THERE ARE NO BLOOD-SUCKING DEMONS ON THE ROAD. - FRSC, CELEBRITIES ADVICE DRIVERS

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has advised motorists to drive safely, and not to blame accidents on blood sucking demons attached to ember months.

The corps Marshal, Oyeyemi gave the advice during a lecture themed: “Ember Months; Road Traffic Crash Myth Debunked” on Friday in Lagos and induction of Celebrity Special Marshalled at Renaissance Hotel Lagos.

The corps marshal said that people were too religious during the ember months by attaching all sorts of spirituality to the months rather than advising the drivers to be cautious and drive carefully.

“There are no blood sucking demons on the roads during ember months; we are too religious in this period of time about the road.

“A drunk driver speeding at 140 kilometers per hour, how will the end of the journey will be?

According to him, it is improper to drive while listening to music or on phone call with an earpiece.

He said that the FRSC was working hard to increase the fine from N4,000 to N50,000 for the offence of using phone while driving.

“We are trying to bring stiffer punishment to erring motorists who disobey the traffic rules and regulations

“We are increasing the penalty from N4,000 to N50000 and N100,000 depending on the type of offence committed.

“The bill has reached second reading at the National Assembly; hopefully, very soon it will become a law,” Oyeyemi said.

In attendance were also celebrities like Zaki Azzay, Mr. Saka,Tosin Dokpesi,Ogee Onazi, Olu Jacobs, Jo-el and Simi. Others in attendance included Gbenga Adeyinka ,Ngozi Ezeonu, media expects,Bloggers like Mimi Atedze  and others.

Mr Olu Jacobs, a veteran actor, said majority of drivers, especially in Lagos state, needed a change of attitude on the wheel
Jacobs advised the drivers to be patient, careful and consider other road users while driving.

FRSC Recalls Sector Commander who cut the Hair of Female Officers

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has recalled Andrew A. Kumapayi, the Sector Commander of the Rivers State Command who cut the hair of female officers during an exercise to ensure they are dressed according to the prescription of the agency.

The Corps Marshal of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi ordered his recall along with other officers involved condemning the photographs trending on social media.

The female officers were allegedly carrying long hair which was breaching the dress code and appeared too fanciful for the Kumapayi.

The incident, which started trending late Monday evening showed Kumapayi, using a pair of scissors to cut the female officials’ hair after reportedly inspecting their fingernails and uniforms.

In an interview with Punch on Tuesday, Bisi Kazeem, Head-Media Relations and Strategy of the Corps backed Oyeyemi’s decision saying it became necessary in order to properly investigate the matter.

Rivers State's FRSC commander cuts hair of female staff with scissors (photos)

As a way of instilling discipline in female staff of the Federal agency, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Rivers, Andrew Kumapayi, allegedly used scissors on the hair of some of the female staff of the agency, while carrying out a general inspection on staff of the FRSC headquarters in Port Harcourt.

He also inspected uniforms and finger nails, as well as the hairdo of
FRSC personnel.  Kumapayi was on hand to ensure that the female officers whose hair styles ran foul of the requirements, got an on-the-spot haircut.

Passengers Roast To Death In Accident Along Garaku/Mandara In NassarawaState.

Pregnant Woman And 3 Others Killed In Abuja Auto Crash.

A pregnant woman and two other persons have been killed in a fatal accident involving a tipper and a Peugeot car at Mpape Junction along Kubwa Express Way in Abuja.

The accident, which occurred at about 1.30pm, involving a tipper with plate number JAL 315XA and a Peugeot Car with plate number BWR 733AR, attracted sympathizer who rushed to the scene of the incident to rescue victims.

The victims were immediately rushed to Maitama Hospital by men of the Maitama Police Division.
An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said the accident was caused by the tipper vehicle carrying gravels, which lost control due to break failure and passed through a narrow bye-pass into the Peugeot car at the express road.

The eyewitness said, “The tipper just lost control and I think is because it failed break and pulled all these slabs and smashed this car. I don’t think anyone them will survive this accident.”

The incident instantly claimed the lives of the tipper driver, a pregnant woman and another young lady in the Peugeot Car, while the driver of the car sustained serious injury.

A survivor of the accident, who was rescued by sympathizers, from the tipper was still in shock when our correspondent made effort to talk to him and could not even mutter a word.

It took the combined efforts of men of the Maitama Police division and the officers of the FCT Federal Road Safety Corps command to control the traffic the incident caused. They, however, declined to comment on the incident.

Police Recover Explosives From Site Of Abuja Explosion.

The FCT Police Command has disclosed that no fewer than five explosives have been retrieved from the site of the explosion which rocked Karu Town, an Abuja suburb.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Olufemi Ogunbayode,  who briefed journalists in Abuja yesterday,  also disclosed that the owner of the explosion site had been helping the police with information on how the explosives found their way to a public space.

The reported bomb explosion in Karu had shattered the glass windows of a shopping plaza housing a Mr. Biggs eatery and other shops nearby, spreading panic among those around.

Ogunbayode, who told journalists that the command was still investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion to find out if there are culpable persons, however, pointed out that such commercial explosives were permissible by law.

He said contrary to the initially impression, the explosion did not happen at Mr. Biggs, but in an uncompleted site behind the popular eatery.

“In the course of police investigation, the anti-bomb disposal unit was brought in and after combing the entire site, it was revealed that it was contrary to what we thought.

“Initially we thought it was canisters of disposed insecticide that caused the explosion, but at the end of it all we discovered it was a commercial explosive ignited by security guards, causing fire which engulfed the entire site.

“We have also spoken with the owners of the site who are giving us a clue as to how the explosives could have gotten there. Five other undetonated commercial explosives were recovered. I want to say that commercial explosives are permissible by law. They are used for rock blasting.

“While investigating the circumstances as to how the explosives got there, a security man told us how he ignorantly threw one of the explosives into the bonfire while clearing the sack,” Ogunbayode said.

The FCT police chief reiterated that there were no casualties from the incident and urged the residents to feel free to go about their lawful businesses without any fear.
