Trump Removes Scaramucci as Communications Director 2 weeks after hiring him

Two weeks after hiring him, President Trump has decided to remove Anthony Scaramucci from his position as communications director. This also comes days after Mr. Scaramucci unloaded a crude verbal tirade against other senior members of the president’s senior staff.

The wealthy New York financier was brought on to the West Wing staff, a move that led to the departures of Sean Spicer, the former press secretary, and Reince Priebus, the president’s first chief of staff.

The decision to remove Mr. Scaramucci, who had boasted about reporting directly to the president, not the chief of staff, John F. Kelly, came at Mr. Kelly’s request, the people said. Mr. Kelly made clear to members of the White House staff at a meeting Monday morning that he is in charge,NY Daily reports.

It was not clear whether Mr. Scaramucci will remain employed at the White House in another position or will leave altogether.

Pope Francis and Donald Trump Meet at the Vatican

 Pope Francis welcomed President Trump to the Vatican on Wednesday, smiling and shaking his hand before ushering him into his study for the first face-to-face meeting of the two leaders, who symbolize starkly different views of the world.
Shortly after 8 a.m., under a crystalline blue sky, the president’s motorcade rolled into the courtyard of the Apostolic Palace, where an honor guard of ostrich-plumed Swiss Guards saluted as Mr. Trump and his wife, Melania, stepped out of an armored limousine.
A few minutes before Mr. Trump’s arrival, the pope arrived at the palace in a blue Ford Focus. He stepped out of the car and walked into a side entrance.
For the president, who arrived in Rome after stops in Saudi Arabia and Israel, the audience in the Vatican caps a tour of the ancestral homes of three of the world’s great monotheistic religions. For Francis, who recently made his own landmark visit to Egypt last month, it was a chance to welcome a second American leader, after President Barack Obama paid his respects in 2014.


Smiles and pleasantries aside, the atmospherics of this meeting were far more fraught. Pope Francis and Mr. Trump have diametrically opposed views on issues as varied as immigration, climate change and arms sales. Although both men seemed determined not to let politics intrude on their encounter, the underlying tensions were clear.
On Tuesday night, Cardinal Peter Turkson, a top Vatican official with close ties to Francis, acknowledged the differences in a post on Twitter: “Pope Francis & Pres Trump reach out to Islam-world to exorcise it of rel. Violence. One offers peace of dialogue, the other security of arms,” he wrote, in an apparent reference to the $110 billion weapons sale that Mr. Trump concluded with Saudi Arabia.
The pope and the president were both elected as outsiders promising to carry the far-off voices of the forgotten to the centers of global power. But that is more or less where the similarities end.
Mr. Trump is the scion of a real estate developer and a thrice-married lover of all things gilded. Pope Francis has made a calling card out of modesty. When, in 2013, he paid his own hotel bill after being elected pope, Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter: “I don’t like seeing the Pope standing at the checkout counter (front desk) of a hotel in order to pay his bill. It’s not Pope-like!”
The two also have fundamentally different views about how to restore balance to a global economic system they consider broken, with Mr. Trump focusing on the engines of capitalism and Pope Francis fighting to protect the workers and the disadvantaged from dehumanizing forces of the modern world.
“The thing they have in common is a major responsibility to govern,” said Antonio Spadaro, a Jesuit priest who edits the Vatican-approved journal La Civiltà Cattolica. “The pope is an actor on the world stage and Trump is the president of a country with a huge impact on the world.”
Pope Francis, a savvy political operator, had signaled in the days leading up to the meeting that he was not seeking a confrontation.
Speaking on the papal plane after a recent trip to Fátima, Portugal, Francis was asked what he expected from the meeting. “In our talk, things will come out, I will say what I think, he will say what he thinks, but I never, ever, wanted to make a judgment without hearing the person,” he said.
That is a far cry from his previous remarks about Mr. Trump. In February 2016, Francis responded to a question about the president’s hard line against immigrants and his desire to build a wall along the border with Mexico, telling reporters, “A person who only thinks about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.”
Mr. Trump, a candidate at the time, swiftly returned fire. “For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful,” he said at a campaign rally in South Carolina.
“No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man’s religion or faith,” he continued. “If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’ ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president.”

