Pastors Using Tithing to 'Blackmail' Members - Man Who Has Been Born Again for 32 Years But Doesn't Pay Tithe
82-year-old Ghanaian Council of State member, Sam Okudzeto has said that Pastors are using the Old Testament idea of tithing to “blackmail” their church members into dispensing with their hard-earned money, most of which goes into individuals’ pockets, and that is “wrong”.
Okudjeto who has been born again for 32 years but does not pay tithe becuase he belief that its against the practice, says pastors take advantage of Malachi 3:10 which says: “’Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
"Test me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it,’” to fleece their church members.
He said; “I have a different concept of tithe,” the former president of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) told Paul Adom-Otchere in an interview on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana programme.
“I have argued with pastors that they are using the tithe as a ruse to blackmail people to give money and I said it is wrong. I give, I don’t go and give tithe. And I give not only to church, I give to church, I give to people who have need, I help those who I think are in a situation where they need help.
“I don’t pay tithe because that’s Old Testament concept and I’ve told the pastors that they are wrong because they are using Malachi to entice people to collect money from them and that money that goes to them does not help the poor and the needy. They do not, no,” Mr Okudzeto said.
According to him, “…everybody is opening a church, every corner you turn in Accra, there is a church,” because the pastors are using the tithing concept to enrich themselves.
“God does not bless you because you give tithe, God blesses you because you’re worshiping him. He blesses you because you love your neighbour as yourself, and you provide for your neighbour when he has need, that is what God wants you to do. So, we are turning the Bible upside down.”
20,000 Angry Muslim Mob Burns Down Village Over Rumours on Social Media That Prophet Mohammed was Insulted
A victim of the attack cries out after her home was razed down by the angry Muslim mob
One person was killed when police opened fire to ward off an angry Muslim mob that turned violent and launched an arson attack on Hindu houses at Thakurbari village in Rangpur Sadar upazila area of Bangledesh on Friday.
According to DhakaTribune, at least five more people were severely injured as police fired rounds of rubber bullets and tear gas shells at the angry crowd.
It was gathered that the mob claimed they were infuriated by a defamatory status published from the Facebook account of one Titu Roy, who hails from Thakurbari.
Before the police intervened, the aggressors had set fire to at least 30 Hindu houses of the village. They also looted and vandalised a good number of houses in that village, according to local sources.
The rumour was that one Titu Roy, originally from Thakurbari village but currently living in Narayanganj, put up a Facebook post defaming Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) a few days ago.
The attack was carried out by a section among the 20,000-strong crowd, that was reportedly mustered out from six to seven neighbouring villages, including Paglapeer, Mominpur and Horialkuthi, after the Jumma prayers.
There was a melee of chases and counter chases between the law enforcers and the crowd. At one point, police fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets to control the situation.
Six people with bullet injuries were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Amogn them, a youth named Hamidul Islam succumbed to his injuries later.
The angry mob later blocked the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway to protest against the police attack, halting the vehicular moment for about four hours in the afternoon.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (Operation) Moktarul Islam said they had deployed a huge number of police personnel in that area and a tense situation is still prevailing there.
The district administration has formed a three-member probe body, headed by Additional District Magistrate Abu Rafa Mohammad Rafiq, to investigate the incident. The committee has been asked to submit its report in seven days, said Rangpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wahiduzzaman.
The DC also mentioned that they had arranged for relief materials for the affected families in the Hindu village.

MAN EXPOSES RCCG IN LEKKI WHERE MAIDS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE CHURCH
A Facebook user, Edward Onoriode, who according to his profile, abhors inequality and ill treatment against fellow humans, took to his Facebook account to share the shocking experience he had when he visited a Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, branch in Lekki, where maids and servants aren't allowed into the church.
Read what he wrote below:

Do you know there's a branch of Redeem Church somewhere in Lekki Lagos where maids/servants ain't permitted or even allowed to enter the church main auditorium?
Do you know the children Church of that redeem church is well furnished with full AC, and state of the art equipments, while the maids/servants are kept in one corner of the church to worship separately like leprosy patients.?
Yet, these set of Christians who discriminate against their fellow humans feel they're bette...r than non tithers and they'd make heaven simply because they pay tithes monthly?
If heaven exist, I rather rot in hell than be in heaven with such set of Christians.

RICH PASTORS ARE IGNORING THE POOR - FALANA MOCKS ADEBOYE
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) condemned the rate of poverty and unemployment in the country, despite the existence of billionaire Christian leaders.
Falana at the ongoing Lagos Book and Arts Festival (LABAF) holding in Freedom Park, Lagos, took a swipe at Nigerian pastors, accusing them of milking their congregants.
The legal luminary wondered how most of them lived in so much affluence but failed to give back to the society.
He also mocked General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for saying RCCG will have as many branches as possible.
Falana lambasted Adeboye and other clerics who prefer to increase branches, instead of focusing on other institutions like schools and hospitals.
His words: “Most of the richest pastors in the world are from Nigeria, yet our people are getting poorer.
“If many of us had not attended mission schools built by the Catholics and the Anglicans…but what are we building now? What are our churches giving us?
“They are promising to build churches in every street. All the warehouses in Apapa built by Awolowo have all become churches and business centres.”
Recall that Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie recently criticised Adeboye’s comment, stating that there is no Godliness in increasing church branches.
“I heard that one of my colleagues, (Pastor Enoch) Adeboye, said that he would love to build churches everywhere so as to make it easy for worshippers to walk to them.
“But for me, that is a useless statement. How can you say you will build churches everywhere? What kind of churches are you talking about?
“Look at traffic in Lagos for example, and those who are pastors are traders and a good number of them are business men. Such churches in most cases are more like business houses!
“Look at the number of churches springing up in Lagos. If the Muslims start building mosques like that, does it show that Nigeria is a religious country?”

