Benue workers unpaid since December 2015




According to Benue.com,workers in Benue State have not received salaries this year as their last salary was that for December 2015.
This was disclosed by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC chairman in the state, Mr. Godwin Anya while speaking to newsmen.

BIRS Team Spotted Checking & Impounding Vehicles In Makurdi.


The Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS)  in conjunction with the Ministry of Works and Transport has engaged the services of some consultants to enforce defaulters of vehicle registration as well as motorcycles in the state.

 The Jachipas Nig. Ltd and Teshimo Nig. Enterprise Ltd who will serve as enforcement team are to ensure that vehicles of defaulters of vehicle and motorcycle license registration and renewal  are checked and impounded by the enforcement team.The enforcement officers were spotted all over Makurdi, checking and impounding defaulters' vehicle. By this ,all vehicles impounded on the offence of License are to pay a fine of #5,000 while defaulters on other road offences are to pay a fine of #2,000.

The burial of the paramount ruler of Tivland, Alfred Torkula, who died on November 23, 2015 is ongoing.The traditional ruler referred to as Tor Tiv IV, died in the early hours of Monday at a hospital in Abuja at 71 and had spent 24 years on the throne, having been corronated in April 1991 to succeed Chief Akperan Orshi.

Tor Tiv’s Death: Ortom, Burial C’ttee Inspect Tomb, Advocate Peaceful Succession.




Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom and the Central Planning Committee for the burial of the Tor Tiv, Orchivirigh Alfred Akawe Torkula yesterday inspected the tomb where the remains of the deceased monarch would be laid.
Ortom and the committee, headed by Brig. General Atom Kpera (rtd) toured the graveyard located at Abagu area, beside the Tor Tiv’s palace in Gboko town, the ancestral home of the Tiv nation.

Sunday January 31 2016 is Sankera wake keep day at the Tor Tiv palace ,it is part of activities lined up for the burial rites of the deceased paramount ruler.The Tiv people are mourning the death of their Paramount ruler,HRH Dr Alfred Torkula,whose burial is slated for 4 Feb 2016 after an interdenominational service that will be held at the popular JS Tarka Stadium Gboko after which the final interment will take place. Today ,Chief Dr. Terkula Suswam heralded the arrival of Tiv from Sankera extraction when he arrived the wake keep on a Horse,according to our reporter ,Suswam was ursherd into the palace by Association of Tiv Actors.See more pictures after cut.

Gov Ortom Condoles Family Of Associate Professor Who Died In A Fatal Accident In Garaku.






Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has described late Associate Professor Regina Odeh who lost her life in a car crash at Garaku in Nassarawa state on Sunday 24 jan 2016 as a patriotic citizen who played a key role in the strategy committee which fashioned his administration's blueprint and was one of the the resource persons who trained all APC agents for the governorship polls last year,the gov was accompanied by his deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu, and other top government officials 


Until her demise she was a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts of the Benue State University, Makurdi.
Governor Ortom described the deceased as a patriotic citizen who played a key role in the Strategy Committee which fashioned his administration's blueprint and was also one of the resource persons who trained the All Progressives Congress, APC, agents for the governorship polls last year. 
He stated that much as her death was shocking, as Christians the Bible enjoined believers to give thanks to God who he said gave and took life while urging the living to get prepared to answer God's call at any moment.
