“The Hausa boy then used something like knife to cut my hand, out of anger I took a screw driver and stabbed him. That’s how they took us to police station.
“When we got to the Police, I told the Police who I am but they did not believe me until I called one of my aunties that confirmed to them.

MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE OVER N24,000 DEBT

A man identified as Abiodun Onipede has been arrested for attempting to commit suicide over his inability to refund a N24,000 debt.

The man was arrested by the anti-vandal team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, while attempting to take his life in a bush along Ayetoro road in Abeokuta.

Onipede had tied a rope to a tree and was about to hang himself when a member of the team who wanted to relieve himself in the bush stumbled on him and prevented him from committing suicide.

The suspect, who is an Okada rider, had dropped out of school at 200-level at the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, due to a financial challenge.

He was also said to have lost one of his children due to his inability to pay the child’s medical bills.

By the time he could raise the money, Onipede who was an employee of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, said his child died after a surgery.

Thirty-four-year-old Onipede later said his inability to perform his responsibility as the head of the family led him to attempt suicide.

He added that his failure to pay the ‘Lapo’ loan, an informal money-lending scheme, made him miserable.

He said, “Due to the health problem of my child in 2008, I had to drop out of school so that I could raise some money to take care of my sick child. But the child died in 2009 because we were unable to pay some hospital bills after people had helped us to raise money for the surgery.

“I was duped by some people and they even threatened me, and this made me to leave Abeokuta for Akwa-Ibom State. It was when I came back after a year that I discovered I had been sacked from the TRACE.

“I am frustrated because I owe a lot of people ranging from house rent to electricity bill, and some other bills. I am ashamed of myself because I am not a responsible man. I cannot cater for my family.

“The Lapo officials have used members of the Oodua Peoples Congress to arrest my wife because of the money. I am just frustrated because I have to pay N3,000 every Friday and I am jobless. I have about N24,000 to balance.

“I cannot pay the hospital bills of my mother. I can’t take care of her, I was told she is now on the street begging to survive. No family to help me. We have been living in abject poverty.

“What convinced me to commit suicide was due to my inability to refund the ‘Lapo’ loan I collected when I wanted to start my tricycle business. The officials of the Lapo have been harassing my family because I cannot afford to repay N3,000 every Friday,” he said.

He, however, said he regretted his action, adding, “It was not my fault. I am a frustrated man that does not know what to do.

“I wish to go back to school; I want the government to help me with a job that can cater for my family.”

Police nab man over attempt to use father, two siblings, five friends for ritual

The Police in Anambra have arrested a 26-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Okafor, for allegedly attempting to use his father, two siblings and five friends for money ritual.

The suspect, who hailed from Ifite-Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra, was arrested following information made available to the police by a vigilant resident of the community.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Garba Umar, who briefed newsmen in Amawbia on Thursday on the arrest of the suspect, said the father had innocently provided N100, 000 to his son unknown to him that the son had a devilish intention.

Umar said that the suspect lied to his father about a business which made him raise the money for him believing that it was a genuine venture.

He further said that after collecting the money, the suspect proceeded to the house of a native doctor to prepare a charm that would enable him to eliminate his father, two siblings and five of his friends.

He said that the suspect had confessed to the crime, and was assisting the police with useful information for further investigation.

The commissioner said the suspect would be charged to court after investigation.

He listed the items recovered from the suspect to include; eight photographs of the victims, including three members of the family and pictures of his five face book friends as well as the sum of N100,000.

The suspect told newsmen that he collected the N100, 000 from his father under the pretence that he would use the money to set up a business.

Okafor told reporters that he was roped into the act after he was defrauded of N400,000 by one of his friends who promised to take him to Dubai.

“Amidst these frustrations, I sought the assistance of one Zaki who is very influential in the society and he told me that he made his money through money ritual.

“He encouraged me to join him in the ritual act after revealing the secret,” he said.

Okafor said he was warned not to reveal the secrets of the ritual to anybody otherwise his life would be terminated.

