Famous singer, R.Kelly is rumoured planning to return to Nigeria. The embattled singer is facing sexual abuse charges, after the release of a documentary documenting his sexual manipulations over the years.

Akon signs producer DeeVee to Konvict Music

DeeVee has joined Akon’s label as a producer and writer

As part of his grand plan for music from Africa taking over the world, global music star and entrepreneur Akon just added another name to his music empire, Konvict Music, by signing producer, DeeVee.

Real name Divine Austins, DeeVee, who until last year was D’banj‘s producer, joins Akon on a multi-year publishing deal.

DeeVee, who produced D’banj’s ‘Feeling The Nigga’, will work with Konvict Music as a producer and writer.

According to Akon’s lawyer, Ayo Shonaiya, who brokered the deal, DeeVee has been signed since the beginning of the year after negotiations for most of last year.

The deal is only just being announced while Akon himself is in Lagos, as work is about to start fully on new material for Akon and other artistes on the Konvick Kartel label.

DeeVee’s producing style is very eclectic, from pop to techno and electronic dance music (EDM).

Aside D’banj, he has produced and worked with international acts like Snoop Dogg, Idris Elba, Big Sean and Fally Ipupa.

DJ Lambo Becomes President Of Choc Boi Nation

Olawunmi Okerayi popularly known as DJ Lambo has been appointed as the first female president of Choc Boi Nation, one of the flagship labels under Chocolate City Music.

The announcement was made yesterday on their Instagram page with a special video. They wrote:

Nigerian music star, D’banj, turns 37 today, June 9 and to celebrate, he’s finally revealed the tracklist for his upcoming album titled King Don Come.

The tracklist includes his hit, ‘Oliver Twist’ as a bonus track

D’banj recently welcomed his first child with his wife, Lineo Didi Kilgrow, late in May while the album comes later in June.

It’s his first body of work since 2015’s ‘An Epic Journey’

“Olamide is my friend, I don’t feel threatened by him and Phyno” — Yung6ix

Rapper, Yung6ix has finally explained why he named his label Kash Kamp Trick Billionaire Music.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, he said,

“My ambition is to become a billionaire and I am consciously working towards that. That is why I titled my last EP, Billionaire Ambitions. I have my eyes set on being a music mogul so that I can empower other young artistes out there. Even now, I try to do that as I regularly give out cash on my social media platforms because I love helping people.”

Maintaining that he doesn’t feel threatened by top rappers, Olamide and Phyno, Yung6ix said,
“I have a very good relationship with Olamide and Phyno and I don’t feel threatened by any of them. I believe that the sky is wide enough for every bird to fly and I am thankful that I have my own market and fans who love me. My music is being recognised globally and my unique Nigerian style of music has made me one of the biggest hip hop brands in the industry today. Even though there is a bit of western influence in my songs but it’s also obvious that I’m a Nigerian and I always stay true to my roots.”

Speaking about how he makes music, he said,

“I make music mentally. I don’t write songs as I find that to be stressful. I prefer to freestyle and from that I get to develop the song and make it better after some takes. True music comes from the soul and I try to stay as pure as possible.”

Singer Runtown Speaks At Harvard University On The Emergence Of African Music

Nigerian singer, Runtown recently did a mini United States tour that saw him perform in a couple of states. The singer also was a special guest at a special interaction session with Harvard African Students Association.

The " Mad crooner spoke on the emergence of African music and pop culture influence across the world, emphasizing on the need for collaboration between African and international pop stars as well as urging international record companies to invest more in the stucture and growth of music on the African continent.

He also spoke on the reason for the progress of African music in the world.

Landlord Demolishes OJB'S House And Studio.

Ailing music producer, Babatunde Okunbowa a.k.a OJB Jezreel would no longer live at his residence in Surulere, Lagos when he returns from India as it has been demolished by his Landlord. The only building in the premises that housed OJB's home and studio was demolished by the original owners of the property, a few days before OJB left for transplant in India. Reason for the demolition is due to the fact that OJB has already packed out and the property owners decided to build more flats in the compound. There is currently a block of flats under construction -