One hundred days ago, I took the oath of office and made a pledge: We are not merely going to transfer political power from one party to another, but instead are going to transfer that power from Washington, D.C., and give it back to the people. 

In the past 100 days, I have kept that promise — and more. Issue by issue, department by department, we are giving the people their country back. After decades of a shrinking middle class, open borders and the mass offshoring of American jobs and wealth, this government is working for the citizens of our country and no one else. The same establishment media that concealed these problems — and profited from them — is obviously not going to tell this story. 

That is why we are taking our message directly to America. We have opened the White House doors to listen, engage and act. We’ve invited in labor leaders, factory owners, police officers, farmers, veterans and Democrats, Republicans and independents. The change began with the termination of the Trans- Pacific Partnership— a 12-nation pact that would have shipped millions more jobs to other countries. But leaving the TPP was only the beginning. We have also launched an investigation into foreign trading abuses and taken steps to protect the production of American steel and aluminum. 

After years of federal contracts going to foreign bidders, we are ensuring that government agencies enforce “Buy American” rules and give preference to American companies — and that American companies hire American workers. Crucially, to bring back our jobs, we are going to pursue a complete renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement: We’ve lost nearly a third of our manufacturing jobs in the 23 years since that terrible deal was approved.

At the center of our economic agenda, we’ve undertaken the most far-reaching effort in history to remove job-killing regulations.I ‘ve ordered that for every one new regulation, two old regulations must be eliminated. We’ve signed a record 13 Congressional Review Act resolutions to scrap job-crushing regulations, and I’ve signed 29 pieces of legislation in total — a mark not surpassed in the first 100 days since Harry S. Truman. Those newly enacted laws include Veterans’ Choice legislation — which became law while at the same time we’ve increased by 42 percent the number of veterans approved to see the doctor of their choosing. 

And we’ve provided transparency by publishing all wait times at the Veterans Affairs health system online, backed up by a new Veterans Affairs Office of Accountability. On energy, the change has been profound. We’ve canceled restrictions on the production of oil, natural gas and clean coal. What we’ve accomplished on immigration and criminal enforcement is nothing short of historic. 

After decades of unending illegal immigration and mass uncontrolled entry, we’ve turned the tide as never before — illegal border-crossings are down 73 percent. 

Visa processes are being reformed to substantially improve vetting and screening, and we’ve launched prototypes and bidding for the border wall to stop the scourge of drugs, human trafficking and illegal immigrants from coming into our country. Federal law enforcement has begun a crackdown on sanctuary cities that harbor criminal aliens — because we know the first duty of government is to protect American citizens. 

The Departments of Homeland Security, Justice and State, and the director of national intelligence, have formed an inter-agency group for the express purpose of dismantling transnational criminal cartels. The handcuffs have been removed from our prosecutors, and they’re targeting the drug dealers and gang members who prey on our citizens — and they’re working to eradicate the violent cartel MS-13. The change on defense has been profound as well. 

The Defense Department has begun to rebuild and restore our military readiness. We’ve reasserted American leadership by holding the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria accountable for its monstrous use of banned chemical weapons against helpless, innocent civilians. Our successful missile strike enforced the red line that the previous administration drew but ignored, thus restoring our credibility with our friends and our deterrence with our foes.

Finally, NATO countries are starting to pay billions of dollars more since I have made clear that the United States expects all of its allies to pay their fair share. I delivered on one of my biggest promises, appointing and confirming a new justice to the Supreme Court who will be faithful to the U.S. Constitution.

