Federal Government opens 2017 N-Power application

What is N-Power? N-Power is a job creation and empowerment programme of the National Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The N-Power programme is for young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35.

In 2016, through N-Power, the Federal Government engaged and deployed 200,000 young Nigerians in public primary schools, primary healthcare centres and in agriculture development project centres in all the Local Government Areas in Nigeria. This has been the largest post-tertiary engagement of human resources in Africa. This year, the N-Power Volunteer Corps is enlisting 300,000 more volunteers to bring the number to the promised 500,000 N-Power Volunteers.

GOALS

•              To intervene and directly improve the livelihood of a critical mass of young unemployed Nigerians.

•              To develop a qualitative system for the transfer of employability, entrepreneurial and technical skills.

•              To create an ecosystem of solutions for ailing public services and government diversificationpolicies.

•              To develop and enhance Nigeria’s

knowledge economy.

Two Categories Of  N-Power

At this time, the June 2017 application is NOT open to the Non-Graduate Category.

N-Power Volunteer Corps

The N-Power Volunteer Corps is the post-tertiary engagement initiative for Nigerians between 18 and 35. It is a paid  volunteering  programme of a 2-year duration. The graduates will undertake their primary tasks in identified public services within their proximate communities.

All N-Power Volunteers are entitled to computing devices that will con- tain information necessary for their specific engagement, as well as in- formation for their continuous train- ing and development.

1.                                                                                       N-Power Teach

N-Power Teach Volunteers will help improve basic education delivery in Nigeria. N-Power Teach Volunteers will be deployed as teacher assis- tants in primary schools around Nigeria. They will not replace the current teachers, but will work as support teachers across Nigeria, assisting with teaching, school man- agement and other functions within the schools. Where possible, they will also assist in taking basic ed- ucation to children in marginalised communities.

1a.      N-Power Teach

            (STEM)

N-Power Teach (STEM) is a component of the N-Power Teach programme. Through this programme, young graduates with the skills and interest in computer programming and other related fields will assist in the implementation of the Federal Government’s STEM Programme for primary and secondary schools.

2.        N-Power Health

N-Power Health Volunteers will help improve and promote preventive healthcare in their communities to vulnerable members of the society including pregnant women and children and to families and individuals.

3.        N-Power Agro

N-Power Agro Volunteers will provide advisory services to farmers across the country. They will disseminate the knowledge that has been aggregated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the area of extension services. They will also gather data of Nigeria’s agriculture assets.

4.        N-Power Tax

The Federal Government seeks to encourage non-compliant and partially compliant taxpayers to come clean and declare and pay their appropriate tax due to the government.

A minimum of 7,500 N-Power  volunteers will be selected to work as Community Tax Liaison Officers to work in their states of residence with the state’s tax authorities.

June 2017 Application

The N-Power application portal will open at 11.30 pm on June 13th 2017, to all eligible Nigerians and close July 13^th, 2017.  Applicants are to note that the application process is completely free and there is no application fee. Applicants are requested to read and understand all relevant information prior to applying. Applicants should note the following steps: 

1-    Visit www.npower.gov.ng. Read up about the different N-Power categories so that you understand the category that suits you best.

2 Before you go on to apply, ensure you have a printout or accurate details of your Bank Verification Number or BVN and a recent passport photograph.

3       Then click on “Apply for N-Power Volunteer Corps”.

Benue govt to get N13.7bn on FG empowerment programme

The social Investment Program of the Federal Government has allocated over N13.7 billion to Benue State under the Social Investment Programme.

The programme has also engaged 14,000 indigenes of Benue State under the Federal Government N-Programme and Home Grown Food Programme.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Samuel Ortom on Social Investment Programme, Honourable Terhide Utaan disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in his office in Makurdi.

The SSA further said that 9, 830 persons of the figure were engaged under N-program while 4,150 absorbed under Home Grown Food Programme.

Utaan explained   that the N-Power programme targets unemployed graduate youths who have been already recruited to teach in public primary schools across the state earning N30,000, adding that the home grown feeding, which is facilitated by the London School of Hygiene is meant to improve on the nutrition of school pupils across the state.

“There is also, the market programme, which aims to improve the status of the lowest cadre of market women who are supposed to be given between N10,000 to N100,000 through cooperative societies to inject into their business. We have the conditional cash transfer meant for the poorest and vulnerable persons to be given N5,000. This programme is ongoing in nine local government areas of the State.

“There are lots of misunderstanding in the implementation of the programme. People are just engaged in mischief. We do not handle any money. It comes directly from the Federal Government through the office of the Vice President,” Utaan said.

One of the good achievement of this government is the Npower program that has provided semi-employment to most hopeless unemployed Nigeria graduates.
At least it has 
1. saved many guys life(you have where you wake up and go to).
2. Reduced the number of scammers(most guys are engage now so they don't patronise silly job post).
3. Saved many from hopeless employers make i no start mention organizations.

BUT THEN WHY DO I NEED TO WITHDRAW MY APPLICATION?
Ahhh hmmmmm my padi dem..
The Npower will I say tried but flop in many areas like;
1. Dose who went for the Npower verification and at the end claimed they did not show up.
2. Dose that were verified and not receiving the stipend and they claimed they gave invalid information ( see matter..u wan kw me pass me ni).
3. They don't reply mail, text or pick calls. 
4. They allow all applicants both the disqualified and qualified to still login.
5. You get update even after being disqualified.
I happened to be among the unlucky ones that they claimed submitted invalid information in which we have updated our profile times without number. 
Plus the initial gragra activities like going to the school to teach but still hoping on hopeless hope.

