The burial of the paramount ruler of Tivland, Alfred Torkula, who died on November 23, 2015 is ongoing.The traditional ruler referred to as Tor Tiv IV, died in the early hours of Monday at a hospital in Abuja at 71 and had spent 24 years on the throne, having been corronated in April 1991 to succeed Chief Akperan Orshi.

The remains of the Paramount Ruler of the Tiv Nation Late Dr Alfred Akawe Torkula Tor Tiv iv arrived this afternoon @ the Ijir Tarmen Hall (palace) Traditional Rulers and Representative of the Benue State Governor Hon. Titus Zam were present at the valedictory session. Already the state government has declared Thursday 4feb a work free day ,most sons and daughters of the Tiv nation have arrived Benue state to pay their last respect.