He regretted that he had no intention to join the evil act, but that he was pushed into it by the devil, adding that he got the picture of his friends from their Facebook walls.

EVIL FATHER KILLS SON TO PUNISH WIFE

A California man Aramazd Andressian, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for killing his 5-year-old son just to get back at his wife.

Investigators said Andressian admitted killing his son which necessitated his estranged wife damning him to hell during the hearing Los Angeles County Superior Court.

“I hope you relive the image of murdering my baby every day of your insignificant life,” Ana Estevez said. “May your dark soul burn in eternal hell.”

She also called her husband a failure as a father, a man and a human being.

“There is no real pain, just an incomprehensible deadness. Like my son, I, too, have died,” she said.

Andressian, Sr., 35, pleaded guilty earlier this month in Los Angeles County Superior Court to first-degree murder in the April death of his son, Aramazd Andressian, Jr., after a family trip to Disneyland.

Andressian pleaded guilty partly to avoid the possibility of prosecutors adding a charge that could result in the death penalty, his attorney has said.

The father did not speak during sentencing in the suburban Alhambra branch court, Fox 11 reported.

Sheriff’s investigators said the boy apparently was killed on April 21. His father was found passed out in a park the next morning, sparking an intensive search for the boy.

Andressian had taken prescription pills and was found in a car doused in gasoline in an apparent suicide attempt, sheriff’s officials have said.

Investigators searched for more than two months before they found the boy’s body on June 30 near Lake Cachuma outside Santa Barbara, about 145 miles away from Anaheim, where Disneyland is located.

Prosecutors have not revealed how the boy was killed but said the evidence against Andressian is overwhelming and the killing was planned and deliberate.

Andressian’s attorney, Ambrosio Rodriguez, repeatedly has declined to comment when asked why Andressian killed his son but has said the killing was “not planned.”

Rodriguez has said his client told investigators where to find his son’s remains and regrets killing the boy.

A report by the county Department of Children and Family Services, obtained by The Associated Press, showed that the boy’s skeletal remains were found in a wooded area in Santa Ynez.

The report described the boy as being the victim of “physical and severe neglect.”

WE HAVE INFORMATION ON OZUBULU KILLERS - GOV. OBIANO

Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, said that security agencies had a lead that could make possible the arrest of the gunmen that killed 13 people at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Amankwa, Ozubulu in the state.

The governor insisted that the target of the shooting was a business partner of the alleged killer of the worshippers, but said that while the target was not found, his father was killed during the attack.

Obiano spoke with journalists in Abuja on Friday at the national headquarters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, where he submitted his governorship nomination form.

He said, “We are taking precautions, we have a lead and the police have made some arrests and we are very confident that we will resolve the matter very soon.”

He said that the state government was bankrolling both the cost of treating the injured and the burial of dead victims of the attack.

The governor said that despite the killings, his state remains the safest state in the country.

“We can’t use that singular incident to judge the state. We have stopped kidnapping, assassinations and all that in the state. So, whichever way you look at it, we remain a safe state,” he said.

On why he is gunning for a second term as governor, Obiano said that his target was that by the time he had done eight years in office, he would have touched the life of everyone in the state.

The governor, who expressed confidence at the possibility of clinching victory at the poll, said that virtually all the major roads in the state had been lighted up.

He said that so far his government had achieved 66 per cent target in internally generated revenue.

Obiano said, “In agriculture, the state is doing very well and has attained self-sufficiency in rice production. We consume 320,000 metric tonnes and now we produce 375,000 metric tonnes per annum, from 80,000 metric tonne when we assumed office.

“What I want to leave behind as my legacy when I leave office after eight years is to ensure that Anambra State is self-sufficient in its revenue sources so that we will not have to be waiting for Abuja to run the affairs of governance.”

80 NIGERIANS ON DEATHROW IN MALAYSIA, 350 IN THAILAND PRISONS

The recent massacre at the St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State, linked to a gang war among the Nigerian Methamphetamine barons, which resulted in the death of 13 people has brought to the fore the increasing prominent role of Nigerians in the global illicit drug trade.