BUT CANT YOU JUST KEEP CALM AND WAIT..YOU NOT THE ONLY ONE AND THEY WILL SURELY PAY YOU.
Storyyy....with all the different news everyday..am even afraid..the fear of tomorrow the fear that when i apply for other jobs will I be shortlisted? Example is the FCSC rumor that no Npower participants was or will be shortlisted.. Abeg Oga VP I no fit shout..am not getting the stipends and am not getting shortlist.

FG commences payment of N30,000 monthly stipends to N-Power beneficiaries

The Federal Government has commenced the payment of the N30, 000 monthly stipends for beneficiaries of the N-Power scheme -the job creation programme of the Buhari presidency.



The N-Power programme is designed to engage the teeming and massive numbers of unemployed Nigerian graduates from tertiary institutions across the country.

The Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Mr Laolu Akande, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, stating that `` all successfully verified beneficiaries who have provided bank accounts are being processed for payment.’’

According to the presidential media aide, ``some beneficiaries will receive their first stipends today -December 30.’’

Mr Akande said the process of payment would continue after the New Year Public holiday, urging beneficiaries of subsequent batch of the scheme to take seriously their virtual training.

``Already, close to 50% of the 200,000 unemployed graduates selected in the first batch of N-Power job program have now been verified and being processed for December stipends' payment.

``This process will continue and some will receive their stipends after the New Year public holiday, starting from Tuesday, 3rd of January. 

`` N-Power Volunteer Corps members are encouraged to take their virtual training seriously over this period,’’ Mr Akande said.

Mr Laolu also encouraged states who had yet to conclude the physical verification process to do so, ``as that would enable the N-Power beneficiaries in those states to draw from its benefits & empowerment offers.’’

The unemployed graduates selected for the N-POWER programme are given assignments that will help to address issues in schools, hospitals and other areas in communities across the country.

A total of 150,000 out of the 200,000 selected in the first phase of the scheme would be deployed as support teachers to help address shortage of teachers in schools at the basic and secondary levels.
Another 30, 000 graduates would work as extension workers in various communities which will expectedly aid the government’s diversification agenda.

In strengthening community health services in line with the agenda of the Buhari administration, 20,000 graduates would be deployed as community health aides, under the first phase of the programme.

The Federal Government is overseeing the programme by way of providing the funding but the project is going to be implemented in the states by the state governments.

Hundreds Of Candidates Disqualified From N-Power Jobs

A total number of 4,136 candidates were successful in the just concluded physical verification exercise for the Federal Government N-Power jobs in Niger, an official has said.
The state coordinator, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Muhammed Ali, made this known to journalists in Minna on Tuesday.

“A total of 5017 candidates applied in the first phase with a total number 4, 251 candidates screened, 258 were disqualified, 744 were absent while 3, 995 were successful.

”In the second phase which is the supplementary 752 candidates applied but 165 were available for screening, while 25 were disqualified.

“A total of 587 were absent and successful candidates were 141 bringing the total number of successful candidates to 4,136 on the whole,’’ he said.

‎Mr. Ali said that candidates disqualified were for obvious reasons, including over age, wrong information, mutilated certificates while some did not have the certificate they claimed to have.

He said that the request for applicants’ Bank Verification Number (BVN) scared some of them away because they were already working and knew they would be discovered.

The state coordinator of NOA also said that 612 vacancies existed in Niger, this emanated from those disqualified and those who were absent from the verification.

“Some people came and requested that we should register them manually but we declined.

“We are now waiting for the Presidency to tell us what to do about the vacant slots; the presidency has to take a decision on that,” he said.
Speaking on the exercise, Afiniki Dauda, the Special Adviser to Governor Abubakar Sanni Bello of Niger on Empowerment and Social Protection, said that Niger was among the 13 states out of 36 states that had been cleared.

Mr. Dauda, however, said that most people initially exhibited apathy to the programme because they were not sure of it.

“My team and I had to go round the 25 council areas in the state and we got only 1,000 people registered during the first time.

“I had to visit the councils twice, I also involved the local government chairmen to help disseminate the information but some still did not come out.”

“I did all I could possibly do to see to the success of the exercise by distributing flyers and radio announcements.

“I heard that some people wrote petitions. I am undaunted about that because I gave it my best publicity,” Dauda said.

N-Power Applicants Protest Against Extortion By Government Officials In Ebonyi

Some youth from the 13 Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, enlisted for the N-Power documentation exercise, on Monday protested alleged extortion by organisers of the programme which marred the exercise.

The N-Power is a federal government initiative to employ 200,000 unemployed graduates across the country and pay them a stipend of N30,000 monthly.

It was gathered that the unemployed youth numbering over 200, who had besieged the venue of the documentation exercise as early as 7 a.m., had earlier yielded to the directive of the organisers to go to Number 29, Gunning road, Abakaliki, and pay the sum of N500 to enable them be documented.

However, trouble started when the organisers directed them at about 2:30 p.m. to go back to their different local government areas for further directive.

The youth, angered by the directive to return back to their council areas after waiting several hours in the scorching sun, trooped to the entrance gate leading to the governor’s office and blocked the entrance.

They insisted that either the Commissioner for Economic Empowerment and Job Creation, Donatus Njoku, or any other government functionary must address them before they would vacate the entrance.

After several hours of waiting at the entrance gate of the governor’s office without any government functionary addressing them, the protesters went back to Number 29, Gunning road where most of them had paid the N500. They insisted on getting their money back.

Some of the youths who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES on condition of anonymity expressed regret over the procedure and the slow pace of the exercise. They wondered why the organisers would insist that they must pay N500 before they would be attended to.

N-POWER PROGRAMME: FG begins assessment of one million job applicants.

No fewer than a million Nigerian undergraduates who have applied online for the N-Power programme of the Federal Government will now be assessed in order to pick the final 500,000 for the two-year volunteer positions.