This is the first time a new justice has been confirmed in the first 100 days in 136 years. As we’ve made these changes — on the border, on our economy, on our security — confidence has soared. And a survey of manufacturing reveals record-breaking optimism in the future. Consumer confidence hit a 16-year high . 

Thousands of new jobs are being re-shored back to America — including jobs at Ford, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler, Sprint, Intel and so many more.

We are proving that Buy and Hire American isn’t just a slogan — it’s now the policy of the U.S. government. It, along with the many other things we are doing, will Make America Great Again. No longer will we listen to the same failed voices of the past who brought us nothing but war overseas, poverty at home and the loss of companies, jobs and our wealth to countries that have taken total advantage of the United States. The White House is once again the People’s House.

And I will do everything in my power to be the People’s President — to faithfully, loyally and proudly champion the incredible citizens who love this nation and who call this God-blessed land their home.

Ivanka Trump Booed in Germany When She Praised Her Father’s ‘Advocacy’ for Women

Ivanka Trump was among the visiting dignitaries at the W20 women’s summit in Berlin, Germany on Tuesday. The 35-year-old mother-of-3 was booed after she praised her father, U.S. President Donald Trump, for advocating for women and children.

Ivanka was participating in a discussion panel at the women’s empowerment forum alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel when the audience began to boo.

Ivanka was booed after she said criticized the United States for not giving paid leave to women with children, then she said “I’m very, very proud of my father’s advocacy.”

She added: “[H]e’s been a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive.”

Also seated on the panel were (L-R) Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland, Trump, International Monetary Fund Director Christine Lagarde, Merkel, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, and panel moderator Miriam Meckel.

Ivanka serves as an unpaid special advisor to her father. She occupies an office in the White House and she has her own staff. Ivanka graduated from the prestigious Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She is fluent in French and she speaks a little German.

US President Donald Trump ordered a massive military strike on a Syrian air base on Thursday in retaliation for a “barbaric” chemical attack he blamed on President Bashar al-Assad. The missiles were fired from the USS Porter and the USS Ross, which belong to the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet and are located in the eastern Mediterranean. / AFP

Also the the governor of Homs province where the Shayrat base is located said that US military strike on a Syrian airbase has caused several deaths.

“There are martyrs, but we don’t yet know the number either of martyrs or of wounded,” Talal Barazi told AFP by telephone.

He said parts of the base were on fire and some of the wounded were suffering from burns.

“It will take some time to determine the extent of the damages,” he said.

“Of course we condemn this, all action targeting Syrian military bases is condemnable,” Barazi said.

He said the forces present at the base “provide important support” in the battle against the Islamic State group in the Palmyra region, home to a famed desert city that Syrian troops recaptured from jihadists last month.

Two months after her husband’s inauguration as America’s 45th President, Melania Trump unveiled, on April 3, her first official portrait as First Lady. “I am honored to serve in the role of First Lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years,” she said in a press statement released with the new photograph.

Shot in the White House’s residence, the portrait shows Melania Trump with her arms crossed, looking straight on at the camera, with slight smile on her face. It is the result of a team effort between three Belgian photographers – Regine Mahaux, whose name is attached to the portrait, her brother, Benoit Mahaux, and Wim Van De Genachte. All three have worked with the Trumps in the last few years.

“It was a job for Melania herself,” Van De Genachte tells TIME. From January 19 to 21, the three photographers shadowed the Trump family in their pre- and post-inauguration lives. “It was a great assignment,” says Benoit Mahaux. “During these three days, I shot around 7,000 photos. We were lucky to be with them all day long.”

The three photographers divided tasks during the inauguration, photographing from different spots. “We’re a good team together,” says Van De Genachte. “We inspire each other. Our work is efficient and that’s why, I think, Melania likes about us.”

There’s still uncertainty about who of Regine or Benoit pressed the shutter for Melania Trump’s official portrait – the credit went to Regine, while metadata points to her brother. “We were working as a team,” says Van De Genachte. “It’s the result of all of our work,” adds Mahaux.