This upsurge in the involvement of Nigerians in the global cocaine and heroin business has resulted in the arrest and conviction of many the couriers, including students, in Malaysia and Thailand where demand for hard drug is very high.

According to sources at the Malaysian embassy in Nigeria, out of 81 Nigerians on death row in their country, 80 of them were sentenced to death for drug-related offences.
“As at today, 123 Nigerian students are in various detention centers after being arrested by Royal Malaysian Police for drug trafficking. This is out of a total of 350 foreign students in detention in Malaysia,” said the embassy sources.

Another source at the Thai embassy informed THISDAY that another batch of 350 Nigerians were in prison in Thailand for trafficking mainly cocaine and heroin.
The finest quality of the deadly synthetic illicit drug called Methamphetamine which is produced in Nigeria is also enjoying a boom and exported mainly to Japan.

Further investigation revealed that South Africa had also joined the list of destination of choice for the Nigerian barons to market Methamphetamine.
THISDAY gathered that the Methamphetamine barons were being assisted by Mexicans and Colombians in clandestine laboratories scattered all over the South-east.
Unfortunately, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) appears incapable of arresting the situation as many of its officers collude with the barons, alongside NAFDAC officials, who regulate the importation of ephedrine, used in the manufacturing of Methamphetamine.

Sources said the NDLEA officials were further hindered by other factors like lack of operational vehicles and computers, poor funding by the federal government and low officers’ morale. “The situation is so bad that the agency monthly imprest is hardly available for the various commands to maintain a modicum of operational readiness. Most of the commands are being run with bribe money from drug lords.”

THISDAY checks revealed that the headquarters of the drug agency located in Lagos on Shaw Road, Ikoyi was cut off public electricity supply for almost a year, and was just restored a few weeks back. The Lagos office could not even install the generator donated to them by international partners. The generator is still lying idle in agency’s premises,” a source revealed.

A recent report by the International Narcotic Control Board (INCB) which covered a period of three years. 2012 to 2014, had confirmed that the finest quality of Methamphetamine is produced in Nigeria and exported to mainly Japan.
This report was analysed by NDLEA/NAFADC Inter-agency Strategic Intelligence team which estimated that this illicit business has fetched drug barons in Nigeria about $939 million in the last three years.

The recent massacre in Ozubulu was linked to a gang war among the Nigerian Methamphetamine barons over sharing of proceeds of the illicit trade.
The INCB report detailed that Methamphetamine “is produced from ephedrine, which is also used to produce licit drugs like cough syrups.”

However, the INCB revealed that poor regulation of the importation of ephedrine into Nigeria had resulted into the diversion of the large quantity imported to the production of methamphetamine in clandestine laboratories scattered around South-east of the country.

The INCB report titled, ‘Methamphetamine – The New Danger in The Illicit Drug Business,’ stated: “Methamphetamine is a synthetic illicit drug produced from ephedrine. For this reason, ephedrine is listed in the Second Schedule of the NDLEA Act as a Psychotropic substance. However, ephedrine is also used to produce licit drugs like cough syrups. For this reason, ephedrine is imported under control because of its licit uses.”

The INCB, saddled with the responsibility of regulating the country needs of narcotic drugs and precursor chemicals for licit uses, stated further that Nigeria’s main sources of importation of ephedrine were India and to a lesser extent Germany.
An analysis of the importation figures of ephedrine into Nigeria in the three years under review by INCB showed a disparity of about 8 tons of ephedrine between what India records as having been exported to Nigeria and what the National Agency for Drugs Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) claims was imported from India.
The INCB stated that Nigeria drug barons were smiling to their banks with

Methamphetamine production: “In Asia, especially Japan, 1 kg of Methamphetamine ranges between USD150,000 and USD200,000. That is to say the 8 ton disparity of ephedrine imported into Nigeria in three years, which is presumed diverted for the production of Methamphetamine, would yield approximately USD 939m for the 6263kg.”
It stated that diversion of ephedrine in Nigeria took place through “mis-declaration (false) or non-declaration or obtaining permits in excess of licit needs – stockpiling and/or deferring production.

