of the church to register for MMM, he was sacked.

They said that the ministry's image was rubbished in the public eye. They also said that if he had registered for the scheme in his personal name, he might not have been expelled, but because he used the ministry's name for the scheme, he was asked to go.

"The church authority decided to expel Pastor Aiyedun not because he registered for the ponzi scheme but because he involved the ministry's name in the satanic adventure.

"And we discovered that he was able to use the ministry's name because he had access to the account of his branch which itself is against the church's guidelines and a fraud likely to have been carried out in connivance with the branch's account department. We are still investigating further to unravel the whole activities.

"Of the OFM's 200 churches in Nigeria alone and its 800 branches in 51 nations of the world, it is possible for any of the pastors to go astray and be corrected.

"In fact, we discovered that Pastor Aiyedun, including some other members of OFM, did the scheme before our father, Apostle Johnson Suleman made the warning last year against MMM, but Pastor Aiyedun was fired because he did it with the ministry's name as the OFM rules forbid any of its pastors access to the account except people in the account department."

Lastly, it was revealed that the church paid him one year's salary to enable him look after his family while he searched for another source of income.

Meanwhile, following news of the new mode of payment for those participating in the Mavrodi Mondial Movement (MMM), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), warned the general public against investing in crypto currencies, such as Swisscoin, OneCoin, Bitcoin and such other virtual or digital currencies.

Sigh of relief as MMM Nigeria is back.

Participants in the Mavrodi Mondial Movement (MMM) on Friday heaved a sigh of relief as the money-spinning venture promoters announced their resumption after one month break that left them in suspense.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that MMM promoters, in a message to the participants on its portal, reassured them that it was in line with its promise to resume after a month.

The participants have flooded social media with messages depicting high hopes as the promoters of the ponzi scheme re-opened.

In the MMM message, participants are told that “the holidays are over and restrictions on accounts is lifted and reopened for transactions.

“The holidays are over, and we’re now open. Just as promised. You might have already noticed that we always stick to our promises,’’ the message said.

The message displayed on the pages of all participants of the scheme cheered its members as it reopened a day earlier than promised.

According to the message, panic will reign in the first few days after the re-opening of the system but the ponzi scheme promises to make gradual paybacks by setting internal output limits to only pay a certain amount to participants per day.

A message obtained from the dashboard of a participant reads: “Actually we promised to be open on Jan. 14, but we’re open now, Jan. 13, as you can see, which is a day earlier. Well, I hope the members of the system will forgive us for that.

“It’s related to the hysteria raised by the authorities and the mass media around MMM.

“By joining forces, they’ve managed to nearly give the members of the system a heart attack and have frightened them out of their wits.

“Poor souls don’t know what to expect. Will we open again or not?

“This is why we’ve decided, considering the situation, to reach out to the members, reassure and cheer them up by opening a little earlier.

“After all, Together We Can Change The World!’’

The message then said: “Here we go. As of this notice, MMM resumes its usual operation. You can now create your Get Help (GH)-requests.

“However, it’s obvious that panic will reign in the first few days after the re-opening of the System. We’re likely to be deluged by GH-requests.

“Therefore, we’re going to make gradual paybacks by setting internal output limits. In other words, we will only pay a certain amount per day.

“Please, be prepared to wait for a couple of days. We are certain things will then calm down, and the system operation will return to normal.

“We’re the ones setting the limits, so it’s completely under our control, and we are not expecting any emergencies in principle. Have no fear and go on about your business as usual’’.

It added: “As the system is socially oriented, we will make paybacks to the poor and the economically disadvantaged in the first place: it means to the members with small PH amounts.

“The richer can wait. Moreover, we’ve warned you repeatedly to only provide help with amounts that are not critical for you.

“Therefore, if these large amounts are not critical for them (the richer), they can wait a few days. No need to be tragic about it.