That work, both Mahaux and Van De Genachte are quick to point out, shouldn’t be seen as political. “It’s not propaganda,” says Mahaux. “On a shoot like this, I have no political affiliations.”

Regine Mahaux did not return TIME’s requests for comment.

White House makes clear it's not trying to push Assad out

The Trump administration declared Friday that it wasn't pursuing a strategy to push Syrian President Bashar Assad out of power, making clear its focus is on defeating the Islamic State group.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said the U.S. approach was being driven by a new "reality" and that Assad's future had to be a decision for the Syrian people. Similar statements were made earlier by U.S. Cabinet members speaking in Ankara, London and at the United Nations.

"There is a political reality that we have to accept in terms of where we are right now," Spicer told reporters. "We had an opportunity and we need to focus on now defeating ISIS."

Hours earlier, Jim Mattis, President Donald Trump's Pentagon chief, said Washington was looking at Syria "one day at a time," indicating Assad's status wasn't the most immediate question. On Thursday, Trump's U.N. ambassador, Nikki Haley, said of Assad: "Do we think he's a hindrance? Yes. Are we going to sit there and focus on getting him out? No."

Assad's grip over Syria has been at the heart of a six-year war that has killed as many as a half-million people, helped spawn a global migration crisis and led to the emergence of IS as a worldwide terror threat. All mediation efforts have failed. And with the help of Russia and Iran, Assad has crushed much of the armed opposition and regained control over most of Syria's biggest cities.

While the statements of Trump's policy, by themselves, break little from where President Barack Obama left U.S. policy upon exiting office, they differ sharply from Obama's earlier demands for Assad to leave power. Five months into Syria's civil war, Obama gave a high-profile speech saying "the time has come for President Assad to step aside."

Those calls ebbed after a Russian-backed military intervention on Assad's behalf in September 2015 and a series of devastating setbacks for Syria's Western-backed and Arab-backed opposition forces. These developments appear to represent the "reality" Spicer alluded to on multiple occasions at Friday's news briefing — but it is one Obama officials acknowledged as well.

In December 2015, then-Secretary of State John Kerry delivered a very similar message in Moscow, saying "the United States and our partners are not seeking so-called regime change" and promising to facilitate a peace process in which "''Syrians will be making decisions for the future of Syria." His efforts failed.

Nevertheless, top Trump officials sought to describe their approach as new.

Speaking to reporters at the U.N., Haley said the U.S. "can't necessarily focus on Assad the way that maybe the previous administration did." She spoke of pressure to rid Syria of Iran's influence, saying "that is really a problem," and indicated the U.S. would be working with Turkey and other countries on trying to "bring peace and stability back."

"You pick and choose your battles," she said. "And when we're looking at this, it's about changing our priorities, and our priority is no longer to sit there and focus on getting Assad out. Our priority is to really look at how do we get things done, who do we need to work with to really make a difference for the people in Syria."

The Trump administration is threading many competing interests.

It wants to defeat IS and needs the support of moderate Sunnis in Syria, who've competed with extremists for leadership of the anti-Assad insurgency. It hopes to work with Russia, which has proved in deed that it won't let Assad fall to a chaotic revolution. And it needs Arab allies, who've held firm on the mantra of "Assad must go."

But the White House also has been trying to emphasize to American voters how it is pursuing a new track on U.S. foreign policy after Trump's severe criticism of the status quo.

In Turkey on Thursday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson recited part of the new message: "The longer-term status of President Assad will be decided by the Syrian people."

Spicer said avenues that might have existed for Obama to drive Assad from power had since been closed off. "There is not the opposition that existed last time and the opportunities that existed," he said

Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, appointed Presidential Special Assistant

U.S. President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, has announced that she would take up an appointment in her father’s administration.

Ivanka, in a statement on Wednesday, said she will be a Special Assistant to the President but will not take a salary.