Investigations reveal further that Methamphetamine is hot in demand globally, and fetches more money than cocaine because “it is stronger in the long run and holds addicts longer.”
Wikipedia reveals: “Cocaine and meth are a lot alike, while being completely different. The high is similar, cocaine is much stronger initially, but it doesn’t last. People on cocaine need to use more cocaine constantly. Meth will take you almost to the same level as cocaine, but not quite there. But then meth holds you at that point for sixteen hours without needing more.

“Cocaine is a numbing agent; it will cause you to not be able to feel tactile sensations. A person who is really high on cocaine can handle pain well because he is numb to it in some ways. A person on meth will feel all the sensations as though he wasn’t on meth, but the meth user won’t care about things like that if he doesn’t want to. Meth makes you ignore your pain but aware of it if you cared.

“They will both turn you into a raving lunatic after constant habitual use, but meth will take you there after a few days while cocaine may take a few months before you will be a complete addict.”

Bank manager, three others killed in Ekiti as robbers attack two banks, monarch’s palace

Hell was let loose Thursday evening when dare devil armed robbers numbering more than 30 attacked two commercial banks and killed four people in Otun Ekiti, the headquarters of Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State. A bank manager, a cashier, a bank security officer who was planning to wed in a week’s time and a palace night guard were among the victims of the robbery incident that took place around 6.00 pm. Sources revealed that the deceased security guard whose fiancé is heavily pregnant had barely resumed for duty when the robbers struck.

The blood thirsty bandits also attacked the palace of the community’s monarch and a petrol station. They were said to have divided themselves into four subgangs to ensure that the attack was successful. The bandits reportedly made away with huge amount of money from the banks and the petrol station. Many residents of the community who received gunshot wounds are receiving treatment in hospitals. Speaking, the Oore of Otun who is also the paramount ruler of Moba land, Oba Adedapo Oladele Popoola said he thought Boko Haram militants had invaded the town when he heard loud bangs of explosives used by the robbers during the attack which lasted for about an hour.

The monarch said: ” I was relaxing with my chiefs in front of the palace when we heard what first sounded like some fireworks but we dismissed it as some of the children’s antics as a result of the festive period. But later we heard heavier and more deafening noise that sounded like gunshots and explosives. That was when we realized it was no child’s play. Gunshots and explosives were all over the place and heard from all corners. I couldn’t situate the incident as we ruminated whether it was robbery, Boko Haram’s attack or some kind of war happening.

“We later learnt that the robbers stationed their men at the four entrances of the town. The first place they were stationed was the roundabout at Erinmope Road, the second was outside Moba Local Government Secretariat, the third was in front of my palace and the fourth was in front of the Technical College outside the town on the way leading to Kwara State.” The monarch added: “The sporadic gunshots and explosives lasted for about an hour before the dust settled. And by that time four innocent people were lying dead.

The manager and a cashier of a new generation bank, a security man at the second new generation bank and the my night guard who had just resumed for night duty and wanted to close the gate were the victims. ” I reported the case to the governor and he immediately called me. The governor quickly mobilized security operatives who promptly acted on his instruction and came around past 7pm but the robbers had long left.” The state’s police command’s spokesman, Alberto Adeyemi confirmed the incident. He disclosed that investigation into the robbery had commenced, adding that the remains of the victims have been deposited at the General Hospital in Usi Ekiti.

WOMAN BEHEADS NEWBORN BABY TO COVER UP INCEST ACT WITH UNCLE

Clever Shamhu, a Zimbabwean woman left her community in complete shock recently after her criminal act was exposed.
According to B Metro, the woman who had an affair with her own uncle, Chipo Mpofu, resulting in a baby being born, connived with him to commit one of the worst crimes ever.

Clever Shamhu and Chipo Mpofu from Chitoro village in Gokwe reportedly beheaded their newborn baby with a machete and reportedly buried the remains begind their home.

Their act was exposed by a neighbour’s dog that was found feasting on the badly decomposed body of the child leading to the interrogation which led to Mpofu’s arrest.

