Redeemer’s Varsity Develops 10mins Lassa Fever Test-Kit,Urges FG To Grant Private Varsities Access To TETFund.


 By Ikenna Asomba Against the backdrop of the raging Lassa fever virus, the Redeemer’s University, (RUN), Ede, Osun State, has developed a test kit known as Pan-Lassa Rapid Diagnostics Test (PL RDT), that enables the testing of urine, faeces and blood samples of humans or multmamelar rats for Lassa fever in 10 minutes.

Lassa Fever: Rat Poison, Trap Sellers Record High Sales.





Sellers of rat poisons and traps in Abuja have reported a rise in sales following the outbreak of Lassa Fever in 10 states.
A survey conducted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Saturday in Abuja, showed that residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were buying either the rat poisons or other traps than hitherto.

Blame Goodluck Jonathan For Lassa Fever Outbreak - Minister of Health 'Adewole'




Prof. Isaac Adewole, Nigeria's Minister of Health has blamed the ongoing Lassa fever outbreak in the country on the failure of the Goodluck Jonathan administration to implement a roadmap on health which was drawn in 2012. Adewole, disclosed this to the Senate Committee on Health headed by Sen. Lanre Tejuoso on the latest outbreak of the disease in Nigeria; NAN reports.

Benue People Told To Stop Eating Rats Because Of Outbreak Of Lassa Fever.




The Benue State Government has directed its citizens to stop eating rats in the meantime in order to curtail the spread of Lassa Fever.
The state governor, Samuel Ortom, disclosed this to State House correspondents shortly after meeting Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Lassa Fever: Benue Quarantines Patient, Takes Preventive Measures








The Benue State University Teachng Hospital (BSUTH) Makurdi has isolated a patient with symptoms of Lassa fever, LEADERSHIP Sunday has gathered.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Orkurga Malu who spoke to journalists by telephone yesterday, said the hospital had received a case suspected to be Lassa fever but were yet to confirm it.