MMM Nigeria issues instructions to subscribers ahead resumption

On preparation for its expected return on January 14, the Ponzi scheme Mavordi Mondial Movement (MMM) promoters have issued instructions to its participants whose accounts were frozen, to perform “Promo Tasks: A New Tool for MMM Community Development.”

The MMM message to subscribers said the tasks, which should be done both online and offline, will promote the scheme and drive “traffic and participation” by the time the restriction on the account is lifted.

“Being an MMM member implies not only opportunities, but also a responsibility for the state and development of the MMM Community”, the message said.

The information raises hopes of the almost three million Nigerians who invested in the scheme, following the ban on withdrawals on December 3, 2016.

On January 2, the scheme on its official Twitter handle, @MMMNigeriaHelp disclosed that participants’ accounts will be unfrozen on January 14.

Some of the participants have taken to social media to give reasons why the scheme should return.

"I can't wait to continue in January 2017'- Alleged owner of MMM Nigeria, Pastor Mbanefo speaks out

Pastor Ernest Chigozie Mbanefo, the alleged brain behind MMM in Nigeria has finally responded to claims that he owns the scheme.

Here's a statement he just released via his blog:

On the 2nd of December 2016, majority of Nigeria media houses posted unfounded, unverified, misleading articles about me being the owner/founder of MMM Nigeria.

I found the articles to be hilarious and wish to use this opportunity and platform to declare the following

The Facts
I am neither the Owner nor the founder of MMM Nigeria.
I do not have any contact or acquaintance with the owner(s) or Founder(s) of MMM Nigeria.
I did not introduce MMM to Nigeria, but am glad it came.
I am an Ordinary Participant like the over 2 million Nigerians who are participants of MMM Nigeria.
I registered to join MMM Nigeria on the 2nd of June 2016 (see image for proof below).

I registered to be a guider (knowledgeable participants), and became a guider after fulfilling the requirements of the course.
I registered and own the domain mmm-nigeria.net which expires on the 7th of June 2019 (could be extended).
I make financial contributions (provide help) to the MMM Nigeria community like everyone else and accept all the benefits and risks like everyone else. On the 13th of October 2016, i provided help of N3,000,000.

Message to Nigerian Media/Journalists - You could have contacted me before writing all you wrote on the 2nd of December 2016.

I do hereby declare yet again that I am neither the owner, nor the founder of MMM Nigeria, rather I am an ordinary participant with a super creative mind.

I am also a super guider (not even in the top 100) committed to helping tens of thousands of participants in the community with solution to their operational problems, including logging issue, account blocking, lifting of both temporary moratorium and removal of Google authenticator, to mention a few.
Let me also say this; MMM by itself and left alone will run smoothly until Jesus Christ comes, but the negative attacks by the media creates unnecessary bias and fear in the minds of innocent and responsible participants, thereby breaking the organized, well thought out operational structure of any targeted MMM community, which inevitably leads to a temporary or in some cases permanent damage.
Honestly speaking, no bank anywhere in the world can survive the nature of attacks thrown at MMM anywhere. Throw 10 percent of these attacks at any bank and see how the dawn of the next morning of the next working day will record chaos at the front gate, with thousands of account holders demanding to withdraw all their money.
Even then the respective bank will have to manage the chaos and expectation of its disgruntled customers, by creating and presenting a structured approach toward any withdrawals. So the current freeze in place in MMM Nigeria is a structured approach towards maintaining a healthy community.
I am a proud participant of MMM Nigeria and cannot wait to continue in January 2017
Since I joined MMM Nigeria, like the over two million Nigerians who are participants, I have benefited a lot from this divine arrangement. I am not moved of fazed by what the media say and how they have chosen to attack and destroy MMM Nigeria, my question is this;
How possible is it that any organization, company, project or business will survive the avalanche of attacks loaded with lies that MMM in any country suffers.
MMM is not a Pyramid Scheme
MMM is not a Ponzi Scheme
MMM is a Mutual Aid Fund
Long Live MMM Nigeria
Long Live MMM Global
Long Live federal Republic of Nigeria
Together we change the world.
