NHRC Stops Planned Marriage Of 40 Year Old Man To A 13 Year Old Girl In Abuja.



The National Human Rights Commission has stopped the planned marriage of a 40-year-old man to a 13-year-old girl who is a primary 5 pupil of POWA Primary School in Abuja.
The marriage, which was billed to take place on July 24 in Abuja, was halted by the Commission after an investigation.

Authorities Of Benue State University Makurdi Accused Of Human Right Violations By Evicting Female Students Forcefully.







I got several calls and online reports on the case of Human Rights violations that took place in BSU  and am still investigating to be sure of  the story although i haven't been able to get any staff to confirm this report ,however , if this comes out to be true then i must say it is the highest form of violation of the rights of female students in BSU and the affected students need to file a petition to the Executive Secretary National Human Rights Commission through Makurdi Zonal Office.

Human Rights Watch :World Report 2014.



Horrific abuses in the north by the militant Islamist group Boko Haram and the Nigerian security forces’ heavy-handed response to this violence dominated Nigeria’s human rights landscape in 2013. In May, President Goodluck Jonathan imposed a state of emergency, which was extended for another three months in November in the three states where Boko Haram is most active. The emergency failed to curb atrocities and to sufficiently protect civilians. The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court said that there was reason to believe Boko Haram had committed crimes against humanity.

National Human Rights Commission Set To Begin Public Hearing On Obasanjo's Letter.


 
The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has disclosed its readiness to hold a public inquiry on the allegations contained in a letter written by the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The 18-page letter, dated December 2, 2013, accused the President of training snipers to take out about 1000 political opponents.