This came as her unofficial role has grown in recent weeks, and she was granted security clearance and an office at the White House, according to reports.

“I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules.

“And I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House Office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees.

“Throughout this process, I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House Counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role,” Ivanka said.

Ivanka’s role as ‘First Daughter’ in support of the President is unprecedented.

Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner, has recently been confirmed a Senior Adviser to the President.

The White House also released a statement about the new role to be played by Ivanka, saying that it is “pleased” by the move.

“Ivanka’s service as an unpaid employee furthers our commitment to ethics, transparency, and compliance.

“And it affords her increased opportunities to lead initiatives driving real policy benefits for the American public that would not have been available to her previously,” the White House statement read.

When her increased security clearance and White House office were announced, Ivanka acknowledged that “there is no modern precedent for an adult child of the president”.

The official title made Ivanka existing role more formalized but she had been present for family events like the various inauguration celebrations as well as closed-door meetings and sit-downs with foreign leaders.

In February, she met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the White House, as part of a roundtable discussion on female entrepreneurs.

She also met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visited the White House in February.

When German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the White House earlier this month, Ivanka was seated right beside her.

When Trump held a listening session about domestic and international human trafficking on Feb. 23, he started his remarks by thanking Ivanka for her role.

Ivanka involvement in business roundtable discussions has been attributed to her business background at her personal fashion label and her father’s real estate empire.

In an episode of Bloomberg’s “The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations” that aired Wednesday, Oprah Winfrey was asked by philanthropist David Rubenstein if she had considered running for control of the Oval Office  acknowledging the fact that she’s super popular and that a woman has yet to be elected.
“I actually never thought I never considered the question even a possibility. I just thought, oh, oh,” said Oprah.
Oprah didn’t mention Donald Trump specifically, but she touched on his inexperience opening up the possibility of her 2020 run.
“I thought, ‘I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough,’” she said. “Now I’m thinking, ‘Oh, oh.”
Back in January, she told “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert that she would “never” run for president…but times have changed.

Kanye has mysteriously deleted all mentions of Donald Trump on his Twitter account, and TMZ reports it's because the rapper is super unhappy about the President's decisions during his first week in office.

Yeezus got a lot of backlash for meeting with the POTUS in December, and at the time he explained it away by saying that he felt it was necessary to come together to work on important matters. "I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues.

These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculum, and violence in Chicago. It is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change," he tweeted.

Us Weekly: Melania Trump probably won’t move to Washington at all

President Donald Trump may have 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue all to himself. Though Donald, 70, and his wife Melania announced in November that the first lady would relocate from New York City to Washington D.C. once their 10-year-old son Barron finished up the school year, a family insider reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that may not happen.

“They will reevaluate toward the end of the school year if they will keep this arrangement or if Melania and Barron will move to Washington,” says the source. “They could go either way right now. They will ultimately do what’s best for Barron.”

Though living 200 miles apart is unprecedented for a president and first lady, it suits the fiercely independent Donald just fine. When ABC News anchor David Muir asked January 25 if not having Melania, 46, or Barron around left him feeling lonely, he responded, “No, because I end up working longer. And that’s OK.”

For the time being, Donald, Melania and Barron will take turns shuttling 90 minutes door to door between their $100 million triplex apartment at 721 Fifth Avenue and the White House. In a January 25 New York Times article, Donald declared, “They’ll come down on weekends.” Just not every week. During the weekend of January 28, as protests erupted over Donald’s immigration ban, the first lady and Barron stayed put in New York City, according to a Melania source. Though she wasn’t working out of an East Wing office, Melania has been tending to a bit of business.

“Melania is actively building her team, including hiring a chief of staff, a senior adviser and a social secretary, among other key positions,” continues the source. “While she is a mom first, she is very much embracing the role and responsibilities of first lady.”

New Acting Attorney General Vows to Defend President Trump’s Immigration Order

Acting Attorney General Dana Boente is ordering the Justice Department to “do our sworn duty” and defend President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration and refugees.