SUKUK BOND: 'CHRISTIANISE' NIGERIA TOO, FALANA TELLS CAN
A Lagos-based lawyer, Femi Falana, on Thursday called on the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to “Christianise” Nigeria.
Mr. Falana spoke at the strategic dialogue roundtable organised by the Social Economic Rights and Accountability, SERAP, held in Lagos.
The lawyer was reacting to the controversy surrounding the N100 billion Sukuk bond offered by the Nigerian government.
CAN had in reaction to the offer said the move was an attempt to islamise Nigeria.
But Mr. Falana, on Thursday, said the Sukuk bond was a legitimate means through which government could generate funds, as practiced in many countries of the world.
He called on religious leaders not to set Nigerians against themselves based on religion.
“I am challenging CAN to Christianise Nigerians; christianise us by setting up interest-free banks…” he said.
He said religious leaders must be careful in their handling of issues, stressing that suspected kidnapper, Evans, had clerics who worked for him.
“Evans has a pastor, a Muslim cleric and traditional priest…because all the prayers are needed,” he said.

REINHARD BONNKE RETURNS TO LAGOS TO BID NIGERIA FAREWELL
The renowned German Evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke, is set to return to Nigeria for a five-day crusade and a three-day multi-purpose ministers’ fire conference.
According to Christ for All Nations’ African Director, John Darku, the conference will rescue the country from its spiritual pollution and socio-political corruption.
According to him, more than 10 million people across Africa are expected at the crusade billed to hold at the large expanse of land close to Sparklight Estate, opposite OPIC Plaza, Isheri Osun, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway in November.
As Lagos crusade would be the last of Bonnke’s international crusade, Darku said the “CFaN anticipates conversion of many souls to Christ as Bonnke delivers his farewell message to crowd of worshippers in Nigeria.”
Darku added, “One of the highlights of the crusade will be a ‘passing the burning torch conference’ for leaders and church workers. Bonnke believes in God for many thousands of pastors and evangelists from around the globe to be inspired to evangelism.
“There is great excitement from all the churches in the country, and we are expecting a spectacular harvest of people coming to Christ.”
Also, the Lead Evangelist of CfaN, Daniel Kolenda, expressed optimism that the crusade would transform the church not only in Nigeria but across the African continent.
“I am thrilled to join with Reinhard in this vision, and know that the results of this crusade will be farther reaching and of even greater consequence than we can even imagine.
“Ever since God gave Evangelist Bonnke a vision for a blood-washed Africa – a continent washed in the blood of Jesus Christ – over 40 years ago, he has been filled with a burning commitment to win the continent for Jesus,” Kolenda said.
Bonnke, who wrote about the crusade on his facebook wall said, “Hello friends, I have a special announcement for you today. I am returning to Lagos, Nigeria for my ‘Farewell Crusade’ in November of this year.
“This will be a truly momentous event, where we believe millions will, not only hear the gospel, but will be saved, healed, and delivered. As much as I am concerned, I am inviting the whole world.
“The Lord spoke to me, that I should go back for one more crusade in Africa.
“I want not only to see a gigantic harvest of souls, but to pass my burning torch to this generation.
“Recently, I travelled to Lagos, Nigeria to meet with the spiritual leadership there and they gave their unanimous support. I believe God is going to do something I have never seen before.”

SUKUK BOND, A STRATEGY TO ISLAMISE NIGERIA - CAN PRESIDENT
The Christian Association of Nigeria has opposed the floating of the Sukuk Islamic bond by the Federal Government, alleging it is meant to Islamise the country through the back door .
CAN , in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja by its General Secretary, Rev . Musa Asake , demanded the abrogation of the laws and framework behind the bond and threatened to seek legal redress if that was not done .
The group said the FG was trying to sell the nation to Arab countries through the Sukuk Bond , arguing that the government was pursuing an Islamisation agenda .
According to the Christian body , Nigeria is a secular state and the government is expected to be neutral on issues involving religion . It argued that the promotion of a sectional religious financial policy was a violation of the Constitution .
It said , “ The Christian Association of Nigeria has been protesting against this aberration since the Osun State Government, under Governor Rafiu Aregbesola , embarked on this violation of the Constitution .
“ Rather than stand in the defence of the constitution , it is disappointing to note that the Federal Government is pursuing what is an outright confirmation of an Islamisation agenda .
“ The recent floating of Sukkuk Bond by the government is not only sectional but illegal and a violation of the Constitution. Every law that has been promulgated to back the Sukuk issuance and promote an Islamic banking system in Nigeria is ultra vires , illegal , null and void . ”
The organisation said there was never a time Nigeria held a referendum or convened a Constituent Assembly that passed a resolution that the nation had transmute into an Islamic State .
“ Therefore , the manipulations and scheming to smuggle the country into a full blown Islamic state should stop; these manipulations became apparent with the smuggling of Nigeria into the Organisation of Islamic Conference in 1986 by the Ibrahim Babangida military junta , ” Asake said .
The group added that the International Monetary Fund had stated that the issuance of Sukuk by non - Islamic countries was a breach of the religious neutrality of the government of such states .
“ The FG must dismantle all legal and institutional framework established to promote Islamic financing in Nigeria .
“ We affirm that the territorial integrity of Nigeria is undermined through the issuance of Sukuk in the country. We hope that the government shall desist from its policies of unbridled religious sectionalism , ” CAN said .