According to B-Metro, she was arrested and convicted of the heinous act. However, she heaved a huge sigh of relief when she was sentenced by a Gokwe magistrate to perform 350 hours of community service.

But her relief was short-lived after villagers demanded that she and her uncle who is reportedly on the run be banished from the village because of their evil act.

During a meeting presided by the Vilage Chief, Nemangwe whose jurisdiction the area falls under, villagers demanded that Mpofu and Shamhu be immediately expelled from the village.

Chief Nemangwe confirmed the incident and narrated how Mpofu and Shamhu’s incestuous relationship that culminated in a pregnancy was busted.

“They had been seeing each other behind Mpofu’s husband’s back. After becoming suspicious, the husband confronted her but she denied that she was dating her uncle.

“When her husband went to South Africa, Mpofu exploited the opportunity and started to liberally sleep with Shamhu until she became pregnant,” said Chief Nemangwe.

The chief said after falling pregnant Mpofu was confronted by some women from the village who questioned her about it but she vehemently denied that she was pregnant.

“In a bid to conceal the pregnancy, on the night she gave birth she phoned Shamhu who quickly came to her homestead and took the newly-born baby and cut off its head with a machete before burying it in a nearby bush”.

The following day, Mpofu who was still bleeding reportedly went to Headman Chitoro’s wife and lied to her that she was on her menstrual periods.

She told her that people from the village were spreading malicious accusations against her that she was pregnant.

Her trick however, failed to work after her neighbour’s dog was seen four days later feasting on the baby’s badly decomposed body.

Investigations led to the arrest of Mpofu. After Shamhu learnt that the police were looking for him he went into hiding.

Villagers who apparently felt that the sentence passed on Mpofu was not stiff enough approached Chief Nemangwe demanding that the woman and her uncle be banished from the village.

“Instead of banishing them from the village I decided that both of them should pay a fine. Mpofu will pay one goat and Shamhu two. As a way of cleansing the area one of the goats will be slaughtered at the place where the child was buried,” said Chief Nemangwe.

ANOTHER RITUALIST DEN UNCOVERED IN IKEJA, LAGOS

Three suspected ritualists were yesterday smoked out of an abandoned drainage in the Ile Zik axis of Lagos-Abeokuta highway.
Human parts concealed in some sachets were reportedly found in the drainage.

Many tunnels were also seen in the area adjacent to a perimeter fence of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja.

It was gathered that one of the suspects was found with an iPhone.

The suspect, it was learnt, confessed that he was not the only one involved in the criminal act, leading to the arrest of two other suspects.

Eyewitness said a hawker who fell into the hands of the gang raised the alarm after she managed to escape.

People around the area were said to have invaded the place, where shoes belonging to males and females were found.

A sharp knife was found on one of the suspects said to have been posing as a mad man.

Men of the Rapid Response Squad (RSS) rescued the suspects from being lynched by a mob at the scene.

The suspects were whisked away from the scene in a police van.
FM learnt that the suspects are being interrogated at Isokoko Police Station in the Agege.

There are at least eight patrol vans of the police at the location, while a huge crowd converged on the place, making it difficult for free vehicular movement.

Law enforcement agents including police, army and operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps had hectic time controlling onlookers.

Police also foiled an attempt by a mob to burn down a warehouse suspected to be the hideout of the ritualists.
As of press time, the warehouse was being guarded by RRS operatives.

An eyewitness said that the suspects ‘’were picked up after RRS operatives removed a manhole from an underground canal where the ritualists were hiding.’’

A police source, however said those arrested are destitute who converted the disused drainage channels into shelter.

An eyewitness said: “I was coming home today (yesterday) when I encountered traffic like never before on Agege motor road. I trudged along thinking it was an accident only to get to Ile Zik and find out that den was uncovered right along the road. I pass that place every day without realising demons are lurking around there.”

Isaac Osare said: “There was a man who pretended to be a mad man but we found out that he is not mad but a kidnapper and rapist. The police were afraid to go into the tunnel because there are other culprits in it.”