Boente was named to the job Monday night after Trump fired Sally Yates, a Democratic appointee who had publicly questioned the constitutionality of the executive order and directed Justice Department attorneys not to defend it in court. Yates said she was not convinced it was lawful or consistent with the agency’s obligation “to stand for what is right.”

Longtime federal prosecutor Boente was quickly named as Yates’ replacement and was sworn in privately late Monday.

Boente says in a statement issued by the Justice Department that Trump’s executive order is “both lawful on its face and properly drafted.”

President Donald Trump fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday night for "refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States," the White House said.

"(Yates) has betrayed the Department of Justice," the White House statement said.

Dana Boente, US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, was sworn in at 9 p.m. ET, per an administration official. A few hours later, Boente issued a statement rescinding Yates' order, instructing DOJ lawyers to "defend the lawful orders of our President."

Trump didn't call Yates to dismiss her, she was informed by hand-delivered letter, according to a different administration official.

The dramatic move came soon after CNN reported Yates told Justice Department lawyers not to make legal arguments defending Trump's executive order on immigration and refugees.

The Obama family ended their eight-year residency at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on Friday, as the former first couple bid a temporary farewell to the nation’s capital following Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.

Immediately following President Trump‘s oath of office on the West front of the U.S. Capitol, former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, slipped through the building and out to its East front. On the steps, the former first couple shared embraces with former Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, as well as Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen.

The Obamas stood with President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, before walking down in unison toward a Marine helicopter. The two couples exchanged pleasantries, before the Obamas boarded the helicopter for the quick hop to Joint Base Andrews, where daughters Malia and Sasha waited—along with the Air Force jet that, for the next four years, will only be known as Air Force One when Trump is on board.

While Donald Trump is being sworn in as President on Jan. 20 in Washington D.C., T.I. will lead an “anti-Inauguration” march from Centennial Park to the Georgia State Capitol building.

Exactly what T.I. hopes to accomplish is not clear. Marching and protesting will not make Trump give up the White House or install Hillary Clinton as president.

The democratic process worked on Nov. 8 and a president was elected fair and square by the people for the people. Protesting that process is un-American and unpatriotic.

If T.I. wants to spearhead a movement that will benefit the black community, how about spearheading the Read a Book Movement? Or the Pull Up Your Pants and Get a Job Movement? Or the Stop Carjackings from Gas Stations in John Lewis‘s District Movement?

The creative possibilities for positive social change are endless.

President-elect Donald Trump arrived in Washington a day ahead of his inauguration, praising his cabinet picks as having “by far the highest I.Q. of any cabinet ever assembled.”

Nigerian-American,Omarosa is joining Donald Trump in the White House to Focus on Public Engagement.

Donald Trump’s director of African-American outreach, Omarosa Manigault, has landed her second job in the White House. 

The AP reports that Omarosa has been hired for a position that will focus on public engagement.

Donald Trump once fired Omarosa Manigault from “The Apprentice,” but is now reportedly hiring her for a job in the White House.

The Associated Press on Tuesday reported that the onetime reality-TV contestant will take a public-engagement position in the Trump administration. Manigault was a vocal Trump supporter during the presidential campaign, and served as Trump’s African-American outreach director. She’s currently part of Trump’s transition team.

It won’t be her first White House job: Manigault previously had a spot in Vice President Al Gore’s office during the Clinton administration. She also won’t be the first celebrity to work at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave: actor Kal Penn held a similar public-engagement position under President Barack Obama.

When she appeared on the first season of “The Apprentice" in 2004, Manigault was painted as a villain, notorious for her cut-throat attitude and blindsiding tactics. She’s no stranger to blunt talk in real life either, telling PBS’s “Frontline” in September that “every critic, every detractor will have to bow down to President Trump. . . . It is the ultimate revenge to become the most powerful man in the universe.”