CHINA BANS CHILDREN FROM ATTENDING CHURCH SERVICE
The Chinese Government has banned children from attending churches in the country in a bid to tighten their grip on religious activities.
The ban also prohibits children from attending religious sermons and other activities in several provinces across the country.
The ban comes after over one hundred churches in Wenzhou , China's Zhejiang
province reportedly received a notice from government officials informing them that young people will be banned from entering churches.
According to UCA News , the ban also promises that officials will investigate government approved churches and underground congregations who operate outside the tightly controlled Beijing -run Catholic and Protestant Churches.
A researcher for Amnesty International, William Nee , who spoke to MailOnline UK , said, “At this point, it’s unclear how widespread the ban on children attending church services are in China, but these alarming reports seem to be coming in from fairly diverse areas throughout the country.”
Nee further said that the move reflects the tightening control of religion in “particular Islam and Christianity under the present administration” in the Asian country.
She added, “In an important speech on religion last year, the President, Xi Jinping , said that young people must study science, believe in science and develop a ‘correct’ worldview and set of values.
“It could be that the government is concerned that young people going to church or religious activities may challenge their monopoly on truth and the government’s ability to instill its own historical narratives and worldview through the public education system.”

C.O.Z.A Members Ask Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo To Defend Adultery Allegations Against Him.

| Pastor Biodun |
As the cloud of adultery mess hovers around the Ministry of Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Common Wealth Of Zion Assembly, COZA, concerned members of the church have expressed disappointment that the ‘Apostle’ has not clinically come out to either accept or deny the allegation levelled against him.
Fatoyinbo has been in the news for allegedly sleeping with one of his church members who gave her name as Ese Walter.
The wind blew and the chicken romp was exposed over the weekend when the lady in a tell-it-all article exposed her escapade with the man of God.
Ese in the controversial article entitled, “My affair with Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA,” explained how she savoured the ‘John Thomas’ of the preacher for years before things fell apart between them.
If you miss the story, read it here.
However, the pastor has neither come out to refute or accept the allegation but claimed that when he asked God, God told him to keep quiet, a statement, which his teeming members have described as ‘immaterial.’
“Now read my lips, I know there are people here that are not part of our church, read my lips, we are going to speak but we are consulting to come out with a robust reply. Before then, I will not say anything, but I owe it to you as members that have made me proud and have made God proud,” he told his congregation during the Sunday Service.
Speaking with DailyPost, a member of the church who gave his name as Israel (surname withheld) said the pastor should stop beating about the bush but come out to tell his members the whole truth.
“God can’t ask you to keep quiet in this matter because his name is at stake too. The church of God is being accused here and same God is telling him to keep quiet? That is immaterial, I can’t accept that. I came to church this morning to hear from him only for him to spoil my day with such statement.”
Asked if he would still continue to worship with the church, the fair completion man said, “I’m not worshiping the man of God, my aim is to make heaven at last, that won’t stop me from going to the church but we should not lie against God.” He added.
Another lady who gave her name as Tees, said, “The truth is that members of the church will support their pastor. The girl will be at the receiving end even if she is telling the truth. That’s Africa for you. If it were Yankee, They would investigate this man. Now the girl must feel like its a million people against one person. I believe her though, but I also believe she feels scorned. That is the root of all this revelation. Hell hath no fury like a “woman scorned”
For Simzie, the man of God is yet to clear the air on the matter.
According to her, “As far as I am concerned, you have not said anything to refute the allegation made against you, or maybe I do not understand your language. Just make it simple by saying NO, this never happened or better still if you are too proud or ashamed to confess to your subjects or congregation, then I suggest you go to a higher man of God and help yourself. One thing I am sure of is that you need help. Why do I believe Ese? I went through something similar in the hands of a man of God who claimed that he was visited by Jesus Christ in his home. Ladies, we really have to be careful. There is so much deception going on now in the world,” he warned.
Another angry member of the ministry who would not want his name mentioned said he would be disappointed if the pastor is found guilty of the allegation.
According to him, “There’s no smoke without fire, a lady would not just wake up and start writing what she doesn’t know. I just pray he’s impeccable because this is big shame to the body of Christ,” she said.