Police Commissioner Fatai Owoseni said there were no shrine and no human parts in the den.

He said: “Our men personally entered the place and saw some people with tools dressed in mechanic clothes. People living under bridges, tunnels, uncompleted building and trenches should be careful because you stand a chance of being tagged as ritualist and being mobbed.”

During a Police parade, an alleged fake pastor of a white garment church in Sagamu, Kehinde Onayiga, and 55 other suspects were paraded by the Ogun State Police Command at its headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta on Thursday.

The suspects’ offences allegedly range from ritual killing to kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery and impersonation.

Among the suspects paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, was Onayiga, who is alleged to have a hand in the killing of a 13-year-old girl, Anuoluwapo Ajisafe, for ritual purposes.

He alleged accomplice, Musiliu Jibril, reportedly lured the victim to Onayiga’s church where she was said to have been murdered.

Jibril confessed to journalists that it was Onayiga who contracted him to source for a female virgin, who he wanted to use for ritual purpose, in preparing some fetish materials for some Internet fraudsters.

He said, “I was able to lure the girl because she knew me and the mother, too, knew me.

“It was the pastor (Onayiga) that contracted me to help him get a female virgin for ritual. He told me he wanted to prepare some charms for some Yahoo boys.

“I delivered the girl to him in his church at Sagamu. He promised to pay me N20,000, but I am yet to get the money.”

Onayiga, dressed in white garment, and holding two goat horns wrapped in red cloth, denied the allegation, saying, “It is a lie. he did not deliver any girl to me in my church.”

Onayiga said he trained under an Islamic cleric before branching out to start a white garment church.

Asked what he used the fetish-looking goat horns wrapped in red cloth for, he responded, “I used them to pray for those that are sick and are brought to my church for healing.”

The teenage girl, Anuoluwapo, was said to have been missing since June 21, 2017 and her whereabouts remains unknown till date.

Another suspect paraded for murder/ritual killing was Bakare Olalekan, who was linked to the killing of a 16-year-old girl, Olayinka Adebayo, in Ijebu area, and reportedly sold her heart to ritualists.

Iliyasu said four members of the syndicate were already in police net, while the suspect (Olalekan), had confessed to selling two human hearts to one of them.
He said he bought one of the human hearts for N10,000 from a friend called Oye.

Also nabbed were a mother, Mulika Alaba and her 16-year-old daughter, Olamide Saliu, who allegedly dealt in Indian hemp.
A bag of Indian hemp was allegedly recovered from them.

Iliyasu said in a bid to curb criminality in the state, the command had deployed tactical and covert operatives from the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Police Mobile Force, conventional policemen, intelligence unit and Anti-Kidnapping/ Cultism to the length and breadth of the state

We are working undercover to arrest persons within and outside Nigeria who are behind the Ozubulu massacre- Police PRO

The Public Relations officer of the Nigeria Police force, Jimoh Moshood, says three persons have been arrested and are currently in detention over the massacre at the St Phillips Catholic Church in Ozubulu in Anambra state last Sunday.

Jimoh who was a guest on Channels TV this morning, said the persons arrested have a direct connection with those who perpetrated the crime. According to him, the police is currently working undercover to arrest some of the perpetrators of the attack that are currently not in Nigeria.

"The update is that we have three suspects in detention and we have more leads to get to the perpetrators of this crime and very soon, Nigerians would see that we have succeeded in ensuring that we arrest the actual culprit in this crime. Very soon we are going to have a breakthrough.

"Those suspects that we have arrested are not just people that we picked on. These are people that have played one role or the other in committing that offense and we would get to the root of this. Investigation is ongoing around the church premises while the church has deemed it in their wisdom to use an alternative building around the church to conduct mass for the deceased.

"The IGP has sympathized with the government and people of Anambra state and has put in all the seriousness needed. Outside of that, we are working undercover to ensure everyone involved, including those who are not in Nigeria presently, are arrested and prosecuted" he said

Recall that the attack is believed to have been caused by a drug deal that went south between two drug barons that are from Anambra state but reside in South Africa.
